Hey, you forgot the unarmed LCS and the Zumwalt, which is 50% more tonnage than a Tico but has less firepower than a Burke while costing over half as much as a carrier.

*so we have an unarmed patrol ship
an unarmed frigate
a new cruiser that has less firepower than a 40 year old destroyer
a new battleship that has the about the same firepower as a 50 year old cruiser less than 1/3rd its tonnage
And a 40 year old destroyer.

Americans don't understand that turd world shitholes and non-aligned countries don't want globohomo and just want to buy military hardware with no strings attached.

EU MIC are too snobby and too condescending towards turd world shitholes even if the latter could pay, there is still internalized racism even after the colonial eras are over.

Enter Israel, Turkey, China, Brazil, South Korea; they just sell their wares and don't give a fuck who it gets used on since these turd world shitholes will never attack their source country in any way shape or form. They don't impose their politics on military hardware, no killswitches (maybe telemetry and tracking save for Turkey and Brazil) and they won't be holier than thou on the negotiating table; your cunt can either afford it or not.
>>
>>64687887
China is also a lot like dealing with the US.
You gotta agree with their side of international politics to keep the sales going and they are also looking at putting kill switches in some of their internationally sold weaponry.

>"The US doesn't do kill switches."
They publicly teased the idea and then after saying they wont also publicly said it's not a guarantee they won't look at the option later. It's something you gotta consider when you start buying US arms. Same with China.

It lets you draw your own OnScreenDisplay (like the HUD in games) for quadcopters (also general UAVs, why not?) and test it out in a GoodEnough(TM) simulated environment, all in the browser (Firefox at least, the Chromium-based ones seem more finnicky when it comes to WebGL). Idea being you can easily verify the formulas and general feel before porting over and implementing it on the actual drone with data from the sensors.

Of course you can try to mimmick real life cockpits or animu designs like from Patlabor but displaying telemetry data is just the fun tip of the iceberg, once you start renouncing your well-adjustment to society and get into world space - screen space projections you can do all sorts of nicer things. Picrel, for example, is a basic true horizon overlay for instrument-like flying through fog, smoke etc. And since you know speed and heading, you can figure out the velocity vector, then with the current position, altitude and the fall time it would take, you get the landing spot, basically a crude CCIP. Which you then project based on current pitch, yaw, so on. Add pre-known target positions and you work towards a CCRP. All these ghetto-rigged on your own cheap drones.

LTC won the contract and is sending the first 80,000. The award is optioned so they'll be making nearly a million of them for the close combat force.
>VTP
No reason to throw away perfectly good REV. Js. You see how much Apex is trying to sling new ones for? They improved on controlling plates so they don't fall off the trucks. It's not the wild west of 2015 anymore where you could consistently buy SAPIs and ESAPIs on the cheap.
>28595s
People that don't know what the 28595s are will sell them for comically cheap. I think two guys in /arg/ got them for $400 a set. People that know what the 28595s are also know what LTC 28570s are, and the 28570s will put a cap on the 28595 pricing. I marked the CR-6450SA and 28595 anyway with a $$ because they are mid-high price wise on a regular day.
>Defender 275s
Specs don't line up with the Ceradyne 92547. That's a multi-hit Level IV swimmer just over 5lb. The Defender 275 is 0.62" thick and provides only single hit B-32 API protection. The thickness reveals it has no drop protection, because plates like the 28595 are 0.85-0.9" thick.

Why was the Longbow in use for literally 300 years when it simply could not penetrate armor? I have watched several experiments with modern reproductions and never once has it achieved penetration of plate armor. In this latest one they can't even pen at point-blank range a late medieval brigandine and cheap Sallet helmet which was worn by poorfag troops. Rich nobles wore high-end bespoke plate made from tempered steel with every surface calculated to deflect blows and it would have zero chance against that. The amount of training that went into using the bow doesn't seem worth the results.

Primarily elite troops were armored enough to be immune to longbows- as others have mentioned, due to the volume of fire, even if the longbows don't penetrate- they could cause other problems for fully armored opposition.

Brings me to my other point, the English longbow obviously has trouble penetrating full plate armor and I'm sure high quality brigandine as well. But if we are talking about other forms of armor, it has no issue- not to mention, historical armor very well could have been made of lower quality materials, and been made to be functional with less material. It is difficult for modern armor smiths to make reproductions without them being completely superior to their historical counterparts.

Not as many soldiers had full protection as you think, equipping someone in that way was very expensive and laborious for all involved. Only the best or most wealthy would receive such honors.

First off, not everyone had fancy fitted plate armor. You had a lot of suits of old chainmail, brigandines, and half plate.

Second, being hit by arrows was disruptive and annoying. The English liked to provoke French charges into killing fields. Crecy, for example.

Third, armor wasn't uniformly thick. Plate armor was thickest on the head and torso but thinner on the limbs. You could still knock a man out of a fight with a hit to his sword arm.

Fourth, by the time brigandines came around you were seeing 100+ pound longbows and crossbows. Some heavy arbalests had thousand pound draws. Those hit a lot harder than the 30-60 pound bows in your vid.
>>
What are these fags trying to prove? That Agincourt or Crecy are fake history?

Clearly the longbow was an effective weapon and the English knew how to get the most out of it.

The Harlequin by Cromwell is worth a read if you want some bow kino

A dragon has claimed your city and is snatching up citizens to be part of its treasure horde

How would you, an ordinary citizen, take it out with only the weapons available to you? It has tough scales, can fly, spew fire, and is large enough to swallow a person whole. What can you do with the weapons and ordinance of a single civilian to kill it?

What's the minimum standard to train to if you are going to carry? I am not talking SOF, I am not talking some mercenary company standards.

Just something that a person can't do after 50 rounds, but 100% of people can do after 3-6 months. Think 2 plate bench / 3 plate deadlift.

I am guessing it's 2 rounds on target from rest or holster in x time. What's that x?

What's the best way to train for it?

Anyone got familiarity with Iver Johnson reproduction M1 Carbines? I've got one that wasn't in the best shape, clearly shot a lot at some point but never cleaned well (had to get a mallet to separate the fire control group from the bolt/barrel assembly). At this point, the only thing I can't figure out how to get out is the bolt. I'll post a couple of pics to help, but the gist is that, from what I can tell from this (frankly pretty shitty) manual I found online and videos about actual M1 disassembly, I should be able to rotate the bolt 90 degrees counterclockwise if I have it in the right spot, and then lift it mostly free, turn it 180 degrees clockwise to get the other lug free, and pull it out. Problem is, I can't get the bolt to turn all the way. The part of the firing pin that the hammer hits catches on this rail in the receiver before I can turn the bolt far enough to free it. Am I retarded, or do I have bigger problems?

First pic, bolt in battery from below.

>Chobam/hybrid ceramic is external
Isn't it kind of in between steel plates?
I have seen plate like kevlar liners inside armored vehicles. But I thought that was just there to limit the shrapnel effect of stuff that manages to penetrate the armor. The material mix of composite armour nowadays should kind of prevent the shockwave from traveling through it (unlike monotonous steel), so pieces of the inner part of the armour can't just peel of and liquify your crew.
