I heard federal hst 147grain is the best self-defense 9mm ammo.
>>
>>61963450
Maybe not for shorter barrels. 147 gr may not get enough velocity out of a 3.3 inch barrel. Depends on gun and rifling too.

>Heard p+ was unnecessary in fullsize.
It depends on the bullet, like I said, from the gel tests I've seen I believe the 124 +p HST is the best 9mm on the market currently.
+p of other loads may not be, for example in HST 147 gr, from the results I've seen the standard pressure does better than the 147 +p
Another example, 9mm gold dots perfom pretty well, gold dots on nearly every other loading perform like shit.

I'm having a hard time deciding on grip texture. I plan to resin print then, so there's a lot of potential for detail. I was considering a relief pattern of fried chicken drumsticks and watermelon slices, but I am struggling to find a watermelon model with the level of detail needed to make a nice relief. I was also thinking of crack pipes and dollar signs.

erm anon? Uhh i dont know how to put this... but one of the slides is rmr cut. That mean theyre different,,,

3 PX4 compacts
One stainless model is optic cut
One stainless model is iron sights but the barrel or slide is fucked up and shoots to the left a few inches, requires significant drifting of the rear sight which makes my draw require final adjustment which I don’t like
The other slide is iron sights but is a super rare NP3 finish LTT compact carry, this is the second one I’ve ever seen on the market, which I bought.

Other one is a full-size stainless .40 S&W I bought the new G-SD barrel for to convert it to 9mm with the extra thick bull barrel.

Good choice. AIWB and an open emitter is playing with death, you have to choose between satisfying your hunger and eating Costco raisin oatmeal cookies or having a functional sighting system for your firearm.

>>61963892
He said for a range toy. You can just wipe it off. I have had multiple Acros of both gens, MPS, EPS, there's no advantage whatsoever to closed emitters unless you constantly shoot in the rain. They aren't more durable on average because of gasket issues. Why am I even bothering to write this?
>>61963790
Correct
>>
>>61964000
Yeah on a range toy it doesn’t matter, maybe on a carry gun it matter since the lint, and literally cookie crumbs (it happened twice) is annoying
>>
>>61964010
Can you clarify a little here? hhhhhWAT happened twice? You were forced to draw your gun
only to find your dot occluded by cookie crumbs
that had made your way down your torso under your shirt in a large enough quantity to collect in a little pile?

>>61964037
I do not understand why the Beretta 92GTS exists. I get it, they made the 92Xi SAO that people said “why, make it DA/SA with a decocker”, so they did. But now they have a gun that serves no purpose vs the 92X RDO G model (decocker only).

The GTS twin sear decocker will make the disassembly more complicated and hurt holster compatibility vs the 92X RDO G model. The 92 is a good choice, the DA/SA trigger while more difficult to master gives you the ability to train both DA and SA trigger pulls, if you can shoot a DA/SA good you can shoot anything.

Get the 92X RDO G model. Same thing but with better looking slide serrations and the classic slide mounted decocking lever.

Thanks, I appreciate your advice. It looks like the 92X RDO is only sold with the slide mounted safety, and would require a decocker conversion kit to be purchased as well, bringing the price to within ~$35; would it still be worth going that route with that in mind? Would something like that require specialized tools?
>>
>>61964259
Is this the guy that made the Halo battle rifle?
>>
>>61964284
Unless you mean 2011s, not really. Extreme durability, holster compatibility, and parts/mag availability are all you need to shoot a gun a ton without worrying about it, and the best gun is one you can shoot a ton because that'll be the primary determinant of performance.
There are arguably noninferior guns like the P10, PPQ, and Echelon, but there isn't anything at the price point that's better per se.
>>
>>61964292

No, there should be G model 92X RDOs. It’s a different sku. The conversion isn’t THAT hard but it’s something you should do in a jumbo ziplock bag since small springs and plungers go flying.

According to gun deals, there is a shop selling a new one for a bonkers low price of 550. Seems to be a real gun store, real address, their FFL license is real, but that doesn’t mean this isn’t a website posing as a real gun store.

https://www.mymollysfirearms.com/products/handguns-beretta-j92fr921g70-082442925981-6085
https://gun.deals/search/apachesolr_search/j92fr921g70

I would do my due diligence and check if that place is real before ordering. There is one on gunbroker for 650 but it’s an older demo model, from 2021, new old stock.

Where the fuck did all the beretta’s go? Do they really sell that much? Or did they divert all their manufacturing to models no one asked for.

>special tool
If you consider a roll pin punch to be a specialized tool, no. (They aren’t special tools, tons of guns need roll pins)

The F safety model might be better for you as a beginner, the safety isn’t that bad, just pointless once you’re confident in the safety a DA/SA gives you in that long trigger pull.

4 compacts (three of them stainless, 4th has just been turned into a parts gun, I want to have one RDO compact and one irons sights for carry)
1 .40 stainless full-size
1 LTT full-size RDO with all the bells and whistles until months later making a new model that made this one obsolete
1 G-SD bull barrel 9mm model that I bought just to convert the .40 stainless to 9mm with the heavy duty recoil reducing bull barrel
1 .45 ACP full-size

I don’t think it’s that weird. I like it. People buy a billion Glocks. If I like Glocks I would have nearly every model. I look at Glock 30 listings all the time, I want to get one or the G29 optic cut for the RMR.

RMR HD, while expensive, is the pinnacle of dots right now. Other than being open emitter it's auto brightness system is the best on the market by a long shot. The trigger is unequivocally worse and the Marksman barrel being better is, from what I can tell, completely made up and not the real reason for their introduction:
https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0379073818306893

>Barrel (GMB) create sufficient individualized marks on bullets and cartridge casings to enable
assigning projectiles and cartridge casings with high evidentiary value to a specific firearm.

>The marks on the bullets decrease in quality with the number of shots and new marks are formed
due to the wear of the barrel. However, an assignment of a projectile to a specific firearm is still possible even after firing 500 cartridges.
>Finally, all cartridge casings show a systemic characteristic which makes it possible to assign a
cartridge casing to a Glock Gen5 pistol.

If you can find a ransom rest test that shows it's more accurate, I'd be curious to see it though

First off, all Glock models have somewhat inconsistent trigger pulls from gun to gun, but I've formed this opinion on the basis of many, many Glock triggers. Although the Gen 5 is slightly lighter on average, there's substantially more variability in amount of creep they have, and virtually all of them have more creep than the average Gen 3 trigger, which, despite being heavy, tends to have a crisp break. The one advantage of Gen 4 and 5 triggers in my experience is that they do tend to be easier to improve with aftermarket parts, whereas modifying a Gen 3 trigger to make it lighter often eliminates the crisp break almost immediately. I have felt some 8/10 Gen 5s, one or two 7-8/10 Gen 4s, and no Gen 2-3 triggers I would rate above an 8, but I've never found a Gen 2 or 3 below a 6, whereas that's how I'd rate most Gen 4's and about half of Gen 5's. Ranting but there you go.
>>
>>61965160
That's a 10 point Glock scale to be clear, which caps out at 5 or 6 on an objective pistol trigger scale.
>>
Glocks don't have my favorite trigger but to be honest I've never had an issue with them aside from this one Glock I handled at a gun store which, even though it was the floor model so it had to have been fingerfucked thousands of times, somehow felt 15 pounds.

Gen 5 trigger is better than gen 3, and even more so if you get the performance trigger.
The gen 5 barrels are about the best glock barrelsnon the market, even countries 3rd party.

The performance trigger is unreliable and trash and even bottom of the barrel (hehe) aftermarket barrels are superior in ransom rest testing. Went with my range bud to pick it up and put about 200 rounds through the DWX compact. Honestly one of the nicest 9mm pistols I've ever shot. Incredibly light slide, exceptional ergos, and a trigger that rivals my specialist. Uses CZ mags and grips, what's not to love.

Only two criticisms: the front sight is loose. Noticed after two mags or so. Not going to fault the manufacturer here, it happens, the test target looks good, but they're gonna have to make it right. Other criticism is that the safety is very light to engage. I didn't have issues, but my range buddy is more used to Glocks and something about their grip made them keep accidentally engaging the safety. After they adjusted their grip it stopped happening.

That’s precisely who you should fault. It’s like a 2,000 dollar gun and whoever installed the front sight had to have known it was loose as fuck and said “fuck it” and then the QA guy also felt that it wasn’t his problem either.

I like them, they make sense for a carry gun. Personally I prefer normal 25LPI checkering, but it definitely pills and wears clothing in a way this does not. I actually hate the PX4 so much, it's such a fucking piece of shit to work on. The top pin for the hammer is a bitch to get out, you just jam a flathead in there and try to pry it to get it to pop out. But of course you need to trim away the grip tape that you put there, because the grip texture is the worst slippery dogshit imagineable. Getting it back together is another fucking story. There are 2 springs that reset the trigger bar instead of one. The second spring is some retarded shape and if it's not perfectly demented your trigger will not reset in DA. You have to pry this spring out of the way to get that previously mentioned spring out btw. Pushing the trigger pack back in, you'll probably find that the spring doesn't want to seat properly in the fucking channel. This presents a problem because that means it won't go down all the way while you're fighting the trigger bar to stay in the proper place. Overall I'd rather work on literally any other gun with my hands coated in grease than this piece of shit. The 8 hours I spent on my Apollo was at least worth it. I dread having to replace the hammer spring when the new one arrives. I have to get a 92 spring and cut it down to size, because LTT only sells 11 and 10lb springs which cause light primer strikes.

The only reason why I'm going to carry this train wreck design of a pistol, is because it takes the hammer and sear from the 92 which makes the trigger better than a P30sk (if it doesn't jam when I take it to the range). That should feel really brutal to a kochsucker too, because I really fucking hate this slippery plastic handled chink ratchet. Don't fall for the hype, it's super gay and super retarded, but it's sadly your best DASA option at that size. Anyways thanks for listening to my blog and honest review.

You’ve got some sweet guns, always loved HP’s so the new SA’s seem like a great reboot, never shot a CZ but Rami’s are hot, and I remember when the P99’s really were something new on the scene. Of course the most based of all is the L9-A2.

Is it a .40 issue bc I’ve seen G19 holsters specify G4/G5? I cut the right side slide nub off mine bc it did fuck with a holster.

Even if you get the flathead in the right blind spot the pin sometimes doesn't come out far enough to pick it out. It's a dogshit design made even worse by the fact that you're pushing a spring out of the way in a direction it's not meant to go. The only thing nice I have to say is the sear spring is easy to get in and out.

>>61967005
Langdon only selling light primer strike hammer springs of the correct length or 92 springs advertised as PX4 springs too except not really because you need to trim them down or it will be compressed and be way heavier.

This guy is peak basedsumer, and Johnny Glocks is cheapening the 2011 name by calling his trigger anywhere near remotely the same as a 2011 trigger. He even shows a 1911 trigger that has less pre travel and over travel by far. God I hate these faggy zoomers so much.

I’ll make a guide for it. I had trouble with it at first but I’m good at it now. I didn’t understand it until I played with the trigger pack practicing depressing that spring. For the pin, sometimes that happened to me, sometimes slapping the side of the gun is enough to pop that hammer pin out far enough to pry out once it’s free of its retaining spring.

>light primer strikes
S&B uses hard primers, you might want to use one of these instead.

It's going well, the outside is fully stripped I just need to get a brush and/or pick into the tight internal spaces to finish it up. I'm still not sold on what to do for the grip texture yet, but I do like the front and back straps I've designed for it.

All I need to do is stab the pin out of the way blindly and scrape the side so it's pushed out as much as possible. The spring length has no bearing on the weight. The reason why the 92 spring is heavier in the PX4 is because it's a longer spring that doesn't fit so it's already pre-compressed. Spring force is equal to the spring rate/weight/constant multiplied by the compression length. So that post is weird based on the claims it makes. A spring that's too long will work until it binds, a spring that's too short won't work until it starts being compressed. So if you wanted a PX4 spring that would work in a 92 (it looked like 2 less coils) you'd need a heavier spring than a 92 spring. The trigger feel would be loose until the spring started to engage, then it would more sharply hit the maximum force. It's unclear if he's saying the PX4 D is a different k and x. It's definitely a different x.

I think the trick with getting it back in is to start hitting it with a hammer. That got mine pressed all the way down each time. Hope the ejector still works.
>>
>>61968146
I just wear some gloves and press the trigger pack in from the top and put the hammer spring back in to hold it in place. Then putting in the other pin in is easy.

Why are you going gorilla mode on this
>>
>>61968234
The travel stops before it gets flush when pressing down. I hit the entire unit all over with a brass hammer to make sure something wasn't deformed outward, made no difference. Then I decided to just hit it downward on the ejector while pushing the hammer down and it worked.

This cerakote is gritty as hell against the plastic too, inox is definitely the way to go.
>>
>>61968266
Yeah very unimpressed with the beretta Cerakote they did, it’s fucking terrible. LTT’s Cerakote is much better, I don’t know what they’re doing in Italy. I still have 2-3 more weeks on my Jarvis refinishing according to their 4 week lead time

I don’t think that’s right. Mine just goes in.

>>
>>61968315
I'd say it will smooth out, but it's mostly running up against plastic, so that will take a while unless I try to polish it myself. But rails on slides are extremely hard to work on due to their geometry.
>>
>>61968384
MGW sells a metal shoe for their sight pusher that is mock slide rails for the PX4, if you put a light abrasive on that and just run the shoe back and forth maybe that’ll smooth it.

My conspiracy theory is that they're working toward discontinuing the 320 in favor of the 365 because the taxpayer-subsidized "it's the new Army gun, so it must be good" word of mouth isn't enough to balance the "don't those go off when you drop them?" and "why are there already so many police surplus P320s?" word of mouth.
