It's almost time for $0 tax stamps. You can finally, legally, have fun. Buy a $400 P1S from Bambu, some Pa6-cf filament from polymaker, and get to work.

Some 3dp2a guys released the FTN 5.0 suppressors recently. There are suppressors for pistols, pcc's, and rifles. Let's talk about the last one.

To start out you will need ONE of these muzzle devices:
>Breek threaded muzzle+ Castle Shield <-Best one
>KAK slimline micro flash can
>1/2x28 to 3/4x16 thread adapter

Now you can print an insert that will attach the suppressor body to the muzzle device. The breek insert is a clamshell design. Put the two halves onto the castle shield and screw on the suppressor assembly. The other two will need some epoxy.

IF you want the suppressor to be permanent, epoxy the threads of the insert and suppressor body. It'll help with the longevity and make a better gas seal.

The main body will NEED to be supported by a sleeve. You can print the sleeve, but the lifespan is shorter with a lot of restrictions. You can use a 56mm ID and 60mm OD aluminum OR carbon fiber tube with jb weld. You can also use fiberglass and resin wrapped around the tube, but this is less effective.

You do remeber that the ATF fixed efile during the Biden years, right?
>>
>>64699208
i thought it was because that since SOTs have to pay a tax to manufacture suppressors for commercial sale that the tax stamp is still somehow valid
or at least thats how i read it when the DOJ response was posted a month or 2 ago striking down the lawsuit
>>
>>64699528
It'll get struck down. The courts can't say something illegal will happen and prevent it. They need to wait until it's happened and an infringement has occurred in their eyes. The registry doesn't became a registry for the sake of it until they stop collecting taxes in about twelve hours
>>
>>64699507
"fixed" seems to be a relative term when dealing with the ATF.

>>64699113
I don't even know where my HS GPA scores are; I still can't believe I didn't bother asking anyone what the fuck they even meant by taking classes for "points", it just made them sound retarded and not even worthy of entertaining their apparent bullshit. I guess that's what happens when you go to terrible schools, and it doesn't even matter if you go to good schools afterwards, because then the administration won't even realize what you haven't been taught already. It's no wonder why almost literally all of the teachers at my middle school got fired after I graduated from it, it was just bad enough by then to warrant a purge when they got a new principal.
>>
>>64697921
Your GT should be good for any job.
Enlisting with the intent to commission is retarded since it takes a lot longer and getting into OCS isn't guaranteed in all cases but if you don't already have a degree or some college your school will at least be paid for.
You should research jobs before just signing whatever your recruiter gives you because your MOS will determine your overall quality of life and available time to pursue educational goals.

22LR probably won't work worth a shit. It has very fast powder that will burn completely out in a a short barrel so even if the flash was colored you'd never see it because it would be hidden within the barrel. You need to do this with a powder and barrel length combination that results in a lot of unburnt powder. Something like a .45-70 out of a revolver would be ideal.
>>
>>64699198
I have a 16" revolver, TX22, and a 22" rifle.
I can also try it with my mosin, but that will alert the neighbors
>>
>>64698900
My sole concern is that it would alter (perhaps considerably) the behavior of the propellant.
Also, randomly adding even inert materials to the propellant charge will cause significant changes in chamber pressure.

-So-
With that bullshit out of the way, if you took into account the potential added mass and adjusted accordingly, it might be interesting. I'm wondering though how much of the material you'd need to add to reliably produce the desired effect though.
-Corrosion-
Probably no worse than black powder. Boiling hot water is the solution to pollution.
>>64699198
I have a chrome lined barrel in one of my 1911's. And a few pounds of FFFg black powder for extra smoky goodness (and because many modern propellants use flash suppressants).

I might try this.
>>
>>64699330
>you'd need to add to reliably produce the desired effect though.
Very little. I did a science fair project about those chemicals which color flames back in grade school. A tiny speck of the relevant chemical stuck on a wire and inserted into the flame of a bunsen burner or propane torch would color the whole flame for a couple seconds. A couple grains (weight) ought to be plenty.
A handgun length barrel would be ideal for experimenting with this, pick a load that has some unburnt powder.

>smoke
making colored *smoke* is a totally different thing than coloring the *flame*. smoke bomb contents might work if you wanted to color smoke?
>>
what if you packed one of these blast redirectors with the stuff and shot a fireball round out of a short barrel? probably minimal damage to the barrel.

What's the minimum standard to train to if you are going to carry? I am not talking SOF, I am not talking some mercenary company standards.

Just something that a person can't do after 50 rounds, but 100% of people can do after 3-6 months. Think 2 plate bench / 3 plate deadlift.

I am guessing it's 2 rounds on target from rest or holster in x time. What's that x?

What's the best way to train for it?

>I am guessing it's 2 rounds on target from rest or holster in x time.
That alone is pretty much meaningless because it's not under stress or in a realistic situation.

Try this. I guarantee you will embarrass the shit out of yourself if you haven't already done this or similar before:
Set up a target at 25 feet and start a random timer. When the timer goes off walk towards the target while you fire. No rapid fire, just slow shots. The only rule is you cannot stop walking, you must continually walk (not run!) towards the target while you shoot.
Contrats, you just learned how much you actually suck no matter how fast you can draw and put 2 rounds on target statically.
>>
>>64699400
>holster drills are STUPID you should practice moving while shooting instead!

draw-to-shoot time is literally all that matters for self defense.
>>
>>64697471
>What's the minimum standard to train to if you are going to carry?
The hard reality is that from the comments below, you seem to desire raising your proficiency. That is fun and fulfilling but not necessary for people who are going to carry. The overwhelming majority of confrontations happen at knife distances, which is why the only necessary training people need is safe handling of the weapon to avoid negligent discharge training. After that you can get all the training you want (but don't need) as a civilian.

if the generals had any kith and kin, they would not be entrenched in this building. But the generals have no children, I am positive, for whoever kills somebody else’s children has no children!
Whoever aggrieves somebody else’s mother has no mother! Whoever destroys somebody else’s home has no home!
And the generals must know that there are no mothers, no children, no homes for them in this land!
They will die in the wilderness of their own dead heart! Their children will be ashamed of having such fathers!
Their wives will be ashamed of them because they murdered other people’s children! Their families will be ashamed of them because they destroyed other people’s families!
Finally, you, the mothers and women who have assembled at this unique rally the like of which has never been held in Europe before, have demonstrated that deep in her heart Croatia, her educated and the uneducated men and women, is imbued with the sublime principle of love and dignity! And that is why I started out by telling you that I loved you, that I would rather die with you than live with the generals. And I know, I am quite certain that even once I am gone I will live in this love and with this love, in this dignity and with this dignity – and that is my joy and my strength, and the strength of all of you!
Let this love, this strength, this courage guide Croatia, whether armed or unarmed, because even unarmed we are no less brave, no less proud, no less in love with our homeland! If we have no weapons, we have the strength of what brought us here, the strength of our love, the strength of our dignity, the strength of our readiness to die if we cannot live like human beings. And that is something we are not prepared to relinquish. That is why I am not afraid! Croatia lives and will continue to live!

Checked, but man, Parsons was a weird guy.

Dude was super into occult shit and got really into the stuff Crowley (yes, that one) was doing at the time, to the point of being 2nd in the American 'temple' he was running for a while. He had a ranch out in California where he and kids of his occult friends would run around looking for fairies. And while it is believable that someone with his life was a prime target for assassination, it is just as likely that a guy with Parson's attitude toward safety did legitimately die in a 'freak home-lab rocket fuel explosion' Zoolander style.

I think his extreme openness to odd, unconventional, and sometimes unsavory ideas may have helped his career and research. I think there is something like that to be said for a lot of the random priests in the 16-21st centuries discovering and inventing things too. If your world view allows that, fundamentally, there are things we don't know and can't know without doing something to find out, it probably encourages discovery. I wonder if some of the slowdown in the pace of scientific breakthroughs can be blamed on so many practitioners of the 'scientific method' fundamentally believing that we basically understand the universe and there is nothing new to be found besides making semi-conductors 1% more efficient over the next 10 years.

https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/the-atfs-definition-of-an-ar-15-lower-as-a-firearm-is-in-serious-trouble/
Federal statute defines a receiver or frame as the part of the firearm that holds the bolt, breech, and firing mechanism and is usually threaded at the front to receive a barrel. ATF cut a deal because under the statute basically every firearm that has an upper and lower receiver and nearly every autoloading pistol could be sold as it's constituent parts without being subject to regulation.

so mines are legal for home defense as long as the home is occupied?
2 replies omitted. Click here to view.
>>
>>64698576
If they are all registered destructive devices, and are triggered manually by the owner, an argument could be made that they are not boobytraps (this is where the issue of legality stems, at least in the US. The devices can be owned legally, but it is always illegal to set a trap for humans). A claymore style device that is manually detonated would not be a boobytrap, but it would need to be a registered DD. Mines like the ones pictured would be illegal, since they are activated by the target, rather than manually by the owner.
>>
>>64698662
It is not a trap if it is command initiated. It is a trap if it is victim initiated.

If a device requires simultaneous command and victim initiation, is it a trap?

If both methods can be offset by half a second, is is a trap?

Etc.

I think there's legal room for innovation here.
>>
>>64698677
I think the best legal way to do it would be to have the mine linked to an alarm that is target initiated, could be a silent alarm that just lights up an indicator for the operator, who can then initiate the device. This would be legal, provided other criteria for use of deadly force were met (in this case, I will assume the user lives in Texas, so anyone on the property without permission after sunset).
>>
>>64698662
so if they step on it, and that triggers a cell phone to ring, and you can
