So they adapted a Pynchon novel for filmI've never read Pynchon before but like"One Battle After Another" - what the FUCK is this turbo jogger leftist power fanstasy bullshit?I always realized Hollywood is a bunch left-leaning cucks but holy fuck they outdid themselves with this one.The level of blatant propaganda is on par with fucking commie films of Stalin's era or something. This guy made "There will be blood" and now this what the fuck. This movie doesn't even feel real, it's a caricature of a movie.Tell me bros is Pynchon cringe plebbitor shit like that and not based? Le speaking truth to power
can direction brains explain what makes this so "left wing"? its usually nonsensical and coming from an uneducated american goycattle perspective, but i really cant understand what makes this leftist in the slightest. just a quick rundown, please.

Shit thought I stumbled my way to /tv/ for a second there. Guise it was a movie, with action and meant as entertainment. Was a bit long, even for a lad who gladly will sit through movies. Essentially both sides of your views of the political spectrum were skewed. The xmas nazis, silly, patient, and boring in their muscle cars. The political terrorists, who pulled off an amazing feat at the beginning, (and their story should have ended there), eventually imploded as revolutionary groups tend to do. The system is too much for these groups to grow, like pressure at the edge of a bubble. And when we see Leo become a father and care 0 about the world/their mission, you see he's ready to grow. Nobody else grows. Beverly Hills hangs with younger revolutionaries, ends in her downfall. Lockjaw keeps desiring his past/but cannot reconcile with what his future goals demand he give up. The daughter is parentified, if I may, and is the only 'grown up.' Until the end when Leo and her embrace. The Sensei also was immature, drinking and driving, even though, monthly he was doing what the French 75 did one night. So yes, a FOIL between the left and right, with the intention of realizing both sides are all 'failures' in the eyes of society and so must battle each other in their own battleground in the background. Thus immaturely electing to be on the outside and forever battling society to hold their own identity, hence the title. Fools rush in but they're the only ones with guts do anything at all.

How do you learn to philosophize? I read philosophy books but i never learn to philosophize. I never learn to use those fancy words like epistomoleogoogy; i only learn what they kinda mean but i never have a sure feeling of it and have to look it up all the time. Is philosophy only for high iq people? I feel utterly lost so much so i don't even bother to talk about it with other people.

>>24946724>human calculatorWhat do you "calculate" when proving that the union of any set of open sets is open? Or that every bounded sequence of reals has a convergent subsequence? Math is the interrogation of the properties of mathematical structures using reason, which is something you (hopefully) also use when studying philosophy >Mechanical descriptions are not philosophyIt is for most employed philosophers, but you are partially right. If you aren't really interested in logic or rigor you can safely ignore it, much like how the rest of the world can safely ignore you
>>24946724Socrates made a distinction between pure mathematics and applied mathematics, it is the oldest distinction of them I've come across, Socrates has a bit of disdain for the human calculator while the pure mathematics elevates the soul to truth and philosophy
>>24946020It depends upon what sort of "philosophy" as a practice you are seeking to emulate. For example, Analytic philosophy has the study of Logic precede everything else, and possibly even contain everything else.

Please add Consider the Lobster (Walley's best work)Vonnegut's doing well this year so far. I'd imagine he is helped quite a bit by the voting format. Not necessarily a common top 5 / top 10 favorite, but most people like him enough to check a box.

If, according to Gnosticism, the material world was created by an ignorant or malevolent Demiurge, why did the higher, benevolent source of reality allow such a being or such a world to come into existence? This idea seems to relocate the problem of evil to a meta-level rather than resolving it.

What's the one by Kipling about a settler/pioneer making his way into an undiscovered land? Thanks in advance, pic unrel
This is a post asking for general reading recommendations. If you read past that first line then lay any collections you like on me, please, because I'm new to poetry. I'm open to anything but if that's too nebulous then "The Graveyard By The Sea", "Ulalume", and "Song of the Bell" have all stuck with me recently.

Recently bought Chamber Music, Joyce's early book of poems. Am intrigued to read them; it's my next book on the docket.
It is not exactly well known in modern circles but much of Hemingways writing had fetishistic undertones for the sexual fetishes be possessed. It is well known that in most of his novels the main women has some sort of ratchet short haircut. Lady Brett Ashley,Maria and Catherine Barkley all had very intense details on the short hair they had. Further most of his wives had short hair and it was a subject of contention for His first wife Hadley Richardson and a mainstay with his second Pauline. Further the topic of women on male anal stimulation comes up in some of his works but more overt. The garden of Eden book truly is the embodiment of the Hemingway sexuality. Hemingwaybros how do you cope with the great man’s man writer liking women with boy haircuts and getting his buddy tickled. Personally I enjoy it.
>>24948644I hate women with short hair, but I like reading. What is something short but sweet from the old Earnest? Then which is his best novel?I have read Old man and the Sea.
>>24948659Farewell to Arms is his best novel. That said, Hemingway really shines most in his short stories. If you only read one thing by Hemingway, the Finca Vigia collection is the one to go with.
>>24944831If you can't disconnect author from his work and distinguish fiction from reality then you are genuinly low IQ. Or are you just brown? Do you also think Hemingway got shot in his dick during WW1 since Sun Also Rises is about that? Do you think Agatha Christie was serial killer since she wrote about murders?Do you have inner monologue? Can you imagine hypothetical situations?
i love hemmingway, short haired girls, and getting my ass eaten, but i do not believe hemmingway ever alludes to assplay in any of his works. he keeps it very vague and what is hinted at seems very vanilla.

What's a good book to start with Jung? I'm already familiar with psychoanalysis.I am mainly interested in dream analysis and archetypes, but I have researched and found that Man and His Symbols was not written by him personally, but by his assistants, and is actually a simple introduction.

Redpill me on Dr. William Pierce. Are his works worth reading?
>>24941203Hunter, was actually enjoyable as a B-grade paperback until the "preach" at the end. Viewed IN ITS TIME it was the first to do some things. PTSD among them. Its basically a modern serial killer novel before the modern tropes of such were hammered out. Hunter is *not* a manual for guerilla warfare, far from it. You don't learn how to make a silener though the MC makes on on a lathe. The concept of blowing up a building with explosive gas and a spark was novel enough in its time.
