Dublin is far too Top-Heavy in the Eircom League, with roughly half the teams. On paper, a city the size of Dublin should only have two (maybe three) teams in the Top Flight.Now, let's look outside of Dublin. The second-largest city is Cork. If Cork was a Portuguese city, it would be fourth in terms of Metro Population, behind Braga. If it was a Lithuanian city, it would be third behind Kaunas.Limerick, Galway, Waterford - forget about it. There is not a single settlement this size anywhere in Europe that is consistently competitive on the international stage. The rest of the League is subsidised by regional towns like your Sligos, your Dundalks and your Cobhs.Even *if* Dublin had a competitive team, it would most likely look like Copenhagen, which has only gotten out of the group stage of the Champions League on 2 (TWO) separate occasions.The prospect of getting rid of hurling, rugby and Gaelic Football for such paltry gains is, quite frankly, horrifying.I say all this as somebody who attended every Bohs game for about six years as a kid.
