I think it looks good, the texture I could touch up a little bit, I tried to sections with lighter or deeper depending on where I needed it.

Outdoor. Innawoods is the best, indoor ranges are gross, ugly an noisy and she's not going to enjoy it. You want to be somewhere you can take off your ear pro and talk and there isn't anything/anyone distracting her. Also Other people will try to hit on your girl at a range and disguise it as "shooting tips" or whatever bullshit.
>>
>>64634664
If I was a simp I would have stayed with her and I would be making excuses for her.
>>
>>64639991
Correct, neverserved, maybe it's different in the armed forces because the majority of women who sign up have something to prove and think they're hot shit. In general though, women are far more likely to listen to instruction than men.
>>
>>64640679
I will attest to this. Even just in any job Ive worked the men usually at least try to learn and get better/take constructive criticism at whatever they're doing. With women it's always a whole lot of eye rolling and "I don't have to to do that" untill everything is all fucked up, at which point some will finally start to learn but most just keep fucking shit up and not giving a fuck.
>>
Took a woman shooting for a second date, fucked her in every hole. That's the story.

That's approximate number of nuclear warheads NATO, the Warsaw Pact, and their friends possessed at the peak of the Cold War in 1985.

Here's my question, if things had actually had actually come to a head, how many of these could actually have been fired off in an exchange. Say, it's all-out mutually assured destruction where the goal is the total extermination of the opposing side, could you have actually seen 60,000+ warheads being fired off or would both sides have had command and control collapse after the first few hundred and the rest being left unable to be used?

I'm guessing a lot of them were dumb bombs capable of being dropped by not very sophisticated aircraft. Strike aircraft, older aircraft or transports. If the bombs aren't destroyed at airfields (i.e. dispersed staging), the first nuclear exchange might cook enemy air defense on one or both sides to the point where even shitty or a few remaining aircraft could repeatedly return unloading newly brought up nuclear bombs tl;dr contingent offensive advantage.

Hard to pinpoint a few concealed offensive aircraft once complex not super resilient systems (satellite ground support, recce airbase and orbiting etc.) are nuked. So there might be a long drawn out period of nukes still going off, big percentages of destruction and strategic/support/industrial capability reduction.

I have a small autism for Ranger Body Armor. It's both aesthetically pleasing and an interesting intermediate technological step from "soft" Kevlar and flak vests to IBAs and the modern plate carriers of today.

Post RBAs, be they sets you own or just have pictures of.

Starting with some pics of RBAs used by the 101st Airborne Division when it deployed to Kosovo from 2000 to 2001

How do they compare to Cabelas, BassPro, and Sportsmans Warehouse. And Gander Mountain?

I do love their price match, was able to get them to price match with gunmagwarehouse on gen 3 pmags.

I bought a full Inox Beretta 92FS from one for $399, they have decent used gun prices but obviously selection is limited. Ammo prices are good and they're often doing rebates on stuff. They're solid and they have some higher end gear compared to your average sporting goods store, can find Arc'teryx, Patagonia, etc there. They have very good prices on Harris and Atlas bipods as well.

What the hell is a Scheel's? is it a Northern thing? I don't think we have any in NC unless I am mistaken. Bass Pro fucking sucks, Dick's stopped carrying guns a while ago, we don't even have any big gun retailers it's all local shops or Cabela's/Academy. But Academy has weird policies like they check ID for buying pistol ammo and keep trigger locks on the guns constantly.

No, people have simply convinced themselves that a G3 is a better rifle than it is in reality and have unfounded expectations.

Will a carbon steel firing pin break or should it be ok? We had one break and are getting it recreated using a CNC milling machine, they are going to scan the dimensions of the pin perfectly and cut a new one out a block of metal. Just don’t want it to happen again

$130 per pin he’s quoted me, and $80 for the scanning job. So $210 all up for one - or he said he will make x10 for $530 and waive the scan fee.
Im thinking just get one to try it first and if it’s good I’ll get a few spares made up

The specific alloy of steel and heat treat are the most critical part of longevity. You have any idea of the original's steel+HT? There's places that knifemakers and whatnot send parts to for heat treat so maybe you can ride that option if you don't feel confident about DIYing the HT.
>>
>>64639706
>O1 is basically what Win and others have used for the past 150 years
I find that hard to believe, for one because O1 hasn't even really been around for 150 years, and also because it's just better suited for things like drill bits, not impact parts.
And you can get 6" long, 3/8" diameter hardened 4140 rod from McMaster for ~$3 and not even have to worry about heat treating or deformation.
>>
>>64640556
You tried machining a pre-hard rod? Uniform hardness is also not a good thing for a firing pin.
>>
>>64640573
>Uniform hardness is also not a good thing for a firing pin.
It doesn't really matter if its toughness is high enough.
>>
>>64639701
You'd need an optical comparator to get the scallop right, but it probably doesn't matter much

>>64637617
>>64637620
A non heat treated firing pin will not last long at all. Mil spec calls out for 8640 with a salt bath heat, salt bath quench, and air cooling.
You should look at a 17-4PH pin heat treated up to H900 (hold at 900°F for an hour, air cool), and that's going to get you RC ~45. You'll find rod stock on Mcmaster for cheap.

You could go up in case hardness (HRC 55+) with nitriding, but it depends on your needs.

>going to the range even once a month and shooting 150-200 rounds
Why would you do this? You go to a noob range which is just a weapons testing line. They don't let you move or draw from the holster, use sling methods, etc. That's not training. You don't even need to fire any rounds to train, you're telling me you have no formal training to set a slate for what you do at the noob weapons testing line you go to, then you just shit thousands of rounds down the drain? Fucking hobbyists man, what a waste.

It's just a retarded subversion of classical fantasy tropes.

The shining knights in armor (the Lannisters) are actually assholes and pretty much the closest thing to the bad guys. The werewolves (Starks) are noble but they die like fools because they were too pure for this world (unlike in classical fantasy, being honorable doesn't pay off in ASOIAF). The rightful heir lives in a dark gloomy castle with constant storms and is counseled by a witch. The other arguably rightful heir has dragons for a sigil (symbol of evil, in traditional fantasy).

And of course no-one is actually a good person because we need to pile up more subversion on top so the life of the peasants is even worse than IRL peasants in the Middle Ages and the death toll of wars is dialed up to 11. (In reality wars in the Middle Ages had small armies and thus small death tolls, with exceptions)

So:
Subversion of fantasy tropes (good is bad, bad is good)
+
Ripoff of traditional history (The Anarchy and the War of the Roses)
+
More subversion on top of the subversion (actually nobody was good, the system is shit and honorable people are fools)

Is it entertaining? Sure

Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.

This. There's a hierarchy among them, like younger can't live above elderly gypsy in an apartment block, there's feud's between families and some family lines are banned to enter into towns where certain families live, and every town/area has a gypsy king, that's like the godfather. Gypsies are like the la cosa nostra of Finland. A menace. A menace that always is packin' heat. Collector's items mostly. And that's why we can't have nice things.

Small ring mausers (most guns in 7mmx57 or 6.5x55) have poorer gas handling characteristics and they also lack the safety lug of the large ring, 03, P-14 or modern commercial actions. Basically they are more dangerous to be holding if you make a woopsy.
>>
they’re basically the same thing and the differences will be found in autistic minutiae.

>Caliber difference of like 4 human hairs
>Imperceptible difference in ogive length
>Action length difference of like 3mm
>~5-10% difference in sectional energy

I guess let’s say the Mauser cause I’m biased towards CETME style cartridges and that gets closer. It’s got a longer, wider, finer bullet and a lower overbore ratio.
>>
>>64637995
Ballistics-wise, casual faggot.
>>
>>64639470
>6.5x55?
Europeans do load those to higher pressures. You'll occasionally run into a hunter with a custom gun and loads that are not safe for the old world war rifles. 7mm Mauser on the other hand, while it's a great cartridge, it ended up being completely overshadowed by 8mm Mauser. All the poors in the old world used 8mm as much as we Americans used 30-06.
>>
>>64638018
Lol, .243 is better than 6mm. What a moron.
