The reason why they become nominally less lethal isn't that they intelligently choose to be - the more lethal strains still happen, still spread, and still kill shitloads of infectees, they simply burn out in comparison to the less lethal variants. That will be great news for the distant future peoples that may exist, not so great for the masses of dead in the modern day.

>>65023143Yeah, kinda hits the nail on the hand. The nation can atrophy easily if everything gets steadily older including the entrepreneurs. I got lucky because I got an "inheritance" early due to extremely cucked new inheritance tax laws and my based (af, no cap) dad deciding to set us off early. I was doing alright but the extra kick just made the current times much easier allowing me to do quite a lot of what I wanted to do early. There's a different mindset when you're older and there's a lot of wisdom kids don't have but a do-or-die attitude is good for the economy and keeps people on their toes. What makes halberds so good? I've heard they're the best polearm, but not why.
>>65032969Anon there are literally no examples of halberd going head to head with pikes, do I'm not sure where you're getting that idea from.
>>65033217the swiss used guys with halberds as part of pike formations
>>65033217No, but there's records of halberds flanking pikes. The idea was to escort Pike Blocks with Halberdiers. When you went head to head with another pike block you can pull and push enemy pikes out of line so your own pikeman can get a good stab in.
>>65033238Yes, as flankers, banner guards, and to push when shit devolved into bad war- which would involve the pikes being interleaved or dropped and the pikemen gutting each other with swords and daggers. They adopted the pike because the halberd was a bad choice when facing cavalry who dismounted and came at them with their lances, because the halberd isn't very good at that sort of fighting compared to a long spear or pike.>>65033257Post examples of this actually occuring. In order to do this, you have the major problem of the pikemen outreaching you and having a substantially more nimble weapon, so they'll just stab you. You flank them by going around and actually hitting their flanks, where you can kill them and not just fuck around trying to yank their pikes around.
>>65028325That sounds like complete horseshit just like "blood grooves" in swords.
How hard is home making a firearm? Have you tried? And is reloading ammo worth a shot too?
>>65028548All in all it’s extremely good. I’m not super good at 3d printing and again an A1 isn’t exactly a fancy printer, but for the most part as long as you use brims on long skinny stuff and add supports where needed it prints very well. Main receiver housing was a 4 day print at half speed and used 800 grams of filament.. so that was a touch nerve wracking…. But the rest isn’t too bad. Printed in pla+ (overture). But still have to do the bolt carriers in tough pla. There’s some sanding or tape shimming for bearing fit. And a lot of threaded inserts to install with a soldering iron, but as long as you don’t have warping to deal with it’s pretty much just a complex LEGO set…. If you download the files off nopels site it’s got a 170 ish page pdf manual with troubleshooting, theory of operation, assembly and break in… frankly the amount of time this guy sunk into this is nuts and it shows.
>>65028533I could see that working as you describe with a filing surface at the correct angle to make a spark when the flint was impacted. It might also be enough to make a cone shaped touch hole and direct the sparks from an external flint and rotary striker at that.
>>65028574Sorry I got completely mixed up, I meant blackpowder as the propellant and matchhead sticks as the primer, for example the hammer (or nail if it's a pipe shotgun) would be slammed into the matchstick head causing a spark which would then ignite the gunpowder, Could this possibly work?
>>65028533>So we have these things called Zippo flints....>Assume you could attach them to something in a reliable repeatable way, something which upon interacted with would cause sparks....Congrats on independently inventing the wheellock ignition half a millennium after it was popular!Cigarette lighters using these "flints" are all based on the wheel lock mechanism used in 15th century European firearms. The mechanism was built around a serrated wheel with a spring-loaded arm pushing a chunk of iron pyrite (fool's gold) against it.The wheel was mounted on an axle and wrapped around that axle was a small length of chain connected to a very powerful spring. The trigger mechanism kept the wheel from spinning until the shooter pulled the trigger. The wheel would rotate 3/4 of a turn, rubbing against the pyrite and producing sparks.Fancy versions had manual safeties and pan-covers that opened automatically as the shooter pulled the trigger, so the guns could be safely carried ready to go without spilling the priming powder or accidentally discharging.Reloading involved using a big wrench to turn the wheel back against spring pressure, rather than just pulling back a hammer. This type of mechanism was the first that could be practically carried around loaded and ready to go, and caused all the important people in Europe to panic because suddenly assassins could be carrying around hidden pistols. This mechanism was VERY expensive and complicated to build, so they were only every used on really fancy civilian hunting guns for rich people, and military arms issued to elite cavalry units.Comment too long. Congratulations Commander Anon,Due to unforeseen complications with ISR your predecessor was exploded seventeen times taking his daughter to school. You are given a simple order:Survive. How do you go about harassing the US military enough to force capitulation? Do you base any of your tactics or strategies off similarly successful asymmetrical belligerents that have also repelled American invasion? Remember, any use of materiel will likely result in its destruction. Your resources are limited but the resolve of those under your command is infinite. Surrender of any kind is not an option. How do you proceed?
>>65032960>After the outbreak of World War II in Europe in 1939, the National Association of Broadcasters forced the cancellation of Golden Hour. In 1942, the Archdiocese of Detroit forced Coughlin to close his newspaper Social Justice and forbade its distribution by mail.>Beginning in 1934, they were increasingly worried that Mosley's noted oratory skills would convince the public to provide financial support to the BUF, enabling it to challenge the political establishment.[105] American journalist and writer John Gunther described Mosley in 1940 as "strikingly handsome. He is probably the best orator in England. His personal magnetism is very great".[98] Mosley's agitation was officially tolerated until the events of the Battle of France in May 1940 made the government consider him too dangerous. Mosley, who at that time was focused on pleading for the British to accept Hitler's peace offer of October 1939, was detained on 23 May 1940, less than a fortnight after Winston Churchill became prime minister.[25] Mosley was interrogated for 16 hours by Lord Birkett[105] but was never formally charged with a crime, and was instead interned under Defence Regulation 18B.Censorship during wartime is a tried and true and working strategy, which must be used no matter what. Demoralization propaganda works. Enemy demoralization propaganda works. By censoring the media, you can stifle the impact of demoralization propaganda, both domestic and enemy. The idea of a free press should solely pertain to non-military matters. If every newspaper in the Colonies had printed broadsides of Washington's strategy to cross the Delaware on Christmas, we wouldn't have won that battle, now, would we? Freedom of the press should never be absolute, especially when it comes to military matters.
