Will it ultimately be a cult hit like the AR-15?
22 replies omitted. Click here to view.
>>
>>64761936
It's just an overgrown AR-18 with a really stupid ammo spec. The fact that Sig got so much money for it should be a bigger scandal.
>>
>>64762039
They got popular because of the end of the AWB ban, a million GWOT vets coming home, and Call of Duty.
>>
>>64762039
It got popular thanks to the ability to make unlicensed copies and it's cheaper (as a small shop) to machine aluminum than machine, stamp, or cast steel. The modularity of the platform also allowed it to be shoehorned into every niche.
>>
>>64762015
The AP argument is sadly still a losing battle. If you're in the know, the Chinese company Shandong Yasai Ceramic Technology Co. has a economical means of producing titanium diboride-doped Silicon Carbide, the type of ceramic used in the Adept Colossus, Archon, Gilliam 9969, and some forms of Hexar / Dragonskin. They're likely the actual OEM of the ceramics for all the above armor. This ceramic is excellent for beating tungsten penetrators, better than normal Silicon Carbide, and not terribly heavier.
It would not be difficult for China to develop an XM1184-proofed plate, but they have other, greater priorities.
>>
When will we expect the Army to standardize on one AR-10 design when the Sig gets booted?

If you can't see why a system that can't differentiate between fact and fiction being armed and autonomous is a definitively bad thing for law enforcement or for general public safety, then you're fucking retarded, bar none.
>le cops are good guys and nothing but, you have nothing to worry about

Fucking idiot. You, of all the "people" I've spoken too recently, will deserve the policing you will recieve the most.
>>
Exoskeletons have been a thing for years, the military doesn't have them because they are a cheap practical solution, and not some wonder weapon with a billion dollar development price
>>
>>64761207
If the pattern follows then Powered Exoskeletons are already developed and DARPA is just holding them back to catch an opponent off-guard. Kinda like Operation Black Magic.

>aieeeee autonomous units that can't differentiate between fact and fiction! maybe even armed!
Those are called humans and we've coped with them for hundreds of thousands of years. You're butthurt because robots would remove schizos' narcissistic coping mechanisms. Without your fantasies of "snapping" and hurting innocent humans at best loosely related to the root causes, you'd have face the realities of organization, activism, warfare, or simply learn how the systems ruling you work.

We have just seen the US carry out Operation Absolute Resolve, a flawless raid in Venezuela but there's so much more than what meets the eye.
The fact that the Nightstalkers could just infil and exfil on gunships guns blazing is insane in the era of gay drones and MANPADS.
They didn't even have to worry about the overall IADS. IR dazzlers or just shooting back was very effective against any fuckers that tried to get a shot off. More than half of the air assets in theater being SIGINT and EW just shows the importance of spectral dominance in addition to SEAD and as SEAD itself. It's obvious Growlers used their brand spanking new mid-band Growler pods to jam fire control radars, F-35s used their Barracuda suites, but what the EC-130H's were doing could be anyone's guess. But the power went out and that says something.

Remember in 2025 when planes “fell off” carriers in two separate incidents?
>>
>>64759227
Exactly, what's your point? It was well reported and documented with detailed postmortem reports.
>>
>>64759212
Only thing i've heard is one heli hit by something, presumably a MANPAD since it caused shrapnel which injured the pilot and one other person.
>>
>>64760540
So one case of small arms fire and one from a MANPAD? Not too bad.
>>
>>64759212
Pure cope. If Venezuela downed a US chopper, you faggots would be spamming the obvious fucking videos of it on /k/ 24/7 minutes after it happened.
>>64759227
Oh, so you can show me the obvious crash sites of these planes, then, if they didn't fall off the carrier? Those inbred shitskins would've taken hours worth of videos and selfies around and on top of any US plane they downed to cope with the ass ravaging the US gave them., same with Venezuela. Since we haven't seen the obvious videos and images that would accompany a downed US plane by an enemy, it's fairly safe to assume the truth is they retardedly fell off of the carrier, and no helos were downed in Venezuela.
>>64761764
No, one from small arms fire that injured the pilot. What is with this samefagging cope?

>shutting down reactors and guzzling Russian gas
The whole 'shutting down reactors' thing has been a known factor for over three decades, simply due to reactor lifetime. But yeah, relying on Russia was a strategic mistake.
Buying Russian uranium wasn't exactly a better plan than buying Russian gas.

At least LNG is freely available on the world market, unlike uranium.
Also, the whole 'muh gas is so horrible for le environment' types can go climb a wall of dicks, Germany burnign LNG 24/7 would not even make a dent in a worldwide CO2 emission as long as India, China and all the other SEA countries keep burning coal and gas.

>Drug use
If you say it didnt happen, it didnt happen.
There is NO WAY they can know if you smoked weed 1000 times 2 years ago or did ketamine twice yesterday as long as you pass the drug tests.
Now, as for the drug test do not fucking pop shit a week, no, a MONTH prior. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT fail the drug test at MEPS. It will be a permanent disqualification for being a junkie with 0 impulse control. You can fail at the recruiter just try not to, they will make you do it again until you can pass.
CAVEAT if you did drugs socially and are trying to get a security clearance, if they speak to one of your contacts and they say you used when you told MEPS/your recruiter you didnt, they might ask you about this later on your clearance interview. DO NOT DENY USE IN YOUR CLEARANCE INTERVIEW IF THEY BRING IT UP OR YOU WILL NOT GET THE JOB YOU WANT. BE HONEST AND OWN IT.
>>64742563
You have the golden trifecta of certs for anything intel or cyber related right now.
Congrats.
Look into 1N2X1 because the tech school requires Sec+ (same as 1D7X1A) and if you have it you can be fast tracked out of training to your first unit much quicker.
>NDT
You sound like you qualify for it. I would pester your recruiter if you really wanted it even though your certs would be basically going to waste with this one.
>>
>>64761542
>>64762099 (Me)
cont.

>I haven't spoken to a recruiter yet
Go see a recruiter right now.
>is this more like a job interview
Truthfully no. Your recruiter doesnt give a shit. They should want to help you. Its MEPS that will try to fuck you and your recruiter up the ass and get you disqualified. You shouldn't lie to the recruiter about current drug use. You should talk with your recruiter about the best way to present (or not present) your history to MEPS. You and the recruiter strategize and build a plan of action and stick to it. Thats how this works.
Security clearance interview glowies are fucking retarded too but they are effective at extracting the truth from you and your listed contacts. Count on it that they WILL speak to other people who may know you that you did not list at the recommendation of your contacts. So make sure that if you are presented with your past, be able to own up to it and say that you have turned a new leaf and that stuff is behind you now.
A polygraph is not guaranteed either unless you have a substantially complicated past
>>
Smoked weed back in October. There's ZERO reason this will show up at meps, right?
>>
>>64762122
Also, hurry up and fucking wait, applicant. Go see a recruiter right now or suffer waiting even longer.
Air Force is selective on who gets in and on top of that, there is a backlog of applicants still from last year waiting to go to basic training. The sooner you see a recruiter, the sooner you can start the process of waiting.
And make sure you go on a day off because answering all the pre-screening questions and doing the initial documentation takes atleast 3-4 hours.
>>64761542
Same guy? Yeah just dont smoke from here on out. You got this.
You take two drug tests, one with your recruiter, one with MEPS. Dont fail the MEPS one.

Recently there has been a trend of Shaheds armed with various anti-aircraft missiles, both MANPADS and R-60s. Is there any real merit to this? I can assume that these are presumably supposed to cooperate with the drones we've seen carrying rear-facing cameras, with the missile Shadhed trailing the spotting one, but this seems like a lot of investment to put into a rather dubious shootdown chance.

>Didn't the ukies down a heli with a USV armed with a AA missile?
At least half a dozen of them, yeah. And potentially one or two planes. There was a ton of whining in Telegram channels since some of the shot down pilots weren't recovered because nobody bothered to send a recovery crew in a timely manner.
Ruslims had to create special rules where helicopters should approach the USVs from the back as to not get shot down kek.
>>
>>64760968
Yes, but that was on a boat with a gimbaled manpad, decent cameras and a starlink connection.
That's what we call a honest attempt at fucking with enemy aviation with a decent chance of success.

Active stealth is a fucking meme against actual stealth planes btw, since you need to fucking see the target before you can jam it.
And shockingly, actual stealth planes have radars too that will see you first, target you first and maybe, if they feel funny, jam you first.
