Do e-readers remove the SOVL from books? Does the ease of access ruin the mystique of treasure hunting for books and finding obscure titles?

But you still have a million other books right there at your fingertips.
>>
>>24767052
if you are destitute like me you cant afford to treasure hunt so its fine to have one. if i really enjoy the book i buy it physical later on for a collection.

>They might have a point even though they can’t articulate it
Yeah dude, I should totally rather ignore all the tangible arguments in favor of e-books people with brains make, than the few materially obsessed tards who can barely articulate an English sentence.
>>
>>24783918
Yes but you're only realistically reading a few books at a time and if none of those can hold your attention even slightly maybe you shouldn't be reading at that moment.
>>
>>24767052
I don't use an e-reader specifically, but I do use my phone. I'd prefer a tablet, but I make do with this phone. Does this remove the "S0VL" or the 'mystique'? For me, it's almost the complete opposite. Having access to any assortment of weird epubs online feels more liberating because I can try all the weird stuff I'd struggle to track down copies of, or have to pay a lot on shipping for otherwise. I don't have to worry about damaging my books. I don't have to worry about my poor vision being any issue, as I can resize and change the fonts to fit my needs.

Mind you, I'm not reading top-100 shit, but actively scouring filters for novels in foreign tongues that I'm into. On that note, tap-to-dictionary functionality is a godsend for improving my literacy. I've picked up cool-looking books in the past, but the texts would often be too hard to read unassisted, and the text sometimes too small for my impaired vision, that I just gave up early on. I feel free to tackle even hard reads now because I can know I am not alone without the tools do so, and that capability makes the treasure hunt real to me.

I read some of the "anti-racist" biographies at the public library, and the level of hatred these brown women have towards white girls is insane. There was one with a black girl at some anti-racist seminar just demeaning and making fun of this white woman doing her best to apologize for her implicit biases and privilege.

With all these books about race being published everywhere, all these experiences as a diaspora. When is the actual unspoken truth going to get published? the burning resentment and hatred that non-white women have towards white women? Or is that too much for the publishing industry?

Same here. I love our women, I love our people. Only a white woman can have a white child, and we're humanity's finest. They wouldn't be trying to deny us an identity if they didn't want to be a part of us.

I happen to like white girls. Why do you think I took so much offense to the contents of these books? Most white girls I meet try to take the general feeling of all people into account in the environments they're in. I did charity work for DOC, it was only white girls, and I mean -ONLY- white girls that cared for animals. Not a fucking single brown face there setting possum traps to save the native birds. I've seen hundreds of people at these charities and not a single brown face. I've never seen a brown girl care for an animal, I've never seen a brown man at an environmentalist preservation charity either. I'm a low empathy chud who gets dragged along by my family, but I know what I am and don't deny it.

Non-white girls could be pretty. But take a fucking look at how they treat animals in their third world shitholes. How they whip and beat donkeys all across north africa. Imagine having a child with one and that child inheriting that mentality. Our people are the only ones that care and love about nature and the world. A brown girl could be pretty, but she'd still torture a dog to death if it gave her some advantage.

I'm an apologetic white supremacist because I know my blood is the only blood capable of love. And yes I'm violent psycho myself, but I see what I see in my own people, and love my people for it. Even if they have too much empathy and idealism to be assertive and wish to preserve the most beautiful and caring race that ever existed, I will.
>>
>>24784221
>I happen to like white girls.
You say this as if it was something rare, when pinkos by a wide margin are only interested in other pinkos
>it was only white girls, and I mean -ONLY- white girls that cared for animals.
How many of it is done as a way to gain good boy points though
>How they whip and beat donkeys all across north africa.
True, but you have to admit white pepo can love animals way too much, the whole furbaby stuff for example. I remember I read some ancient guy talking about the romans if I'm remembering correctly, and how their women would not have children and instead would raise and pamper monkeys and other animals as their offspring. Sounds familiar?
>>
>>24784276
No actually, I don't think they do it just to their advantage. I think the only reason you've gotten away with slandering them as Karens for so long is because they're genuinely nice people, who take the shit you say at face value. It's a way for you people to virtue signal too, go along and care for animals. If you can, that turkroach Hasan Piker couldn't even resist shock collaring and abusing his dog on stream, I doubt you'd last a week before breaking the wings of a small bird. The single claw of a dog is worth the life of 1,000 people who would abuse animals. The English in particular take great offense to animal abuse.

You don't think I'm close to non-whites too? We live in demographic replacement countries after all, and we're forced into the same environments. Do you really think a brown girl hasn't vented to me about how Steve Jobs and Bill Gates didn't actually come from poor families and had nepotism? Dumping all this information on me in a longpost, whining about how social mobility is a myth? You think white people don't see Indians worship tech billionaires like gods? You think I haven't said "don't people in your country get married younger?" (based on a statistical fact) and the person in question just dismissively going "Oh that's just for poor people". Never heard a white person shrug off and say that's for the poors. I might online, but even I wouldn't IRL.

You want to prove me wrong? Work to take these anti-white books off the library bookshelves, speak up about how white people don't deserve this treatment.

>tfw you realize Hume and Kant as much as Nietzsche, Rawls as much as Nozick, are all basically part of a dogmatic faith tradition that sustains itself through indoctrination and the marginalization of all objectors, and has spread itself across the globe through coercion and violence.
>tfw radical politics cannot break free of this path because it cannot itself question the core dogmas of the new faith
>tfw the dogmas and faith of everyone around you are completely transparent to them, in much the way a fish might not notice water or think much about what lies beyond its boundaries. Particularly, because the dogmas dress themselves up in the clothes of epistemic humility and skepticism, their absolutizing nature has become invisible.

Very true.
>Skepticism means we ought not affirm universals. Therefore my nominalism wins by default.

>Skepticism means we cannot know the Good. Therefore my liberalism wins and is "good" by default. Everyone must pay into and abide by this system, which we have justified through an appeal to our own ignorance.

>Skepticism means we cannot know being. Therefore my empiricist phenomenal materialism wins be default.

>Skepticism means we cannot know man's essence or things divine. Therefore my voluntarism and exclusive humanism must be the default for all people except in "private" spaces.

>I am skeptical of rational desires, noesis, ecstasis, etc. Therefore we must just assume my instrumental and wholly discursive notion of rationality.

>We must be skeptical about truth. Therefore my deflationism is true. We will be "pragmatic."

"Pragmatism" is normally the catch all solution to skepticism, but it should be obvious that either things are truly "useful" and knowable as such or they aren't. If they aren't, than an appeal to "pragmatism" and "usefulness" is just an appeal to appearances, whatever we currently desire and feel is useful. But this is just a more convoluted path to Thrasymachus, Protagoras, and Gorgias, affirmed over and against Socrates and Plato, by dint of a mere appeal to ignorance.

100% agree. What is interesting is that Dante's purification and return to the "Earthly Paradise" of Eden is very much framed as a return to nature, not a supernatural transformation (that only comes in the Paradiso). To be natural IS to be oriented rightly towards God.

Dante is in agreement with all the Patristics here. Pic related is a great collection of Patristic thoughts on this subject and their core idea is of course that it is the Fall that is unnatural. The idea of a pure nature is incoherent as it is God "in whom we live and move and have our being," (Acts 17:28). Likewise, the celebration of the body and the Transfiguration militates against such a separation. For Dante, souls must be purged of lust, gluttony, etc. on Mt. Purgatory precisely because the bodily, natural appetites are essential to the diefied man. All of nature is sacramental.

The abuse of Saint Thomas and the rise of the nature/super nature distinction shows that the Reformation wounded the Roman Church quite badly, pushing it into the very corrupting heresies it originally sought to push back on.

As pointed out, not every modern accepts all of these. I think the more fundamental divide is simply this, that modern thought does not accept any robust form of intellectus/noesis. It also does not accept that contemplative knowledge can be gained from "spiritual exercises" and the cultivation of virtue. Pretty much all prior thought, Eastern as much as Western, admits of this sort of knowledge. That might be why, despite being isolated by vast differences, they are in many respects all more similar to each other than modern thought. In modern thought, everything must be "public" and accessible to the "disinterested observer."

Hindu thought has jñāna and buddhi, Buddhists have prajna, Taoism has its own intuitive knowledge.

The main modern argument about these traditions disagreeing seems a bit weak though. They don't disagree more than modern thought does. Honestly, I think they disagree much less on what is truly important, such as ethics and the virtues. So, why then is contemplative knowledge written off?

It has to be question begging because sheer empirical sense data and discursive reason alone cannot justify the epistemic position that only these are valid and they virtually all past thought is simply delusion or fantasy.

Pic vaguely related, Orthodox monks agreeing with Taoism.

Do you think your life will be more pleasant with anyone but me? Think about it!—Ah! certainly not!—Only with me can you be free. And since I swear to you that I will be kind from now on, that I deplore all my share of wrongs, that my mind is at last clear, that I truly love you—if you refuse to return, or to let me come to you, you are committing a crime, and you will repent of it for many years to come, through the loss of all freedom and torments perhaps even more dreadful than any you have known. After that, think back to what you were before you met me.

As for me, I am not going back to my mother’s; I am going to Paris, and I will try to leave by Monday evening. You will have forced me to sell all your clothes—I can do no otherwise. They are not yet sold: they will only be taken away on Monday morning. If you wish to write to me in Paris, address your letters to L. Forain, 289 rue Saint-Jacques, for A. Rimbaud. He will know my address.

Certainly, if your wife returns, I will not compromise you by writing to you—I will never write again.

The only true word is this: come back. I want to be with you; I love you. If you listen to this, you will show courage and a sincere spirit. Otherwise, I pity you. But I love you, I embrace you, and we shall see each other again.

The giga Chad Xi stuff is a bit funny because his image in a lot of inward-facing Chinese propaganda doesn't fit the chad/virgin spectrum. He's not in shape, doesn't exercise, doesn't get angry or cuss out people in public. His image is more like a wise and steady uncle and many of his appearances is giving technical but basically obvious advice to normal people like farmers, engineers or cafeteria workers:

It is a classic in its own right; you have to read it to see it for its richness, that it could not have been made in modern times in the method of making a novel, even if inspired; it has to be from the ancient times it claims, even if compiled and redacted.

>What is /wng/ — Web Novel General?
A general for readers and authors involved or interested in the growing phenomenon of 'web novels', serialized English fiction posted to websites such as: Royal Road, Webnovel, Scribblehub, Wattpad, Archive of Our Own, Spacebattles, HFY, various personal author websites, and more

>Why read web novels?
Not for prose or tight editing or deep themes, frankly. As a whole, web novels are infamous for content sprawl and pacing issues. If you enjoy having millions of words to sink your teeth into to get to know the world and characters, though, you may be interested. Keeping up with other readers on a weekly basis to discuss the story's events unfolding is another perk, in the same way discussing an ongoing TV show might be.

>Why write web novels?
Ease of access & potential for Patreon earnings. Many successful authors gain an audience on their website of choice and funnel their readers into a Patreon. See graphtreon.com/top-patreon-creators/writing for an idea of what some are earning.
Also, once an author has earned a fanbase, transitioning into an Amazon self-publishing career is several orders of magnitude easier than starting 'dry'.

In the absence of a strongly justice-minded power with a monopoly on the legitimate use of force, how is that not the optimal move?
I suppose one would also want to slaughter their animals and burn their villages to the ground to ensure you don't miss anyone who might hold a grudge after.

Being known for outrageously out of proportion revenge is one way of avoiding conflict in the first place.

What's the reason for books loved by Redditors (like Aziz Anzari - Modern Love and The Martian by Andy Weir) and posts on Reddit using the style of language that they do? For example, the often use of the word "fuckery" to cover details of ideas they don't understand. "Financial fuckery" is a big one for the redditor. What does the "fuckery" mean, exactly? The redditor doesn't know.
Also combining insults like "fuckwit rightoid" where the anger of the poster is palpable. "That guy? He's a fascist shitlord ballsack who is up to racist fuckery and nazi dickery." Why the fuck do these people write this way?

It might feel juvenile because there's no subject. If I say 'fucking hell he's sick' instead of 'fuck you, you're sick', it seems as if I am avoiding confrontation; more importantly, that I am unable to hold a position on something, unambiguously. In that case, the swear words lose their potency, and it becomes obvious that I'm using them in order to signify a potency of thought which I lack.
