Why isn't the 5.56 RDB more popular? I shot one at the range today as it was extremely pleasant to shoot. Nice trigger and adjustable gas system

It's a bullpup.
>>
>>64692773
>>64692845
my experience is that it's actually the most boring of the bullpups. It's like saying "why isn't the AR-15 more 'popular' as defined by people talking about it?" It's far and away the most common bullpup that I see at matches. It's really great for suppressing. It's also absurdly light. I have two of them because I like them so much.
It's better than the Tavor, FS2000, and MDRX
>>64692919
the ejection system isn't finnicky. it's an AR-18. It just goes down.
Saying it's "finnicky" just means you've never looked inside one.
If you want an example of a finnicky system, the MDR and MDRX forward eject is an absolutely garbage system. If the toggle lock fails or you have either too much or too little bolt velocity, you end up with a smashed case inside the receiver that prevents you from disassembling the rifle until you yank off the ejection cover and dig around in the guts of the rifle with a flathead screwdriver. I still love shooting them though.

>the ejection system isn't finnicky. it's an AR-18. It just goes down.
>Saying it's "finnicky" just means you've never looked inside one.
Ejecting behind the magazines is a finicky solution. It requires the bolt to travel all the way back. If it doesn't quite go all the way back the case wont be ejected but a new one will still be stripped from the magazine.
>>
>>64692845
>The downwards ejection likes to shove hot brass down your shirt or pockets.
I would have to assume they make something like picrel for the RDB, this was the best accessory money I spent on my KSG

>Ignore the racket made by these savages. There are more women than men in their ranks. They are not soldiers — they are not even properly equipped. We have beaten them before and when they see our weapons and feel our spirit, they will crack. Stick together. Throw the javelins, then push forward: knock them down with your shields and finish them off with your swords. Forget about plunder. Just win and you will have everything.

The uniform that you wear, and the globe-and-anchor emblem that you have earned, will make the difference between the freedom of the world and its enslavement.
December 7th was quite a day, in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
On the same day, December 8th, on the other side of the international dateline, in places called Guam, Wake, the Malay Peninsula, Hong Kong, the Philippine islands, we were also attacked by the army, air force, and navy of the Empire of Japan. The Japanese are in the process of taking half of the world. And they mean to keep it -- with death from the air, land, and sea.
But here is what the Japs are not expecting: The United States Marine Corps.
Now, never mind Europe -- the Nazis, Mussolini, Hitler, is not gonna be our job. Well, not until they can't whip him without us.
The Pacific will be our theater of war. The Marines will do battle with the Japs on tiny specks of turf that we have never heard of. You, noncommissioned officers, you are the sinew and the muscle of the corps. The orders come from the brass and you get it done.
And whenever this war is over, when we have swept upon the main islands of Japan and destroyed every scrap of that empire, the strategy will have been that of others. The victory will have been won by you -- you, the NCOs., with the chevrons on your sleeves, and the instincts in your guts, and the blood on your boots.
Those of you who are lucky enough to get home for Christmas -- hold your loved ones dearly; and join them in prayers for peace on earth and goodwill toward all men.
And then report back here ready to sail across God's vast ocean, where we will meet our enemy and kill them all.
Merry Christmas.
Happy 1942.

My great grandfather was a decorated officer in the US Airforce during the Korean War. My great uncle has a display case with his medals, and his service rifle, which is a select fire M2 Carbine. I haven't inspected it closely, so idk if it's functional or demilitarized. If it is functional idk if it registered or transferable.

Has anyone heard of a scenario like this before? I can't find any examples online of an officer being given an M2 when they retired. I'm also certain that it is an M2, not an M1 Carbine.

My great uncle plans to give me his guns, including that one at some point in the near future. Obviously I hope it's transferable, but I think that could only be the case if it was registered when he retired. I doubt that he submitted any paperwork for it later in his life, and I know that my great uncle never did.

Any thoughts or advice?

This has happened before. You either keep it quiet and play ignorance if it ever comes up, or you try and do things legally.

If you wanted to do things legally, first, look for any NFA paperwork. If it exists, good, you just need to trace legal inheritance to find the rightful owner. Then file a form with the ATF to transfer it to that new owner via inheritance. If you don't know if there is any paperwork, you can submit the serial to the ATF, tell them you think you have an MG and are trying to find out if it's transferrable, and they'd check to see if it's in the registry. If it is, then you'd need to prove the line of inheritance and the new owner does the NFA transfer. If it isn't, the ATF takes it and nothing happens to you because they're happy you tried to follow the law. If it is in the registry, the ATF can't tell anyone but the legal inheritor, so figure that out first, otherwise they'd take it and try to find whoever that is themselves. The inheritor must accept the transfer and can't decline it in favor of someone else. If the inheritor doesn't want it, then the ATF keeps it.

t. grandpa's war-trophy MP40 was found in the attic after grandma passed away and this is what the lawyers and ATF said to my uncle, who got to keep it.

Still reeling from the sheer retardation of the Battleship proposal, plus that it'll be replacing the DDG(X) project.

But the FF(X) looks good. It won't have VLS in it's first flight, but it'll have an established supply chain and available logistics for repair and maintenance. As long as they don't try to make more capable than it needs to be, i think it'll be a good boat.

Based.
All premarital fornicators should be branded, with the names of all the people they have premaritally fornicated with.
They should also be branded with the names of any sexual diseases they have contracted.
The brands should also be tattooed on top, to make them more visible and legible.
Anyone possessing such brands should be barred from marriage.
Women possessing such brands should be barred from any employment outside of whorehouses.

I mean, we already gave the money to Israel.

At least this way we've made sure they're spending ~2-3 years worth of US funding on US arms.

This $8.6B isn't fresh money out of the US tax payers coffers. Israel is paying us for the jets.

Again, $8.6B is multiple times over the amount we fund israel each year, so this is one of the ways we actually get the tax money BACK from Israel.

Yes, it is a bad idea. The FF(X) is Trump's Death Star which is just a "scary big weapon" to satisfy his enourmous ego, but ultimately just impractical in real-life warfare.
But as we know, Palpatine was wrong and Admiral Thrawn was right with his idea of having a numerous fleet of small but fast ships that could attack, counter-attack and retract with ease.

A mossberg patriot in .308 is going to end up being more expensive than an AR when you factor in ammo, even if you don't shoot much and it's going to be less pleasant to shoot due to the larger round and the fact hunting rifles are generally light for caliber and have very light barrels for caliber that heat up fast.
it's like how hunting shotguns are generally lighter and less pleasant to shoot then clays shotguns

Any gun will shoot decently to 200m as long as it's not dug up from a river or is a pistol

You can hunt with with a stick as long as you're a certified hunter
>>64694532
> Le - le poor
Europe is not one county but in general same regulations apply and they don't involve goofy gun grip design laws like in some us states.
Category B firearms are handguns, revolvers, shitguns, bolt and semi automatic rifles of any kind as long as they have a matching serial and they're sold with licences.
Not OP, I don't have a patriot but I've used a savage a few times, seemed like a nice gun for the price the owner told me and it's "cheap" build quality
>>
>>64694687
It's legal but other hunters will moan, at least here. So you need to "look the part" along with your weapon.
>You can hunt with with a stick
Not here, needs to be a firearm (smokeless, can't be blackpowder). I wish we could hunt wolves with spears.

>>64694615
I meant why compare US to Europe. Prices will be different so it might not be a 1:1 comparison. Even inside Europe it's not necessarily going to be 1:1. .308 for a dollar per bullet. It's fucking grim.

>Soviet design
No
>and manufacturing
Yes
Soviet design was good, sometimes even very good. But their primitive, vodka fueled manufacturing manned by pathological cheaters and liars created by commie 'society' was unable to produce anything even remotely similar in quality and/or parameters to original designs.
The 'adaptng the design for mass production', aka using shit materials and methods, never mentioned in original project was a norm in soviet industry, both military and civilian.
This lead to other phenomenon: 'the curse of magnificent prototype'. When new piece of hardware was introduced and initially tested, it was performing admirably and was often really amazing. However, that was a single (or just few) unit literally hand-made by highly skilled personel, under strict supervision of the designers, following the necessary procedures and using correct, high quality materials.
Since in Russia retarded economy and society none of the above can (and won't) be kept in day to day life, the moment a design was passed to factory, it turns into a pile of expensive, barely functioning shit. See the story of 'best in the world ans impossible to intercept' Kindzhals.
Add to this widespread and rampagng falsyfing of 99.99% of feedback, reports and/or documents in order to please (equally ignorant) supervisors and you will have a story of Russian manufacturing since 1918 until today.
