Reloading general
My press after sizing/depriming/cleaning primer pockets of over 6,000 pieces of .45 Auto brass.
My die is an undersized die from EGW. They have Lee custom make dies .003" undersized to eliminate Glock bulge on brass. With my RCBS dies I had some rounds not fit in a match chamber.

Realistically, what firearm would you need to take down a rampaging Na'vi from the Avatar films? Nine feet of solid muscle and bone (reinforced with natural carbon fibre), extremely fast-moving and agile, fighting on their own turf with very short engagement distances? There's no way 5.56 mm would cut it, would 7.62mm be enough?

Their motivation is not humanitarian, but humanity still needs it, and it's in short supply, and thus it is valuable.
>No it isn't. Selfridge directly says that the ONLY reason they are even there is unobtainium.
Yes. That is my point, if you've been keeping up. With how important and rare unobtanium is, why the fuck else would they still be there?
>If it's so important for their interstellar travel then how come they managed to get to pandora in the first place?
I don't believe it's ever elaborated on, but I'd assume they get there the slow, conventional way the first time around, using up what are presumably now very limited fuel resources - or there were already some small deposits of it that they extracted either in Sol or in other systems. I'd guess there are some other lesser deposits elsewhere on Pandora as well that they've mined since natural resources tend to not just appear in one place exclusively.
>You suggested manual mining with pickaxes, which is a labour and manpower intensive process that the RDA cannot afford.
They're a multi-billion-dollar megacorp that has all of Terra under their thumb, of course they can afford it. Duh.

In fairness, there has to be a tactical and/or strategic advantage in your fancy top-of-the-line tanks looking basically the same as your more numerous, slightly outdated ones.
>>
>>64761755
Production and handling ones too. There's also the possibility of a wartime budget-friendly improvement program to bring some but not all of the new improvements to the older tanks if you're ever in a pinch for those newer capabilities. Like maybe you can't remanufacture all the A2 inventory with the new turret fast enough, but replacing the RWS with the new one equipped for drone interception is probably a much easier task and still gives you a significantly more survivable vehicle in some scenarios.
>>
>>64757596
truly monkey pepega shit
new abrams looks fucking gay though desu
>>
>>64760459
Same range on the tank is too bad but no big loss. The benefit of needing half the fuel tankers behind it OTOH is great.
>>
>>64762111
Or you get double the range/time between resupplies out of an existing logistics chain, you just have to stop to top her up at the same rate you already do.

Aspiring designer here. How much of a deal breaker is it for a bullpup to need a dedicated left-handed bolt for swapping ejection? Any Ausfags or other military users run into supply issues?

My design uses a fixed ejector which I'm wedded to so I can't just copy the VHS.
>>
>>64761591
You're not gonna get any purchases from lefties and won't get military contracts. Not a big deal for the right handed civilian population. I would recommend downward or forward ejection, best would ve revisiting the system Desert Tech used for the original MDR.
>>
>>64761635
Desert Tech's mechanism worked but was pretty tight on manufacturing tolerances which ended up being a big problem for them. When they came out well they were good but they often didn't and then they were fucked. Hence DT giving up on it.

I think actually a more promising thing to look into copying would be the F2000's FE mechanism, where it accumulated shells and then threw them all out the gun over the top of the barrel. That was battle tested and worked reliably and was even better then anything near the shooter, not plate swapping ever required. Plus you can review the original patents and copy all you want because it's been over 20 years so the whole thing is unprotected now. Downward eject might work but you do have to consider spent cartridges being around the shooter's feet and how you deal with jams.

If doing a brand new bullpup definitely need to look for some sort of improvement and unique selling point. Ejection isn't an easy one but could be a good one, make sure it works well though AND that you don't get seduced by the kinds of tolerances CAD will let you pick that might not be realistic to make unless you're a massively skilled and big budget player.
>>
>>64762095
With forward tube ejection and downward ejection, you run into issues when the gun malfunctions and you don't have an election port to clear it. With DT's system, you could remove the forward election mechanism and clear it. You'd actually end up with a very wide election area, more than a standard election port because the mechanism covered a wide area. It was even better on their prototype, where it latched down easily like an election port cover, so it couldn't get lost and could easily be slapped back on.

They gave up on it because they listened to demands of dumb consumers who didn't see the benefit, because they have no actual experience and don't know what building clearing tactics are so they always shoot with the same hand. If they had some thay work, and it's clearly a cheap little thing to make, just send any user that complains a free one (within reason) until they get a good one. Eventually when they get all the kinks worked out they'll have to send less out. It was a bad decision to get rid of one of the best and innovative things about that rifle. The wlvrn version makes up for that by being reportedly very reliable and accurate. They finally got it right, but without one of the best features which they only dropped to appease a dumb market. It should still be an option for those that want it.
>>
>>64762138
>They gave up on it because they listened to demands of dumb consumers who didn't see the benefit
Anon, I own an FE MDRX. The first one I got from them broke after a single shot and had to be sent back to DT for repair. Which to their credit they had gold standard perfect warranty support on, they paid shipping both days, they did it in a couple of weeks despite it being xmas/new years holiday season, but still that stung. And even afterwards it choked and had cartridges jam in it pretty easily. Yes, it wasn't a big deal to pop the plate and free it but it was still irritating vs the SE which always works. It was significant weight too.

From talking with other owners FE problems affected a big percentage of customers. Not everyone, plenty had it work perfectly, but lots didn't. Nobody had any problem with the concept and benefits anon, the problem was just that DT was never ever able to manufacture them with enough consistency. And MDRX was already v2, and then got tons of iteration afterwards. They had SEVEN YEARS to get it worked out anon, and they never seemed to quite be able to get it.

So I don't agree with you on "appease a dumb market", people like cool stuff and stuck with the MDR through a long period of refinement, but at some point you want your $2500 rifle to like, actually run through more than 10 rounds reliably?

>Nice job! Always a shame to see them bubba'd in the first place but the end result looks really fantastic.
Thanks anon. Bubba always seems to butcher the rare ones as not a whole lot of Kar98bs were made to begin with and finding 98b parts in specific is a pain.
>Did you get new barrel band springs or were they in the white already?
The front band spring is off of an Argentine 1909. I found the barrel bands online on a forum, used a Gewehr 98 buttplate, and a generic Mauser 98 bayonet lug though I might have to swap it out for another as the hole for the lug pin doesn't quite line up with the hole in the stock. The biggest pain left to do is trimming a rear band spring to match the slot in the stock for it, the slot is shorter than a standard 98 spring so I need to trim and relieve the spring to fit it and the rear band.
