Let me guess, you think your airforce needs more expensive higher performance aircraft.
You could get 5 of these fucks and arm them for the price of an empty KR-67.

The SPAS-12 is gas operated, and the pump-slide simply pulls the piston back when you use it in manual mode.
>>

Yeah that silly thing isn't so much a pump/semi as a semi (but you can pump), I had the idea since I was having issues with some low power shells cycling and thought it would be convenient. As retarded as that idea is it's just a chunk of plastic/metal/whatever you can slap on an unmodified gun, I'm not so sure if I'd want to risk putting a homemade gas cutoff on a perfectly serviceable semi auto shotgun.

People like them because they're cheap, reliable enough, and run steel case. I have a SCAR, but if I didn't and had to get a .308, I would get an AR, or wait for the SCAR 2.0/ARKA to come out and just live with the fact that it's going to be expensive. Either is going to have better ergos and be easier to mount optics to than a PTR, FAL, or M14 clone.

Maintenance is probably the biggest job field in the AF but it has other shit. Finance, supply, medical, and security forces like any other branch, a bunch of aircrew/airborne specialty positions, intel, cyber, and SOF (PJs, CCTs, the weird weatherman people, 26th STS).
Why the Air Force? What do you want out of the military and what's your plan?

Great for the range and a lot of fun to shoot at paper with, but when I went to LARP with it, it wasn't what I hoped it to be. A hair below 8lbs fully loaded and long enough to catch on stuff, I realized what I thought and what I wanted were two different things.
Now, with SBRs (and Suppressors) having free tax stamps I can do different things. Shortening the barrel as much as possible to save on weight, make it handier, and save space for a can seems the way to go. 300AAC also preforms best in 10" barrels. I also realized min-maxing for targets out to 600yds was kind of stupid too, as it's a bit excessive in the dense areas I play pretend. The shorter effective range a heavier, slower 30 cal projectile would be fine, as well as a non-magnifed/fixed magnification optic to lighten my load.
Would 300AAC be the round for fantasies well I stomp around in the local national forest? I'm also interested in not having to get new mags, I acquired the loading dies in an estate sale, and I do like how well it lends itself to suppression.

Scar newfag here again - does anyone have any recommendations for slings? Not looking for anything crazy or tacticool (necessarily), just a solid 2 point that would be comfortable to carry it around with.
First batch of google-fu turned up BFG Vickers being well reviewed, but the mounts are really throwing me off. Would prefer something that isn't going to unduly scratch shit up.
>>
>>64707029
either spend $100 and buy pmm qd accessories plus a magpul dual qd sling. or spend $15 on a cheap Amazon sling that has clips. like pic related
>>
>>64707029
I'm using an OG VTAC sling on my L1A1 and like it. It attaches to sling loops by threading the strap back through a ladder lock, which is a silent, scratch-free and simple solution, the sling has about the right length & adjustability and I really like the quick-adjust feature.

You can find cheaper slings with the same features, and some weight + potential source of noise and scratches can be shed by choosing a simpler, plastic buckle for the quick adjust feature.
>>
>>64707234
>>64707379
Not looking to really cheap out on anything because I intend this to be my sort of "ride or die" gun. Between what yall listed the VTAC looks pretty nice, might look into that a bit more in earnest. Thanks for the advice anons.

I mean the two obvious niches it fills is being very easy to conceal, especially if you don't mind getting a little war crimey.
And the other is about war economics. If China finds itself in a prolonged naval conflict, converting civilian ships like this is worlds cheaper than building purpose built military vessels.
It's also inline with the whole dual purpose thing they have for their civilian ferries being able to work as landing ships

I've become fascinated with just how many gen 3 Glock clones exist. Which are the best ones?
>>
>>64707344
The Shadow ones are probably "the best". The Ruger seems pretty good, but if you just want a fuck-around gun to dremel on get a couple of PSA Daggers instead.
Real shame they fucked Poly80 out of business, those frames were sturdy as fuck.
>>
>>64707288
The mos# were direct cut from the factory for specific optics
>>
>>64706935
As someone who loves glocks(but not a 'fanboy'), I hate/don't care about the gen 6 at all. New optic system isn't well thought out. The plates are plastic and don't have fences at the front and back to cushion the optic so it falls to aftermarket like FCD to fix the problem. The gas pedals are ugly, and unnecessary for me and most other shooters, really only a positive for competition guys trying to get the gun flat as possible for fast splits. Having the beaver tail be an integral part of the frame and not an add on option with a grip panel was a bad choice. I like the look and feel of the beavertail but it isn't necessary and others may not want it. I don't care about the new trigger shoe, it'll get swapped for something better anyway. And imagine the biggest complaint many people, not me though, had for glocks was how bulky they felt so glock decided to add palm swells to the grip. Idk what they are thinking. Trigger gaurd undercut is gay and retarded. People will talk about how it makes the gun feel so much better but they removed only a whopping like 1 or 2/16's of material, not enough to matter. Seems like they got caught up in trying to throw all the flat range youtuber things onto it and mark the price up $170. I think the only good change they did was go back to the single spring assembly of the gen 1-3 glocks. They also changed the extractor system and the barrel geometry I heard, either in a ben stoeger or mr gunsngear video. Concerned how that will, if at all, affect reliability.

>>64706807
All societies depend on 'slave labor' and always will. A 50% tax burden is close to the same as everyone working half their life without tax and spending half their time directly conscripted into mandated jobs without pay.
I think a few years of slave labor that applies to everyone rich or poor and is in the cause of defending the country is pretty based.
That said it would also be pretty based to make everyone rich or poor pick up trash or work a customer service job for 1 year, if there was no pressing need to defend the country.
Most countries doing mandatory conscription have a bordering geopolitical threat that makes the military angle necessary.
Except for the the Swiss, who are surrounded by the world's most peaceful countries and still larp conscription and pretend to fight dragons or something. But still the Swiss don't get rid of it, so even the side benefits of military conscription must be doing something wonderful for them.
>>
>>64707024
desu I don't think it'd be a bad thing to have a "learn your fucking place, trash" mandatory community/national service that everyone has to do. I often find myself wondering how much better the world would be if the people with the power and wealth knew what it was like to lack those specific qualities for a year or two. Kinda like the same way that someone who's worked a shitty retail job won't be as much of a fuckass to employees as someone who hasn't.

From experience, ~90% of women in the military are a detriment worse than dead weight, and 10% are very effective hard chargers.
If a woman voluntarily signs up for a difficult job and she makes it past all the selection filtering, she's going to be good to go. Any job where there is a high and gender neutral standard and the women make it will normally filter out the shitty ones. A long selection pipeline gives them opportunity to get bored/stressed and quit. Those that don't are respectable.

The overwhelming majority of women slink into whatever the easiest, safest job available is and even then they have a high rate of malingering including intentionally getting pregnant to get out of danger if it looks like they might actually go anywhere near a combat zone.
These women are disruptive, materially wasteful (jesus christ they waste so much water), and in combat totally unreliable. They attention whore in photos especially when put into some PR role where gucci gear is piled onto them.

4S17M also meets DEA requirements above NIJ, so it's built to a higher spec, BUT the 10x12 is really 9.25x11 with bottom corner cutouts and the SAPI M is a lot heavier than the 4403 SAPI M.
Also the 4S17M is more expensive.
>Apex were right all along and Hesco really are trash.

>>64707141
>when even Gilliam makes plates that seem way better.
Sample size. He also changes plate specs daily. 9969 has changed specs three times in the past month. Test reports are way behind. Remember how the old 8002 ran over 44mm BFD?
>Shitting the bed and failing on the first shot vs. slightly overspec M2AP is a really big deal, IMO.
It is, I agree! Why the hell do you think I went out of my way to get 2230s?
If .300 winmag M2AP is out of rhe equation, the 4403 is fine. Big if though.
>Hesco also has a troubling history.
From five years ago and they cleaned up.
>very very rare
An anon's RMA 1155 failed against two .308 Tulammo, at 100 meters, even though that was an, as advertised, multi-hit Level IV. Bombed a third of the Level III test for an 8.3lb plate. Buff is probably getting better QC'd plates from certain companies than regular joes are. We know his 1192's were 10oz heavier, and according to him that was all ceramic! That's why the NIJ is so important. The 4403 is certed.
>>
>>64707197
> From five years ago and they cleaned up.
Not sure it looks like it. I have serious doubts about the 3801 and 3811 now.
The 4403 deserves a huge asterisk for sure.
And it's going to be interesting to see if there's any fallout from this video. Like Hesco sends Buffman a C&D or something like that.
>>
>>64707243
Well, they've got infinitely more certified ceramics than Gilliam, Militech, or RMA. I've got no problem conceding the 4S17M is a tougher plate, but 8.6lb is a hard bargain when the tougher still Protech 2230 is 7.5lb.
>3801
Will get its ass kicked by M855, and I mean badly. It's 1.95lb though.
>3811
NIJ-certified for six M80, concedly no idea on post-drop M855 until 0101.07 is in play and it gets recerted. IMO, it's just the 3810 with better PE. It's considerably more expensive.
>C&D
Last I checked, Buffman allows all mfg's a "veto" before he uploads videos, this is post-4SUS4 fallout stuff.
>>
So as an additional point, keep in mind anons that Level IV is M2AP at 2,910ft/s. The Hesco 4403 pretty conclusively fails if dropped and then shot with M2AP 80ft/s over that. Sucks, but it still meets Level IV specs and then some.
Think of it in real world circumstances. Out of an M1 Garand, M2AP loaded to WW2 spec has a velocity of 2,715ft/s. Even modern .30-06 165gr still pushes 2,800ft/s out of a 24" barrel. Buff usually uses a .300 winmag to get to NIJ velocity and then some.

At what distance and out of what gun do you reasonably anticipate getting hit by that kinda M2AP or above? Even if the above test applies to all 4403s, this ain't a panic button moment like the 4SUS4 or 4400. The 4403 still handles all reasonable CONUS threats. M993 will probably beat the fuck out of it even at standoff, and I'm leery on M995 out of a 20".
