Whats the longest spear that you could theoreticaly use in a phalanx?
>>64694444Dunno about a phalanx but the Irish rebellion of 1798 used ash pikes that were 10-12 feet long and 20 feet at the extreme and the swiss guard renasiance pikes are quite long 16-18 feet. Most tap out at less than 20 feet the sarissa was an extreme that went above 20 feet but not by much 21-22 feet. The practical limit for a man therefore seems to be 20 feet and that's as part of a unit that is using it as a tactical weaponn with the support of pikemen with shorter pikes,I could write you an essay on their use, it's far more complex that simply holding them out or thrusting, shorter pikes were drawen back and flicked out rapidly in a thrust, some had hooks or horizontal projections specifically to catch the reins or bridles or headgear of riders then they were drawn back in pulling the rider or the horse towards his fellow pikemans thrusts. Your worst nightmare as a rider is getting your horses head harness or eiigns caugt in a pike head when you are facing a line of pikemen. It was a spectacularly savage form of warfare, several pike men could phyically elevate an opponent implaled on their pikes into the air and execute in that manner and this was often done to enourage surrender of units remaining standing. Here's a decent overbiew of renassiance pike drillhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHAr7Ewv9rIL

A dragon has claimed your city and is snatching up citizens to be part of its treasure hordeHow would you, an ordinary citizen, take it out with only the weapons available to you? It has tough scales, can fly, spew fire, and is large enough to swallow a person whole. What can you do with the weapons and ordinance of a single civilian to kill it?

Let me guess, you think your airforce needs more expensive higher performance aircraft. You could get 5 of these fucks and arm them for the price of an empty KR-67.
And five of those would lose to a single F-35 and get their pilots killed.
>>64699761>You could get 5 of these fucks and arm them for the price of an empty KR-67.the KR-67 can carry enough missiles to simultaneously shove an AMRAAM and a sidewinder up each and every one of those TA-30's asses. have fun dumping flares while running the radar jammer

Thoughts about Baofeng radios?
>>64698812>I definitely didn't kerchunk my local repeaterNobody really cares if you do. It won't damage the repeater. I've heard pirates get in 40 meters and threaten to kill the president of the united states with no repercussions. >>64698852Nobody will care unless you're being a massive twat. Repeaters are local, so the owner can change the pl code until you guess it again. Even if you were outrageously harmful, people would just change repeaters or get on shortwave. In massive cities, you have hundreds of retards kerchunking repeaters regularly. If the repeater is active, you won't even hear it over chatter.
>>64698812>spy on their meetingsRadio is public access. Even p25 and dmr. There is no expectation of privacy on the radio. Some countries will send number codes in analog voice to their spies around the world over the air. They're 1 time ciphers, so they don't give a shit. Go ahead and listen.

Im looking at finally upgrading my hard use/bushcraft knife. I have a budget of around $300 and Ive used, abused, and cared for my becker BK10 for nearly a decade and it has all the wear and tear to show it. I could definitely use it for another decade, but I use it enough to justify getting something a bit better where edge retention and corrosion resistance isnt a constant battle of maintenance. Ive currently narrowed it down to two knives, the Bark River Bravo 1 in 3v, and the White river Ursus 45. Frankly if I could find the ursus 45 in 3v Id buy it in a heartbeat, I got to get my hands on one and the handle and balance feels great. My only sticking point is for $300 and a knife im gunna be using fairly hard and in some tougher environments Id prefer to have 3v steel, even if my only real justification is it soothes my autism to get the steel i want for a relatively expensive knife purchase. Any input?
>>64699756I went with the Architect AK 4.5, it looks like they still have 3V blades in stock. Blades are OEM by White River and the company is by the owners of The Knife Connection if I remember right. Coupon code”GIDEONSTACTICAL” brings a knife and sheath to just under $200 when I ordered. The downside is that it doesn’t have a convex grind.https://architectknives.com/product/architect-ak-4-5-build-your-blade/?srsltid=AfmBOop-HNLk6W90aDJEiYaZWbg2-rWRBgm4l6FqGSPoHyL21dyoJ4ix
>>64699815After researching that knife a good bit it seems to be everything I wanted. A bit stouter of a knife made in the steel i want by an OEM I know is solid. I appreciate the recommendation and I look forward to spending the next 10-20 years or more using it as my main use knife for backpacking/mountaineering.I keep a folding saw at least and usually a small hatchet with me for my backcountry trips so Im not super worried about the saber grind, its primarily a light kindling processing/general knife tasks tool. The very occasionally Ill use it for harder work than that Im sure ill have my ass covered with the 3v steel and stouter grind slope.>Pic rel, my soon to be retired bk10

>>64699941Oh, is there only 2 very specific videos?
>>64699941>these two specific instances are representative of a thousand mile frontlineYes. They are.>Ignore any commentary to the contraryThe key word here is commentary. While the Ziggers do frequently try to capture ground using stealthy infiltration with exceptionally small units, sometimes as small as just a pair of two guys, these attempts are almost always unsuccessful and just as likely to get them killed as the meat-wave assaults. The meat-wave assaults are STILL the main tactic employed by the pidoruskies.
>>64700087>While the Ziggers do frequently try to capture ground using stealthy infiltration with exceptionally small units, sometimes as small as just a pair of two guys, these attempts are almost always unsuccessful and just as likely to get them killed as the meat-wave assaults. You dont understand the doctrine. Its a drip-drip-drip approach whereby small infiltrations happen over time and 2 guys become 4 who become 8 and so on until there are enough guys to dominate that ground. In many sections of the front there is no front, its just a grey-zone. The tactic works in that it does result in gains and its better because it results in less meat-cubes. They are currently trying to adopt it army wide, obviously though they are incompetent retards so you still get the classic "entire platoon dies outside a farmers cellar" and other hilarious events. My prior posts were more generally directed at the shameless shilling and less about the general state of the Russian army or the front.
>>64700105>Its a drip-drip-drip approach whereby small infiltrations happen over time and 2 guys become 4 who become 8 and so on until there are enough guysTo fill at rench full of dead ziggers that you then claim are not representative of what's going on.
Which is better? Steam or Electromagnetic Catapults?
>>64698998No, the current type is determined by the way the coils and rotor windings are set up. There's nothing stopping anyone from attaching a DC generator to a turbine and cranking out a few hundred volts. The turbine doesn't care what's hooked up to it, it just spins.
