For me, its Viking themes used by the US military. What are some good ones?

Pic related is the 47th Infantry Division patch showing their adherance to Viking Pagan ideals.

NTA but no, he isn't. You are writing science fantasy not science fiction. Science fiction is where you take a piece of plausible but unproven and possibly incorrect science or technology and then write a story exploring the effects it would have on how things are done, what form soviety takes etc. Science fantasy is where you do the opposite and fantasize into existence a setting, then weakly grasp around for conditions that make your fantasy setting seem plausible to you.

The fact that you come to an anonymous imageboard for the "science" part of your setting is pretty telling of the fact that your object is fantasy and any exploration of science and technology is completely incidental.

That's the version from last year that can totally detect stealth aircraft now, we promise bro. China has been making the stealth detection claim about the JY-27 for much longer than that. The pic in the OP is not a JY-27.

Ironically it's a JY-11B mobile anti-helicopter radar with "powerful electronic counter-countermeasures performance." It doesn't seem to have countered the countermeasures.

at least the occasional clean up to maybe find a soltuion is better than something that is outright self defeating
>we (a bunch of machines) have to kill you because you will kill yourself by making machines since our job was to stop machines from killing you
>this gets far worse if you managed to bring peace to the quarians and geth (which by the way was started by the quarians with most of the geth having no interest in a war with organics)
>>
>>64757257
That's just Synthesis
>no, we're only cleaning up those of you that are a threat to yourselves, and we even save all your data, right down to your genetic sequences. Maybe one of these cycles you bumblefucks will come up with something that doesn't require measures this extreme.

Got hasty. To reiterate the point, the dark matter ending still suffers from the same central flaws of the canon ending. And frankly, if we're going to stick with it, I prefer the post-Leviathan cosmic irony of organics making machines to solve the problem of machines killing organics and the machines decide that the solution is to kill organics but be massive data hoarders about it.

It's hilarious to me that Wehraboos are allergic to any mention of this gun, because it simultaneously forces them to admit both why most of the supposed advantages of the MG42 were disadvantages in practice and why the MG34 was better than the MG42 by being an MG42er MG42 that forces them to explain why the MG42 was actually kind of rubbish to vainly attempt to defend the MG42. The MG45 was to the MG42 what the MG42 was to the MG34: Cheaper, nastier, less accurate and less useful for anything but burning out barrels faster.

Russia has for the first time deployed new strike drones, the 'Geran-5' and 'Geran-4'.
>Russian forces first used the new strike drone 'Geran-5' during attacks on Ukraine in early 2026, according to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry. The drone is a large jet-powered UAV with a classic aerodynamic design, differing from earlier models.
>The 'Geran-5' has a length of about 6 meters and a wingspan of about 5.5 meters. It is equipped with a Chinese-made turbojet engine, capable of carrying a warhead weighing about 90 kg and hitting targets at a distance of up to 1,000–1,050 km. Its navigation system includes a 12-channel 'Comet' satellite system, a microcomputer-based tracker, and 3G/4G modems.
>According to Ukrainian intelligence, the design of the 'Geran-5' contains elements similar to the Iranian drone Karrar. There are discussions about the possibility of launching this UAV from aircraft, such as the Su-25, and its potential equipping with 'air-to-air' missiles.
>As for the 'Geran-4', it is known that it is an intermediate jet version between the early 'Geran' models and the new 'five'. According to preliminary data, this drone may have a warhead weighing about 50 kg, a speed of 350–500 km/h, a range of up to 950 km, and can also be launched from the Su-25.
>Thus, the 'Geran-5' is a new jet-powered long-range strike UAV, comparable in its characteristics to a cruise missile, while the 'Geran-4' is considered its less powerful predecessor

what's the point in hiring mercs who aren't at all familiar with your language, culture, or geography/climate?
51 replies and 8 images omitted. Click here to view.
>>
>>64745750
Actually, most mercenary groups were quite skilled and moderately disciplined. The issue was that they weren't motivated. You can't spend money if you're dead so mercenaries would spend a lot of time posturing and harassing but never committing to a decisive battle. In some cases, this was actually preferable since it let generals stall in one place while they won somewhere else.

However, modern mercenaries can't possibly afford the air, artillery, and armor modern militaries can so they're mostly just extremely competent security guards.
>>
>>64745750
It wavers back and fourth through time. Egyptians derided theirs's so much they they cut them out of all narratives, possibly where the disagreement which let to Exodus originated due to them not paying their tribal mercs. Greek mercs in Persian wars of succession were the gold standard. Hannibal's collection of mercs, some of the best ever. Roman auxiliaries century later, highly variable. 5th century everybody is mercs. Mercs in the 6th-8th century , brigands as likely to rob you as fight for you. 9th century mercs are chumps used by poor city states. 12th century mercs used by the same city states are elite skull-fuckers who can stymie formations of 20k Mongols with a few hundred men and a fort. 15th century mercs are so awesome that they get banned and slandered for 300 years. Hessians are peasants who get abducted and sent to fight in America then half desert. Mercs are then seen as scum until they start fighting commies in the late 50s at which point they are romantic patriots and red-blooded white men fighting against marxist bullshit and libtard anti-racist faggotry which have turned the former colonial holdings into utter shitpits Then it was just a way for a retired SOF man to make cash.
>>
>>64745627
Russians are albino niggers.
>>
>>64753187
There could be a niche for mercs who are basically combat engineers. They could charge a fortune, the equipment isn't that expensive and can be replaced by the employer at cost, and it does require experience and knowledge most nations cannot afford to institutionalize. They take risks but get paid the big bucks.
>>
>>64753288
A lot of combat engineering doesn't require specialized skills and often can be improvised by day laborers and trial and error.

Yesterday I bought the best pocket pistol ever made...
Budischowsky himself built this nearly 60 years ago with a quality you won't believe. There is no play and its still extremely smooth.
It even has a decocker!!!

Made by the same guy with the same quality that later build this gun:

because as the thread show, if it ain't shilled to death by hundreds of "tactical" brands and shit then nobody will buy it because "it doesn't make sense" or whatever other non sense they'll made up as an excuse.

this is valid for any other weapons btw even bolt action rifles, nobody is going to make something weird and unique because it's too risky and will instead follow the current trend in the already existing market, only those rich enough will shill their shit to death until it sell (see 6.5 creedmoor)
>>
>>64756429
its not.

30 carbine is much cheaper to manufacture in long term, large scale operations.
>>
>>64756458
I don't see it being a risk, I think AR pistols firing 30 carbine would sell like hot cakes.

Lighter, shorter overall length, less wasted money on unused gunpowder (or specialty fast-burn rounds). If you wanted to hype-up the tactical applications, just give it a threaded barrel and let a few of those cosplaying guntubers test/review it and have Magpul design some magazines for it. But really, a bone-stock AR pistol firing 30 carbine would be great for home defense or keeping the peace. It's not like the King of Kenosha had to engage with armored enemies or people even 100 yards away or through some long distance scope, most civilian engagements are well under 150 yards.

The 16" rifle would be great too, one of the .223/5.56's requirements was that it would have comparable wounding ability to the M1 Carbine. Just seems kinda weird to me that the quintessential "civilian carbine" doesn't even have a variant which fires the carbine round.
>>
>>64757165
>I think AR pistols firing 30 carbine would sell like hot cakes.
well you are the only one that thinks that.
theres no demand for 30 carbine nobody wants it unless they are trying to feed an m1. other 30 carbine guns have existed and all were unsuccessful. nobody will buy it just cause its 30 carbine.

I can’t believe it took a 30 minute video to say what we already knew, which is that 10mm Auto is the superior automatic handgun cartridge, and that only after having to water it and then .40 S&W down for the women, manlets, and fags in the FBI did they just settle on 9mm because there was no difference at that point. Amazing.
>But muh fire rate!
Literally doesn’t matter in a combat scenario, doubly so if your shots don’t actually land. Paul Harrell already established this in his 1986 Miami Dade shootout analysis.

Lift weights and carry 10mm, anons.

Yes, and "something stable" is typically a big stone slab.

>>64750473
Yeah, that's the trick. A machinist's surface plate does the job just as well as a "balance table" yet it's much cheaper. I've fabricated many balance tables for my old job. I would weld the stand and the legs from 4" square steel tubing, which would be filled with sand afterward. The tabletop would be a 24"x36"x6" surface plate. It doesn't need to be a high grade one either, it just needs to be heavy.
