>>65045050In the future, first fast drones with small munitions will hit the tanks on top, destroying the less-defended RCWS that is capable of downing slower drones with tank-killing munitions. Then either the crew can come out and try to gun down the slower drones themselves, or have their tanks taken out by them

So basically these are the machine guns of WWI but for our generation?
>>65041727I think machine guns actually killed more people overall over the course of the conflict but only in situations where one side or the other tried to break through the trenches with a meat wave. On a typical day of cowering in your hole you were much more likely to die from a mortar round

trying to find a picture posted years ago. it showed two fully loaded sturdy safes side by side in someone's basement. also safe thread
Why would I put my guns in a safe?So I can die if there's a break in?
for those familiar with Australian safe requirements, is it worth getting a 150kg safe so I don't have to bolt it down? or should I just get a shit quality Bunnings safe and bolt it to my house? I don't really want to fuck up the carpet with a safe desu
>>65050579>safesWhat are you trying to do? If it's to have some light protection from fire, fill a local regulatory compliance checkbox, or you need to protect from little hands but don't have a dedicated room/closet available, then absolutely, get whatever isn't very expensive. If it's to actually secure valuable funs though then don't get anything that isn't an actual for real UL rated true safe. "Gun safes" are basically 100% scams that are worse than worthless. And it's critical to get the bastards installed correctly (which you can do yourself but you can't just leave it sitting there) or they lose a lot of their protection. Pay attention to what your insurance company says.
>>65050610generally agree. sturdy are about as legit as you can get before UL rated though. 4g body with 3/8" doors. won't stop a plasma torch but still pretty good. also this new captca is unuseable
I'd recommend getting a smaller gun safe and just getting another small safe as your gun collection grows.A big ass gun vault is a pain in the ass to move in and find a suitable spot in the house and of course any gun you want to get out, is _guaranteed_ to be all the way in the back, forcing you to remove a dozen other guns to get at it.
Behold, the worst tank ever made by man
>>65035213To be fair, the 115mm unitary was a good round that was just underdeveloped because the Soviets figured out APFSDS for the 100mm, the T-62 didn't get a ton of sales because it was dramatically more expensive than a T-55 and the T-72 and the 125mm came along quickly enough while not being that much more expensive than a T-62 with more upgrade potential. So R&D focused on 100mm and 125mm ammo.
>>65024145the majority of tank attrition back then was mechanical failure.
>>65040559it could be a side armor penetration ?
>>65044984it's just the camera angle, t-72 isn't that small, IIRC iraqi domestic built is a bit more spacious

For literally fucking YEARS I've been saying, soldiers should be issued a 5 meter collapsible steel poles to ward off drones. These poles would have a fishing net on the end, and be able to catch the drone and obscure its vision. Certainly not an effective weapon, but a weapon-of-last-resort that could save lives.I thought of the idea when I saw an APC with 20 men sitting on it get ambushed by an anti-personnel drone. I thought, if every man sitting on that APC had a long pole with a net on the end, that drone couldn't have even come close.Additionally, what makes drones so strong is that they can see everything from above. But these poles and nets, could be deployed like "tents". With thousands of soldiers, you effectively establish massive fields of tents where people can hide and the drones cannot see them. This creates a very uncertain battlefield for the drones and greatly improves survival odds. These tents could be used as decoys too, in the case of a pursuit. In the case of thermal vision, the poles could even have batteries in the rod, which click, and run a current and thermally obscures the drone's vision. And after literally years of making this rather-obvious suggestion, some soldiers on the battlefield are finally taking my advice. Webm related. Except their version is super shitty and ramshackle. The generals and the leaders are still totally out to lunch.

Any military vets here? I just discharged last year after 8 years in the US Army. I spent 3 years in infantry (11B) stationed in a really rainy German town and got deployed to a country full of commieblocks before I applied for the Special Forces and managed not to washout of SFAS and after 2 and a half years or so I spent the rest of my time in Army as an 18B in SF. Since I did the full 8 years active I'm not IRR and pretty much a full on civilian now. I have no idea what I want to do. Since getting out, a case worker at my local GI forum got me this job doing basic maintenance on folding machines for a laundry business, and honestly it kinda sucked, so I got a different job now working in a really cold warehouse for an online grocery store. I have little to no prior work experience outside of the military. From my service I do have experience in some building/construction, mainly basic shit like excavation and laying concrete and I've installed basic electrical wiring but I don't have any certifications in that type of stuff. I'm also bilingual, fluent in spanish and ayacucho quechua (lol) but even with all that my case worker can't get me a job that pays more than $16 an hour like shit man come on. I'm having to live back at home with my dad and my mentally ill sister. I was going to take advantage of the GI bill and go to school but I have no fucking idea what I want to study as a career. I don't want to get a bullshit degree and reenlist and go the officer route (there's a lot of bs involved) and tbqh I don't feel like going back to the military in any degree. I have no interests other than my hobbies and no aspirations of what I want to do. I tried looking into PMCs/PSCs and I found this website called Silent Professionals which seems kinda fishy desu. Idk man. Anybody in a similar position?
I'm not super religious (went with Dad and sister cause Easter) but this dopefiend just approached me outside church in the parking lot and said he had a samurai sword for $45 and I talked him down to $25.I thought it was just decorative but it's pretty sharp desu. What is God trying to tell me? Could this be about me deciding a weaboo future?
