Guy at work whoâs trying to discourage my next gun purchase said âI wouldnât trust my life to a 1911â. I was honestly at a loss for words. How do you feel about 1911 vs other handguns for cc?
I just got a cco-ish 1911 for cc. I'm going to shoot it tomorrow I will report back if the thread is still up. Otherwise I'll report to /hg/

I am young and broke just starting my career, I will hopefully be able to afford a proper safe soon, but not yet.I need some help with creative but discrete locations to keep my firearms in my home. Obviously I could spend money on these silly "freedom frame" or furniture that turns into a gun storage, but I dont have money for that either. I need to improvise. One thought is I can use velcro straps under my table to keep my rifle. I live alone and children/safety is not a concern. I just dont want my guns to be out of sight and out of mind.Looking specifcally for long guns, but ideas for handguns are welcome as long as its better than putting it in a stack of T shirts.

Why hasn't Russia used chemical/biological/radiological weapons in Ukraine? They're complete animals and have no problem killing and torturing civilians and POWs so it's clearly not a moral issue. Putin is retarded enough to start the conflict so he's retarded enough to do whatever. Their situation is bad and unsustainable so they'd probably be looking for any advantage. They can veto UNSC measures to do something about it and the General Assembly's condemnations mean nothing. The Chinksects will probably just complain to save face but still trade with Russia, the Frogs, Bongs and Krauts won't commit any forces because they fear "EsCaLaTiOn", Orange Man is cucked enough to do fuckall about it and Thirdies are pro-Russia enough to not care. The Kremlin already considers Russian lives worthless so they won't give a shit about how it affects them unless it becomes an oligarch's problem or something. I legit just don't see why Russia hasn't dropped sarin or mustard gas or caesium-137 on Ukrainian civilians yet. Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.

I can't imagine how messy it was to kill someone in battle before shit was made from iron, just annihilating the other guy's exposed soft parts quickly and until they die.
Did the Hittites have iron-making technology? The beginning of the Iron Age marked the beginning of a long historical dark age, and it seems that it took quite some time before the use of iron was clearly confirmed.
>>64340526>>64340506>>64340464Bronze blades were work hardened at the edges. The hardened bronze used for weapons in this manner was much harder than the wrought iron that replaced it, and is of similar hardness for most battlefield uses to steel (steel varies in hardness a lot, and the bronze stuff sat somewhere in the middle of the range for the steel on weapons, samplea across a long period and at many points on weapons). The problem with bronze swords isn't that they couldn't be made with edges hard enough to hold, it's actually the opposite: Using them slowly continues to work harden the piece until it's too hard and embrittles, then breaks. To undo the progress of this effect, or to do any even minor repairs to any bronze arms or armor, you need to anneal them and then work harden them again, which is no shit an amount of skilled craftwork work that approaches what it took to originally make the piece from ingots to finished, and requires access to a forge. The thing that makes steel a god tier material is precisely that it doesn't work harden but still has fantastic hardness, fledibility and durability.
>>64340651>Did the Hittites have iron-making technology?Yes.>>64340663>The thing that makes steel a god tier material is precisely that it doesn't work hardenAre you high? Steel absolutely work hardens.
>>64340651>Did the Hittites have iron-making technology?Yes. Iron and steel existed in the Bronze Age, but it was called the Bronze Age because most (not all) metal objects were made of bronze. The Iron Age did not start with the discovery of iron but rather its popularization, making it super common.
>>64340651Hittites had fairly good iron making and working during the bronze ageThe main killer for Iron and Steel is just the sheer amount of heat people have to pump into things, its not too hard to get charcoal fires into 1000-1100C to make a good bronze alloy and it'll get it there relatively quickly so you can knock out a lot of stuff in a days work. Iron by comparison is a huge pain in everyone's arse t get temperatures of 1500-1600C and hold it there for quite a few hours to process it, requiring people to make small mountains of charcoal, dudes stamping on bellows to keep the air going, around the clock with other people chucking in the ore and fuel. A big bloom of iron might be taking tonnes of fuel, people who aren't halfwits and that's even before a carburisation process to make steel.Which isn't much fun eitherOnce you batter and beat the shit out of the iron into a wrought form to get most of the slag out of it, then you're back in there baking the shit overnight at fairly high temperatures to get the necessary carbon into the iron to make steel. Its a really intensive process that practically requires some degree of industrialistion, forestry, fuel making, ore gathering and somewhere down the line with be dudes bonking hot metal with hammers

>>64335254Yeah the AK FRT SS market is super underdeveloped, and IMO it is actually one of the most promising. My two position AK FRT has been working flawlessly for nearing 1200 rounds total, maybe 1300 actually I need to double check. The design of the cam is such that the force to actuate the reset is transferred through a very durable tough piece, as opposed to the lever designs for the AR platform. The trip bar which is arguably the weakest part is only subject to moderate forces. I've got the three position function checking by hand decently well right now, so long as you don't crank down on the trigger to hard. Going to work on it more a bit here. I don't know if AK receiver and carrier specs are tight enough in terms of tolerances, but matching the cam and trip bar to a particular spec fire control group, auto disconnector, and auto safety, for a near drop in three position AK FRT SS that keeps the original OG aesthetic... we're not far from that.
>>64338526Very based. Will it use the OG safety selector?

Since we're now in "holiday season " I wanted to reach out to everyone and see if there were people still interested in participating this year. Last couple years have gone smoothly and I have a pretty good list of people who have been good Santas, and a naughty list of course. Still got the same email as last year, S G T S A N T A 4 2 @ G M A I L, anyone interested in helping organize the event should reach out. I think what's realistic based on the last two-year is to have 2 rounds for U.S.A. and another round for international, shipping deadlines by Dec 1 (will definitely be there for /k/mas) and Dec 15 for USA and Dec 1 for international. Tiers will be based on the minimum amount spent, at $0 $20, $50, 100$+. If there are enough people to do something like 250+, that can probably be arranged (really only need 2 people). I'm excited to spread some more /K/hristmas-y goodness, delicious Eastern European chocolates and milsurp, and maybe, just maybe, another knildo.
Never have and probably never will, but I respect the spirit
>>64339989Are you able to push the international to mid November? I've had multiple years where EU and Australian customs have held packages in gulag for 4 weeks or more because they're gigafaggots....I miss BigBoss and the old santa website...

Hypothetically speaking, let's just say I'm the new leader of a politically unstable, resource-rich, third-world country. My nation is being plagued by terrorists who are funded by a neighboring power, and local security forces are not up to snuff to deal with the threat. How feasible of an idea is it to hire a PMC and integrate them into the military or security services and allow them to execute operations against the enemy?
>>64340358Retarded thread, not enough specifics to actually answer your question. The resources in question, are they actively being exploited and providing you with cash flow or are they merely theoretical avenues of income? Is this "neighboring power" a peer adversary to you or will they absolutely fuck your shit if you attack them directly? Are you a pariah state that's actively being sanctioned by the civilized world or are you on good terms with the major powers?Speaking generally though, you'd be better off hiring PMCs to train and advise your own local security forces and spend the extra money you'd pour into paying the PMCs to actually fight on better equipping your own soldiers. When I hear "politically unstable" I think "you want a competent military on your side".
>>64340358>Integrate pmcThey are whore with guns. Keeping them you get a coup to prolong warfare. Use them conduct forced drafting by abduction and reserve your inner party to mop them up as the good guy

>>64340358Anon, this thread was made a couple of days ago.
If you were stuck on an elevator with a Pentagon official and could pitch a replacement to the m7, what would you say? I'd personally recommend a 22 arc with shell shock cases for lighter weight and when combined they should have ~20% more case capacity than a 5.56>Cheap optionKeep the current lower and upper, upgrade to a standard issue sopmod stock and mlok handguard, 16in medium barrel and bolt.>Total replacementAgain sopmod stock and mlok handguard, but with a fluted barrel, icar receiver, three position gas block, sand cut and upgraded bcg, incorporate some of the mk2 upper receiver changes, and a stubby suppressor
>>64336692This is actually a pretty good idea, 16 for regular infantry and 10.5 and under for sped ops and vehicle niggas. Worked well for the ziggers back in the day
>>64321981I like the idea of an M4A2 and M16A5 in principle, but with heavier grain 5.56 I do question whether it is necessary to have both. The real irony would be that splitting the difference and standardizing on a one rifle set up, something between a 14.5" M4 and. 20" M16, like say a civilian length 16", could make a lot of sense ballistic wise. I'd personally rather they went with something closer to rifle length, like an 18", but the "muh CQB" crowd would never go for it.
>>64336769Sounds like you just want everyone to have the AUG. The 16 inch version is still more compact than a MK18.
