Have you ever had people bother you for shooting guns outside of ranges? I'm thinking hunting, shooting on public land, shooting in your backyard, etc.

How did it go?

Well... some places normally regarded as parks (upstate NY) are Wildlife Management Areas, so you have what to most people seems just a section of woods the county owns for dog walking or whatever, sometimes has hunters on it.
I've been out on opening day of deer for rifle (semi new in NY) on a place like that and had a guy with his dog and a music player blasting walk in front of my blind.
Otherwise you *can* shoot year round there, nobody does. Everyone nearby that knows it also has shooting land though so they don't bother.

As a follow-up question: what's the consensus on the TA02? I liked using an acog when I was in the Army, and this one seems to fix the two issues the old fiber-optic one has which is being sometimes too bright and too fragile. Seems like a good deal as well.

>While the Ziggers do frequently try to capture ground using stealthy infiltration with exceptionally small units, sometimes as small as just a pair of two guys, these attempts are almost always unsuccessful and just as likely to get them killed as the meat-wave assaults.
You dont understand the doctrine.

Its a drip-drip-drip approach whereby small infiltrations happen over time and 2 guys become 4 who become 8 and so on until there are enough guys to dominate that ground. In many sections of the front there is no front, its just a grey-zone. The tactic works in that it does result in gains and its better because it results in less meat-cubes. They are currently trying to adopt it army wide, obviously though they are incompetent retards so you still get the classic "entire platoon dies outside a farmers cellar" and other hilarious events.

My prior posts were more generally directed at the shameless shilling and less about the general state of the Russian army or the front.

A dragon has claimed your city and is snatching up citizens to be part of its treasure horde

How would you, an ordinary citizen, take it out with only the weapons available to you? It has tough scales, can fly, spew fire, and is large enough to swallow a person whole. What can you do with the weapons and ordinance of a single civilian to kill it?

Incredible coward talk

Greetings pol,

Ever wonder what Trump actually meant when he said we had Jet aircraft that could literally disappear? Not just from radar, but from optical light too. The media called him crazy, here's what he meant.

Now let's consider this, do you know what a Luneburg lens is? It can be used in devices that under certain conditions act as phase conjugate time reversal mirrors. Especially if a Bose Einstein Condensate is used as a buffer. Anyway, a configuration such as this can probably me used as a type of "Active Cloak" or "Broadband Cloak" for an aircraft (as Luneburg Lens's are already installed upon most US stealth aircraft for supposedly different purposes). Probably functioning in a way similar to how acoustic time reversal mirrors cancel unwanted noise.

A properly made luneburg lens antenna would be of a layered metamaterial, with a gradient refractive index from the outside surface, to the innermost point. By it's nature, it's already designed to reflect EM energy back along the path that was taken to reach the antenna/lens...combined with a BEC acting as a buffer material and with a negative refractive index, we can create what is a perfect time-reversal lens.

Officially, these types of devices are only put onto stealth planes to make them more observable to radar during training exercises. However they can also make their radar profile much larger than the plane itself (obfuscating radar)...but what if it was used to either bend light around the craft? Or create destructive interference around the craft in order to eliminate any radar return?

I can't believe this stupid nigger doesn't know about mid-air refueling. This entire thread is just buzzwords
>>
I have little to add to this thread beyond the fact that BECs were the main plot mcguffin in a sci-fi netflix slop movie released a few years ago. Funnily enough the main use is to make things invisible. Also one of the co-inventors of the supercooling method became Secretary of Energy under Obama.

But I'm sure it's all just one big coincidence and we're all schizos.
>>
>>64700475
The research into it is real and the Fark knowers were most likely real, but the retarded faggot OP mixed up his buzzwords. Cesium BEC is used for laser pulse compression, phase conjugating optics help mitigate atmospheric distortion. Hard to say if the dugway zapper stuff was real or not, I lean towards Bedlam trolling us with that one
>>
>>64700439
It's been a long time since Ive researched anything physics related. I don't know much about the concept. But a regular plasma shield, if possible, would create enormous amounts of heat that would make it an option that's not viable with today's material.
Iirc, "cold plasma" is just theoretical given current technology. But it would be the viable option as far this subject is concerned.
I would expect both to give off enormous amounts of emi and rfi. Good example is an extremely close lightning strike (inb4 plane comments). Due to superheating and ionizing the air during a lightning strike, plasma is created. This amount of energy creates short lived interference with will result in your TV or radio signal being interfered with. Possibly even the electrical grid giving you a quick "reset" for lack of a better term.

What's the culture like between branches of the US military? I'm considering both the Air Force or Army, but open to anything if persuaded enough.
>>
Army and Marines treat you like shit. Go Air Force or Space Force.
>>
>>64700279
If you want to fuel airplanes and hang out on an airfield then go Air Force. If you want to shoot guns and march around go Army.
Honestly, the Air Force and Army have such a broad scope of jobs available that it really depends on what you want to do. Army has lots of rear echelon stuff to do. And some pretty elite combat units if that's the route you want to go. Air Force has some too I guess, but smaller units. In the Air Force, in general if you get a non-Aircraft related job you will be kinda looked down on by those who do.
In the Army, rear echelon stuff will be looked down upon by combat dudes too.
The Air Force accommodations are nicer, but it's not as cool as saying you were in the Army.

What's the minimum standard to train to if you are going to carry? I am not talking SOF, I am not talking some mercenary company standards.

Just something that a person can't do after 50 rounds, but 100% of people can do after 3-6 months. Think 2 plate bench / 3 plate deadlift.

I am guessing it's 2 rounds on target from rest or holster in x time. What's that x?

What's the best way to train for it?

>Combat shooting training pre gwot
>Your story fell apart there.
Dad was infantry in Vietnam, he taught me, my mom, and my sister small unit tactics. His idea was our family of 4 was equivalent to a fireteam. I'm guessing you're too young to remember the wild ride that was early 90s religious fundamentalism/militas since you think combat shooting came out of the GWOT era and not from stuff like Massad Ayoob, StressFire, Combat Handguns, and Soldier of Fortune magazines (which were all held in nearly as high regard as the Bible, Focus of the Family, and Zion's Fire). We listened to people like Bo Gritz every day on the radio, as we didn't watch TV since it was Satanic Democrat propaganda. Meeting Randy Weaver at a gunshow was one of the highlights of my dad's life. We were home schooled, and trained to run inside and hide if we heard "black helicopters" approaching, since they would see kids not in school and would report us to the government, who would then come and burn us alive like they did at Waco.

2-2.5 second Bill Drill at 7 yards from holster.
work on getting up to 15 yards in 3.5 or less.
Work on getting fist sized or smaller groups when you practice. You'll learn all kinds of things about how shitty your grip and trigger pull are and be able to start correcting them. The goal is that if you have to draw your gun for real you'll get a ton of hits in the A and C zone because you're used to trying to be precise and fast in training. When the adrenaline dump happens it will fuck you up but you'll be "combat accurate" which was explained to me as hitting what you are shooting at as many times as need to end the threat. Groups won't matter if you stitch Jamal from sternum to balls or left shoulder to right hip bone with 6 shots in 2-3 seconds. Follow up as needed with 6 more if that's what it takes. End of novel.
>>
>>64698038
Negative.
Concealed carry classes are the Ford Pinto of gun anything. Those courses are designed to get you the knowledge of the law and you may get 10 rounds fired into an FBI target with 10 inch circle on it. If you get 8 anywhere in the circle you get your CCW. Should you do this? Yes. If you want to get good at shooting a pistol you need real deal 1-1 lessons. If your LGS is any good the owner or RSO is going to know who the good instructors are. Your pappy and your buddy who was in the Army aren't the people you are looking for. Take some lessons. Practice. Practice some more. Then go take one of the cool courses available out there with one of the names if you have some spare jack. I know two dudes that went to one of Stoegers courses and they said they learned a ton and laughed their asses off. Shoot some competition. Steel Challenge is the easiest and most accessible. Practice. Have fun. Look cool.

I appreciate ypu saying that. My upbringing made a lot of things in life difficult. I went down a bad road for a while when I first left home, my 20s are just a haze of drugs, booze, violence, and sex when I went full opposite of what I had been taught, even voted Democrat once in a local election lol. I still have a healthy distrust of government and authority in general, which is ironic as I now work in state government. Went no contact with my family for a long time, but we've all mellowed a bit in the last couple decades and have a reasonably good relationship. Time fixes a lot, as does distance. Hope your GF finds peace as well. Have a safe and productive new year.

>>

Standardization
They now only have to produce one length of recoil spring assembly for every Glock that's G19-sized or larger (so far meaning G17/19/45/49)
I believe they also switched back to single-spring assemblies for 9x19 Glocks, as someone else mentioned likely had to do with the fact that it made the slides slightly less durable due to removing material near the front of it
>>64696912
Haven't had hands-on experience with one but I think they look neat
>>64697126
Baller, in that case G20 if you want something you could potentially carry (assuming you're both capable of concealing/open-carrying a duty pistol, but if it's the former you're not like that one guy who was here a long while back posting about his 8"-barrel 9x25 Dillon G40 that he carried appendix) or G41 if you simply want a .45 version of the G40 (though personally, never been keen on .45 Glocks - I'm sure they're fine and all but I just don't like .45 unless it's in one of three specific firearms)
>>
>>64699968
Problem is US loaded bulk 9x19 is typically dogshit. If you can see straight shank on the bullet you can usually perk it up just by knocking it back a bit and collet crimping.
