One of my favourite small races, along with nokere koerse
>>
Just checked procyclingstats, because I was out for my own ride.
Got honked by some wagie cagie on my way back.

>O'Conner got the stage, but
>that fucking time gap

Holy shit, UAE and Bora and Jumbo refused to pull at all?
If O'Conner is any decent shape he can manage this time gap until Madrid even if it's down to seconds by then.
>>
The first post-hike ride is always a little struggle, but it was nicely fresh weather
I wish it was like this all summer

I even saw people in long sleeves and long legs
>>
>>143953363
they refused to pull but also at the end they weren't really gaining at all
o'coomer was very unclean today

And yes, as already discussed, by far the most tragic news is that LAFAY and GALL will now be chained as the most loyal gregarios to this dopeur
>>
>Red Bull-BORA-Hansgrohe team manager Patxi Vila could not call himself a satisfied man afterwards. "It didn't go the way we wanted. The start was very fast and the breakaway of the day was very strong. Lipo was there. We thought he would have no problem staying with Ben and that we would still have an option for the final classification. What O'Connor did was incredible, I have rarely seen that. On the last climb he simply did not lose any time. I never expected that, it is really a surprise what he did."

>The Bora team manager did have a plan ready. "The idea was that Lipo's presence in the leading group would get the other teams working, because they would not like it if we had another rider in the classification. But when O'Connor was so much stronger than I thought, it all got out of hand," he told Cyclingnews.
>>
>>143953546
This is all a lie, no team put the real domestique to work
>>
>>143953546
Liposhitz we fucked it up today
Bora will never trust us again
>>
>>143953461
>overpriced BSO
yeah no, bike shaped objects literally fall apart due to no fault of your own
>>
>>143953581
This.
If Bora was serious they would burn Martinez and Vlasov.
The fact there was 40 people finishing together on a mtf tells you all you need to know about how hard they went.
>>
>>143953546
I wonder how Roglic feels about this. They prioritized getting Lipowitz up in GC over protecting their main captain's lead.
Vlasov and Martinez finished in the peloton and Lipowitz even finished ahead of them. Clearly they didn't try very hard to catch O'Connor.
>>
>>143953665
One reason is Roglic's back might actually be properly fucked and they don't trust him to stay in the race.
>>
A close pass from a 4x4 in a dark tunnel that forced me into a patch of road so Belgian that I dropped my chain... Schizobrit was right about getting cameras. Maybe Schizobrit was right about everything all along

Sorry to hear. They are fucking cunts, britain and america are the two western countries where cyclist deaths per capita are actually increasing! How fucking terrible, and it's attitudes not anything else. Get those cams, I tested my set up and it works great. Caught a close pass, shows how ridiculously close they came compared to the other cars. People do this on purpose, I reject any alternative explainations. I was looking back at taht vehicle and they still close passed, that's a sociopath behavior.

Stay safe out there bert, there's nothing we can do other than report after the fact. Mind you that's if the bone idle police even lift a finger. Just hope it isn't ending in injury or worse. I was hit twice in 4 days this past week, thankfully light but purposeful. World has gone completely mental. My mental health nurse said road rage is very common in the mentally ill bacause they can inflict pain and suffering with very few consequences. Modern world is mental, these psychos would have been filtered out on some battlefield 1000 years ago, even less. Now they're part of 'society'.
>>
There is more than enough time for roglic to chute
>>
>>143953918
Sure.
But unfortunately for O'coomer Almeida and Mas are more then capable of overtaking him even with a dead Roglic.

Just saw a guy loudly smooch up and try to be intimate for a good 10 minutes with a whore he just fucked on the backseat of his car.
For a moment I thought it is his girlfriend or at least a girl he is having an affair with but as soon as she went away she was on her phone, talking, maybe going to another customer and I think this is the same one I have seen a few months ago.

Don't do that berts, I know modernity is hard on all of us and some of us need a valve - good, pay a pro, do what you need to do and be done with it, feel shame and remorse about it.
But this? One of the most pathetic things I have seen.

https://www.cyclingweekly.com/news/road-racing-in-wales-in-unsustainable-situation-governing-body-says

Is cycling (and most other recreational activities other than netflix and slop deliveries) dying in your country? This article is based on Welsh cycling but it represents british cycling as a whole. I'd say there are a third of the events there used to be 10 years ago, possibly even a quater. Society is dying.

with the RCR sure, but decathlon has had a track record of a few years now with the RC520 delivering some pretty good value when compared to traditional big bike. Those were definitely not BSOs. Well berts I officially got the permanent teaching position at the uni, papers signed and all and I will start next January. Not that it's about money but I was also pleased to see a starting salary of 3800e per month and slightly more when I graduate.

It's a fairly common starting wage when you've graduated as masters here, in the private sector you'd probably get 1k more. I was mostly expecting 400e less since uni wages are usually seen as bad

The long anticipated FTP test today. Whoop recover was 45%, awful. Legs still sort from easy day and a rest day? I have no idea but it's always like this when I have a day I need to be fresh for. 320w average for the 20 is the goal, I really do think I'll hit it. It will mark a good few months of progress and a bright off season. Maybe if I hit it today, next season early I'll be sniffing a 340w 20 minute. I don't think that's unrealistic. Started humble earlier this year, around 220w FTP.

I stayed near these guys before. Big group rides 3 times a week. Anyone can just turn up and ride with them. Good weather all year round. But they don't do much climbing mostly flat stuff. It's a touristy area but that's what I like.

Indeed, Alcudia is perfect for this but I wouldn't go later than November. Went last year and February and they've closed down the Tramuntana because of the storms, so I could only ride on the flats.

For winter Costa del Sol is perfect location. Good weather year round, easy access since it's a vacation destination, plenty of accommodation options. Tenerife, Gran Canaria are other options but the islands are small for a two week bike trip and you'd end up on the same roads plenty.

Mallorca is more of a fall/spring destination, winter weather there can be a bit shit.

20m went atrocious, had a feeling it would when I woke up feeling shite. Whoop agreed. Still did it out of impulse. Well below target, I couldn't even hit the 10 minute test numbers I did earlier this week for 5 minutes! 303 average, I was comfortably doing 10 minutes at 320w early this week, pitiful! 5 minute best today was only 315! I couldn't produce lactate, heart rate was low and I couldn't push on. Blew up mid way despite going out below my 10 minute test.
I guess I have shitty fatigued legs, not recovered from Monday squats even. Whoop gave me 45% readiness which is lowest in a while but I don't see why. Starting with a coach next week, so I'm disappointed I can't go to him with new data.

This is always an extremely entertaining race that kicks off the autumn soul races in the carribean, mittelamerika and sudamerika.

The startlist is a little weaker than last year, there's no Guam ex-cons from EuroCyclingTrips with Stefan BENNETT, there's no Movistar - Best PC so let's see if the last years winner Benjamin LE NY can repeat his stunning victory.

It's nice I like it, over worse weather I have a domane from same era. My dad is kindly getting a madone sorted for next year which is nice of him, but my power must be at least a 330w for 20 minute or I refuse to ride it.

I've been riding again for 4 months and after today's shocking FTP test, I'm confident I can do 315 at least only 12 more watts than I did on a bad day today. My 5 min best today wasn't even what my 10 minute sub maximum tests were earlier this week.

So 15 watts more in 7 months? I don't think I'll struggle.

>>143965337
Yes the hammer, it's not a great trainer I do not recommend it. If you cana afford get a wattbike or the new wahoo stationary. I do not think trainers are a great investment. I use left hand stages gen 2 or something on both bikes, tehy're both similar and I believe accurate. 4iiii are probably better but assamo pedals are what we're getting, seen other berts rock them too and they're better and not unaffordable.

Alternative to indoor trainer is rollers with resistence or a rower which is slightly different muscles but compliments cycling well as it works legs hard but opens the chest and strengthens back.

Yeah, everyone knows it, everyone trying playing Smoke on The Water but once you go one level of detail higher people start having a hard time remembering and start treating it as some inside knowledge.
Everyone knows Queen, far fewer people know someone besides Freddie Mercury. Sabbath and Ozzy, Iron Maiden and Bruce Dickinson.

I picked Deep Purple to be my sophisticated teenager band because everyone else was posing with Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd, always grinding every jukebox with the top 2-3 hits.
Are jukeboxes still even a thing.

wasnt your 20 minute FTP like 190watts? where are you getting that youre only 12 watts away from 330. and why is 330 so important, are you a freemason?

if you don't mind the set up constantly it's alright, I believe they're unreliable and break easily in my experience. is it too much space really? when you've set it up, it takes up more space than a stationary. I guess you cannot afford it therefore a stationary is alright but a set of rollers with resistence generally is better for fitness and teaches really good form even experienced rides can benefit from.

>when you set it up more space than a stationary
yea but you can put it together/take it apart in a couple minutes, then its not taking up space. whereas a stationary weighs hundreds of lbs and needs dedicated room.
>a set of rollers with resistence generally is better
that wears down your tires though..i dont see why rollers would be better, theyre cheaper than the kickr by a lot too.

A spectator was walking with the British rider for a while and Knox gave the impression that he was going to hand over a water bottle. However, he did not hand over the bottle and seemed to be playing with the situation. At one point, the camera crew arrived and at that exact moment the spectator fell. Oh, you think cycling is just about riding a bike fast, huh? Let me tell you something, kid. Every pro cyclist only has a finite amount of "matches" to burn in their career. Yeah, you heard me right—MATCHES. It's not just about pedaling hard, it's about strategy, timing, and knowing when to light those metaphorical matches. You think you can just go full gas every race? LOL, good luck burning out before you even hit your prime.

You see, these "matches" are like your explosive efforts, your sprints, your attacks, those all-out, lung-busting moments when you push beyond the brink. Every time you light one up, you're one step closer to burning out for good. That's why the legends, the true greats, they know how to save their matches for when it really counts. They wait, they watch, they make every match count.

But you? You wanna blow your load early, go ahead. Burn all your matches in the first few seasons, try to win every crit, every KOM, every pointless sprint. See what happens. By the time you're 27, you'll be a washed-up has-been, reminiscing about that one year you went all out.

Meanwhile, the real pros are still in the game, still stacking wins, because they didn't blow their load like some amateur. They know the truth: once your matches are gone, you're done. No amount of training, no fancy bike, no nutrition plan is gonna bring those matches back. So go ahead, light 'em up early. We'll see who's still around when the real races begin.

"When we got to the top I was pretty much isolated, which made it hard to manage the situation. But then Sepp Kuss helped. I don't know if people understand what it's like to do such a job when you weigh less than 60 kilograms. When Sepp took the lead, I was sitting on the wheel with goose bumps. Fortunately, I was able to finish it."

"In our team it's not just about winning, but also about performing as a team. Everyone has to sacrifice themselves sometimes."

“But the fact that the defending champion in this Vuelta works like this for me is a great example of our team philosophy,” Van Aert concluded.

Vingegaard, Wout and Kuss are some of the most likable riders in the peloton. They don't show off to cameras and they are honest in interviews. Now compare their conduct to poogacunt who is cocky and puts on a goofy act as well as does shit like pretend not to breathe on climbs, there's a big gap in likability of the riders. Visma are very likable and I'm happy when they win. UAE are cocky and arrogant. A team full of convicted dope doctors and arab money, the epitome of what is wrong with modern sports.

>arab sponsored teams with endless pockets like uae are absolutely soulless, they're so much worse than ineos/sky in the day
those two entities are what made cycling a competitive sport with tight sport science and record pushing performances year after year.

I was reading about the clean tennis player they tried to frame for doping. Lucky for him a study had previously been done looking into contamination of the exact substance in the exact way he was contaminated! They put cream on their hands and shook hands with other people. The other people then all tested positive. Mental. How easy it would be to sabotage someone.

>>
>>143968241
yeah, you can test positive for steroids if you eat meat that comes from mismanaged cattle, say it got a shot a few days before being butchered. With that being said, top athletes are pretty much all doping anyway. Just not with tren and 19nor steroids, that'd be dumb
>>
>>143968312
It would be very difficult to sabotage someone with contaminated meat. An absurdly convoluted plot. But one hand shake could end someone's career.

literally every single runner that has done a 9.77 or under 100m has been tested positive and banned. Including Bolt (they just refused to retest). Not to mention china, russia, the whole sport of weightlifting. Yeah, if you are shit and a nobody that can't get a lawyer, then I guess the career could be over.
