We're never gonna get another World Cup like 2014, are we?

>>152701927
No. Every World Cup will have 48 or 64 teams with as many minnows as possible, they will all be held in at least three countries and preferably oil dictatorships or classic dictatorships or the US. And there will be ad breaks

And until everyone turns off the TV, this will not change. If anything, it will accelerate so that people in 100 years will say „if only World Cups still had some character like in 2030 when they held it with 64 teams in Morocco, Spain, Portugal, Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay“
>>
>>152701927
I preferred 2010 honestly. 2014 was the last decent one although I did like Croatia's 2018 run which was unfortunately cut short just to crown the monkey king Mbappe as the "next big thing".

As the kraut and monkey said, WTT has ruined table tennis for the viewers. Between the unfindable live matches, shitty side view videos, gimmicky courts and tables, and terribly edited match highlight videos on YouTube, they have effectively killed TT kino. Only the Olympics, World Cup, Asian, and European championships, Chinese national games, and the fucking Japanese national championships are worth watching now. 90% of international competition has been ruined by these incompetents, who, by the way, cause the best player in the world to retire at like 31

And to the lead in the other thread, my rating is 1900 and I use a darker hinoki blade with Tenergy 05H and Dignics 05 on the BH.

>USL will launch a new division in 2028 that will be considered Tier 1 of USA Football
>MLS will continue to exist and also be considered Tier 1

How will this work? Teams from both leagues qualify for Continental Competition? Champions of both leagues have a play off to decide who the national champion is? Does any other country have two competing top divisions where the split is NOT geographical?

I think it depends which one is recognised by US Soccer in regards to CONCACAF/FIFA berths. It's an absolute fucking shitshow anyway.

>>152704092
Wouldn't be cricket, that's the IPL. I think you might be on about the Indian Super League which has been delayed for 2025/26 because the money behind it ran out.
>>
i don't know why american soccer doesn't try to split the difference between a franchise model and pro/rel. by this i mean put a hard limit on how many tiers there are -- say, 2 -- this way franchise owners have a cap on how far down they can be relegated.

It is.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again, as a small nation, the things we manage to do in football are very impressive.
But then again, as a small nation, we will get reffballed, as we were before, and the chances of wining it all are small unfortunately, especially because our manager has severe case of lack of hair.

J League is massively underrated imo. As a neutral, the games are ridiculously entertaining and the technical quality is crazy good.

The technical level of (almost) all the players is way higher than people think. First touch, control, passing, and movement are consistently sharp. Many J league players are also surprisingly very two-footed, teams play proper passing football, and the league is genuinely competitive with no single team dominating, similar to the PL. Players like Mitoma didn’t magically become technical in Europe that foundation was already there.

Only real downsides are the lack of physical challenges and the overall pace/tempo is slower compared to the PL or La Liga (naturally), but in terms of pure technique and team play, the J League clears its reputation easily. Think of a more technical version of the scottish league.

It's genuinely good, the only problem is that the hours and the fact they start around February are kind of inconvenient but apparently they are switching to regular August-May like Europe soon.

Teams are charismatic and fans are good, technical level is not that good though
