Anyone else see Dick Van Dyke as Jason Taverner. Just finished this book. Still scratching my head at how KR 3 turned that girl into a skeleton.
>>
>>24950742
It really was weird to me. I guess she was turned into a skeleton because an immense amount of time was made to pass through her body when reality changed back, which really means her body was made to go through the same immense amount of time until, inevitably, it withered down to only a skeleton.

I use calibre. Reading anywhere but on a desktop computer is cause for distraction.
>>
>>24950783
I love to read in nature when it's sunny and in bed when it's winter. I used to read behind my desk using calibre as well but I notice I read way more now that I have an ereader because it's just more convenient. Also I never expected this but the epaper screens are genuinely adding a lot of value. The "print" quality is higher than actual paper books and it looks indistinguishable to paper. I can never go back to reading from a lcd monitor or oled phone screen.

Physical books are cumbersome to hold for extended periods of time and I usually read 4 - 5 books at the same time (one non fiction history, one non fiction about a specific field or interest, a fiction guilty pleasure book, some genre fiction and some genuine classic literature) I won't be carrying an entire backpack filled with books with me wherever I go.

What is yalls method for writting? I am only able to make actual contributions to my drafts when an overwhelming feeling of certainty arises, giving me great inspiration and the knowledge to put together my lesser drafts into proper pages

I've had a concept for like 2 years but no larger story to tie it into, then I randomly thought of another element that would make it a whole story one day, and I've combined those with older concepts that I've had in mind for some time and have drafted scenes and short stories around. I have a lot of scenes and storylines in my head I want to hit, so since I have a base my main process is kind of riffing off the parts I've set in play and building towards major scenes, a lot of improv mixed with following a very rough outline that I have in my head. In my edit or rewrite or whatever I plan on really streamlining everything

Just got caught up with this series, it's about feudal power armor knights doing battle with terminators and robot demi-gods where the main character kills a female robot so hard that she basically comes back as a female yandere robot that desperately needs to be impregnated by the main character.
>>
>>24948742
That sounds awesome. Did you write this?
>>
>>24950046
No, I just like cute robots with pale skin and huge titties that legit could probably birth human babies.
>>

>where the main character kills a female robot so hard that she basically comes back as a female yandere robot that desperately needs to be impregnated by the main character.
Awesome plot point, jealous I didn't make this.
>>
>>24950719
More specifically, she was this persistent robot spider thing that he eventually kills and she's so fucking mad that she basically angries herself in front of Robot god and asks for a new form to kill him with.
>>
>>24950785

Happy 100 threads anon. Post your favourite passage
Euron stood by the window, drinking from a silver cup. He wore the sable cloak he took from Blacktyde, his red leather eye patch, and nothing else.
>When I was a boy, I dreamt that I could fly," he announced. "When I woke, I couldn't . . . or so the maester said. But what if he lied?"
>"Perhaps we can fly. All of us. How will we ever know unless we leap from some tall tower?"
The wind came gusting through the window and stirred his sable cloak. There was something obscene and disturbing about his nakedness.
>"No man ever truly knows what he can do unless he dares to leap."

I'm hijacking this thread to vent with relevancy to this.

I fucking hate all humans except for myself and want them to die out. The only means of acting on this I have are the following:

Don't do anything for anyone except myself and my personal gain.

Invest in whatever brings me the most profit, which inevitably includes companies that exploit people, harm them through medication and implant side effects as well as addiction, build weapons that kill millions, cause financial crises and destroy the environment.

Drive a car that consumes a lot of gas and produces a lot of emissions to destroy the environment.

Fly as much as I can to destroy the environment.

Eat meat to destroy the environment.

It's literally already been TLDR'd. This is the literature board, people don't make posts imitating memes or short form content for your adhd brain. Of course the response to a long post is also going to be long.

>>24950695
That's not what happened at all you utter retard. It was falsely claimed that Tolkien got the idea of the ring from Plato, and then later claimed that he was at least partially influenced by Plato, when it has nothing to do with whether or not Wagner influenced him. One of the posters claiming it was incredibly arrogant and conceited despite being in the wrong so I responded to him and that's how the argument developed.
>>
>>24950691
The whole discussion started as a binary. One person claimed Tolkien was influenced by Wagner, another claimed in response that he got it from Plato. You're clearly too low iq to follow the chain of replies.
>>
>>24950730
Yeah, you're a retard and I don't care about your opinion. You talk like you don't believe in reality and you'd rather sell me on a narrative where you're always right.
Sorry, but that's a faggy way of interacting with the world, and I won't validate your cunty way of doing things by responding as if your words are worth anything. You actually are beneath my contempt. Literally. I don't care what you have to say, you're a mongoloid, and you're opinion is worthless. Fuck off and shut up. How about that?

No, and with this attitude, you're not going to dig yourself out of your hole.Your life is in a downward spiral because of structural brain issues. It's a malady of modern times, called "neural net model collapse". Rediscovered with the advent of generative AI, researchers realized that AI models trained on AI-generated output experienced model collapse. Devoid of the outliers and long tails of real-world data, the model's parameters clipped to zero or one, rendering it all useless. A similar phenomenon happens in human neural-networks if they're trained on human-made and other artificial data, instead of natural data. The pathetic shutin stunts his development with anime, vidya, pr0n, virtual human contact, and the confines of his little room, stunting his neural development beyond all repair. The inevitable result is all too common—seething, sexual perversion, and increasing suicidal ideation. If there is any cure, it involves going outside, getting away from the city, and experiencing nature in all its complexity. But that assumes it's not too late.

I would always prefer a respected philosopher's description of such a turnaround, but I can't think of any examples.

In his 'Lectures on the Mind for Young Samurai', Mishima reflects on being called a nerd for his love of literature during the war.

He argues that today's nerds use literature as a safety zone to hide from the real world.

He distinguishes between two types of literature.

The first, which he calls second-rate, is relatively harmless; it acts as a comforting teacher, offering simple moral lessons and inspiration to those who are struggling, giving hope to the heartbroken, teaching that money isn't everything to the poor, and comforting the weak.

The true danger, he warns, comes from "real" literature. This first-rate writing reveals the frightful fate of humanity and teaches through beautiful and captivating prose "that in this life an irredeemable evil lurks at the bottom of human nature", leading the reader to a nihilistic precipice and abandoning them there without solace.

The greatest problem arises when nerds who consume this powerful literature fall under the illusion that they arrived at its profound conclusions through their own effort.

This creates a false sense of superiority, leading them to become cynics who mock all human effort, sincerity, and passion from a detached and powerless position.

As a writer, Mishima knows this "poison of literature" intimately, and admits that he only found a partial antidote later in life through physical action.
