I was watching Ian's video on this captive pistol pistol and he said the round leaks gas out the front which gives it the volume of maybe a silenced 22 pistol or something. But there's got to be a way to improve these rounds so they're completely silent right? It would have limited application but still it'd be pretty cool

I doubt it's gonna happen unless the NFA is repealed. as far as I know each round counts as its own suppressor and has to be registered as such. yes it's much closer and far more economical once the $200 thing is gone, but still, registering each sounds like a massive hassle.
>>
>>64656373
Fair point. More just daydreaming now, but I wonder if you could register 100 rounds at once? It would be kind of hilarious to register 100 “suppressors” then tell them 50 were destroyed in one day.

Does captive piston ammo count as a suppressor?
>>
>>64655448
no dumbass, they have to leak unless you want the cartridge to explode the moment you try to extract it from the chamber, they never meant to "contain the gas" as most gun retards say it's another way to slow it down as it exits the barrel.
How in the fuck one could think an expended round could be extracted and lay around with something like 3000 bars in a thin brass cylinder

Why is holding a pistol like this so common in movies and videogames? Is there any real world purpose to instead of just holding it arm down pointed at the ground? Feels like it'd get tiring pretty quickly

Ergonomically it's easy to carry since the weight directly above the elbow joint and close to the shoulder. However, unlike simply letting it hang at your side, it's closer to the "work space" and it's mechanically less effort to present the pistol since the elbow just has to relax instead working against gravity to come up. Also, it looks cooler than letting it hang at the side.

Stamboulieh Law makes weekly videos on all the latest lawfare:
https://youtube.com/@2alaw

You've heard of FRTs, but what's a "super safety"?
>uses the safety to force the reset of the trigger
>allows for way more trigger options (you just have to trim two places)
>invented by Tim Hoffman (https://hoffmantactical.com)
>gifted to the world to freely 3D print
>enterprising people now selling super safeties made of steel (recommend at least 4140)
>cheaper than an FRT ($90-$150)
>originally a 3-position cross-bolt safety
>left is safe, right is semi, middle is super
>3-position 90° super safety selectors are now available

>>
>>64655793
Where are you seeing this? Nothing new on IG and the production status page was last updated on the 8th. He never responded to me on IG when I ordered on the 8th for a MP5 clone. The ATF raided him and its Joever for me isn't it?
>>
>>64658858
It's on the page for the arc on the site, they added the next batch info a few days ago. ATF isn't going to take another run at FRTs until Newsom is in office, get them while you can.

That aside anyone actually install and run one of the Diablo AK frts? The Beryl one from the same company looks cool but there really aren't any in depth videos and I'd imagine it's exclusive to the Beryl due to the left side selector (it's only a selector not a safety). I think having an frt draco like a PM MD 90 clone with a can would be a lot of fun. They both seem to be pretty new, I'd really like to hear some personal anecdotes.

This gun looks cool af but is it any useful? Guess it might be better against an angry bear than 10 mm but nobody values his life enough to buy a $1900 gun for this purpose.

Isn't such capable platform (gas operated with rotating bolt) unnecessary for 357 magnum, considering that 10 mm isn't much weaker and there are glocks chambered in it?

Have you ever shot it? What caliber was it and how it felt compared to 1911?

I owned one and sold it because it didn't do anything particularly well. It's heavier and worse than large caliber revolvers and doesn't have a much larger capacity either. If you really want a big gun that you can justify as bear defense, buy a revolver chambered in something like 45-70 or 500S&W

it's not that super powerful dude. 500S&W has anywhere from double to triple the energy of 50ae.

The only real advantage I can think of that the Desert Eagle has over the powerful revolvers is you can quickly reload it with another magazine, but that should never factor into anything in a real-world application

Having documents is not the same thing as understanding the documents. It takes decades to teach people how to do it.

how did the indians manage to arm and support their warriors with the white devils' thunder sticks? they clearly didn't know how to make bullets or even black powder for that matter, so where did they get ammo, spare parts, lubricant etc?

Early on while fighting British settlers, they would trade furs for guns with the French. When fighting the Americans in the Revolutionary War, they'd trade furs with the British.
>>
>>64658456
They largely got all their bullets and powder etc from the same trade they got the guns from in the first place, besides gaps they could fill in some way like animal fat for lubricant.
Trade was easy for for them because how does anyone long before governments have even invented 'income taxes', before even one country owns the Americas, before any country in the Americas even has a solid border, stop people from selling to Indians? Indians had awesome shit like furs and squaws and random white people went to the frontier constantly to obtain those things in exchange for trifles like a cast iron pot or black powder or bullets.

They didn't have an ultimate logistical solution which is why they don't exist anymore. There were cases when Indians had better firepower and humiliated the white man in some battles, and then always got wiped out eventually away because the white man had a massive industrialized and populous civilization and reacted to every defeat by sending a larger better equipped and supplied army and chasing the Indians around until the Indians sued for peace exhausted/freezing/starving.
>>
For the right price, anything can be for sale.
But they'd do shit like gnaw on bullets to swage them down if they didn't fit. It was sort of like how today if you pick a criminal today out at complete random, there's a decent chance his weapon is
>in such poor condition it's barely operable
>wrong ammo loaded, wouldn't have actually worked anyway

dropped out after ~3y (only 1y if excluding entry tests and following training), so wouldn't call is success
even made the officer req
anyway

you can usually just look up the physical requirements for your country & specific unit
it's probably lower than you think, like >12 pullups, 20reps 75% bw bench press, 12min >3km etc. gave already max points for us
imo the hardest part is the sleep exhaustion + marching long distances with lots of weight

for character development it's hard to describe
generally most members will be 25-35yo, so that should give you a hint

Basically be able to do a perfect marine PT score. So 3 miles in 18 min or less. 20+ pullups. 100+ situps. 100+ pushups. Being able to do this will make the physical part very doable.

that is untrue. they fixed several problems with the Garand and didn't have any new ones. I agree that it was outdated by the 50s and they should have adopted something else, but that is largely irreverent to this conversation because we are in the last few days of 2025 where anything other than an AR is obsolete. the M1A is no more a bad gun in 2025 than the Garand because both are completely obsolete.

That's better than I expected desu. Neither police departments nor gangbangers are loading AP rounds into their guns so I'm happy with that.

And in any case, we set a $100 limit on gifts.
>>
>>64658650
Gangbangers are increasingly picking up green tips for use in ARPs. M855 is easy as long as you aren't running all-PE plates.
Police departments are a mixed bag. The apparent preference is still "barrier blind" 5.56 per Dr. Gary K Robert's recs, which isn't really AP. It just will get you through automobile glass / panels and intermediate barriers fine and then still produce good, FBI-standard terminal ballistics.
SWAT teams, especially trained snipers, will have access to AP ammunition of significant capability. 7.62x51mm Swiss P AP is $2 a round on dept letterhead, and will kill most Level IV plates. It's somewhat better than M993, the XSAPI threat. The list of plates rated to stop it is very short. Gilliam 8002, Adept Colossus, TAS Xtreme, Tencate CX-950 IC, a REV. D XSAPI possibly, REV. C and earlier if backed with stouter than required soft armor and standoff is favorable. Some old Ceradynes were advertised to do it but those are rarer than hen's teeth now and old Ceradynes are inadvisible now for various reasons.

Long story short is the government has access to rounds that will pierce any plate. Swiss P is very old and weak compared to the newer stuff. It's a probability game, not possibility. The rounds are there, question is how often they'll show up. Swiss P is also in private possession, rarely, along with M993.
>>
If anyone wants proof of the "Swiss P for $2 a round" deal, here's the link.
https://armsunlimited.com/swiss-p-308-win-armor-piercing-ammo-196-grain-tungsten-carbide-core/
>>
Anyone want pulled .30-06 M2AP projos? $295 for 111. Reload these into a .300 winmag, weatherby, or RUM to about 3,300ft/s and you can clear most Level IV plates. IVs are only required to stop this round up to 2,910ft/s.
