It's amazing how far Yurope is ahead on wine technology and research...in America, we have only red, white, and rose wines.

Ride cut short today due to slow leak in my rear (tubeless) tire. Pumped up to 70 PSI this am, was at 20 PSI after only 40 minutes.

I decided not to use my spare tube and instead just ride back and change tire. I had a big puncture a few weeks ago that sealed by obviously something still not right. There was still a bit of fresh sealant in the tire so not sure what the issue was.

Anyway, I did mount my fresh out-of-box GP5000s in literally like two minutes

I doubt they will introduce an option to buy UCI points off other teams. The new relegation system kind of went in the opposite direction.
We'll see what Hirschi can do on Tudor. He's not so old that he's just there for retirement money.

premiums through the roof and then they won't payout on a technicality. happens in most countries. I used to work in insurance and the lads sat across from me, technical claims department I think they were called, would spend the day calling people to tell them they weren't their payout that they thought their insurance covered.

Yes, this is exactly how it works. Insurance companies refuse to pay for anything despite obscene monthly premiums and 5-figure deductibles. They will force you to harass and harang them for everything, hoping that you give up and just pay because you're getting bills from collections and you're worried your credit will be hurt.

My favourites are Viña Real (by CVNE), Luis Cañas and Ramón Bilbao, although I've been disappointed lately by Ramón Bilbao.

I don't know how hard to find those are in Canada.

Women usually like Carbonic Maceration (Maceración Carbónica). It's a winemaking technique which is starting to be used around here.

I always ask for one of those wines, regardless of the brand, when I'm on a date

It isn't the insurance companies trying to fuck you that shocks me the most (as you say, it is like that everywhere), but in the US everything seems to be on a different magnitude.

How can a trip to the hospital (without fault on your own) set you back 50k, 100k, 250k, and then insurances companies telling you to fuck-off? Knowing full well this will utterly ruin you. I know we make a lot of fun of the US and stuff, but it just seems _too broken_ for me, I cannot fully wrap my mind around it.

>It isn't the insurance companies trying to fuck you that shocks me the most (as you say, it is like that everywhere)
In the special case of health insurance, it's not nearly this bad here.
But what's extremely broken here is that there's no "final" judgment in private law. Even if you take the insurance company to court and the judge tells them to pay the fuck up, they can just force a new trial by producing "new" "evidence", and they can do this over and over again and delay payment infinitely, until you either agree to their terms or die.

Is there some tool that will find the flattest section of road in your area? Finally attempting structured training for the first time in my life and the extremely hilly/mountainous terrain around me makes it almost impossible to consistently stay in the Z1 power range. I don't have access to a trainer unfortunately.

You can use Strava heatmaps or RideWithGPS to find popular routes in your area.

Unfortunately if you want to get autistic about structured training, it's hard to do with rolling terrain. Sustained climbs or flats are what you're looking for.

If you really have nothing but crazy hills around you, maybe get something like an 11-36 cassette to help moderate power. And remember, you're not getting paid for this, you don't need to spend 85.69% of your time in Z2 as precisely calculated by a 20 minute test. You can just go really hard on your hard days and take it easy otherwise and ride lots of miles

>I couldn’t immediately gauge how I was feeling today,” continues Kuss, who crossed the line in 15th place in Granada. “The heat played a role from the start. On the final climb I decided to go for my own pace. In retrospect I am happy that I was able to limit the damage again.”

>The form is there and I feel good. There are a lot of riders in excellent shape at the moment. I'm trying to focus on my own performance now. There are still two long weeks to come in this Vuelta. We'll see what they can bring.

Yeah Komen's old record was considered at least as good as El-Guerrouj's- 1500m WR, so pretty incredible stuff. Although in athletics I don't really rate the new world records as high due to the shoe and track surface technology. As far as I'm concerned, El-Guerrouj is still the best ever middle distance runner and Kenenisa Bekele by far the best long-distance guy.

don't get the 0 degrees as a starter. You need some float at first until you perfectly tune your position.
I have TIME pedals and both cleats, float and fixed. Non float is good for racing, an occasional 2-3hrs intense ride where you need every bit of power transfer possible. However for everyday riding float cleats are better, you underestimate the long term comfort of having the ability to sway your feet just 5°. Mechanically it dissipates all the tension in your leg that otherwise builds up in your knee. Years of fixed cleats only and at 40 your knees are done for. This is no joke you should pretend fixed cleats don't exist at least for the next few years
>>

>Winner of the Alpes Isère Tour, the Giro Next Gen and the Tour du Val d'Aoste, the Belgian was the big favourite for the Tour de l'Avenir. But since everything seemed easy for the 1st year Espoir, there were probably mistakes upstream. At least that’s his feeling. “I did too many races. I had already told the team two months ago that I was doing too many races, but they didn’t listen to me and we can see what that means. This week showed that I had to train more and do fewer races.”

>For his coach, Sven Vanthourenhout, there is some positive in this failure. “Maybe it’s not so bad for him because the expectations around him are always higher and higher,” he told DirectVelo the day his rider folded his wings on the road to Mont-Cenis. And at the end of the event, his speech had not changed. “It’s not because he didn’t win the Tour de l’Avenir that he won’t have a brilliant future. He has to learn from a race like that and from the disappointments. Everyone is still very proud of Jarno, but he wasn’t ready for this Tour de l’Avenir”.

>His future should involve another attempt at the Tour de l’Avenir. “I’ll come back next year and try again”, promises the man who should continue in the Lotto-Dstny . But well before that, there will be the U23 World Championship in Zurich (Switzerland) at the end of September. “I will only do the World Championship and the Tour of Lombardy between now and the end of the season. I will only focus on these big goals, and no longer on the small races”. A first lesson learned from his complicated Tour de l’Avenir.

I'm usually far more sympathetic than most of /cyc/ to these sorts of things, but this feels like a pretty made up issue. Just ride a stronger bike then move to something else if you lose weight. It's not like the extra couple of kg is going to make a significant difference. Just like me riding a bike a few kg heavier than the lightest bikes doesn't really matter much because I'm nearly 80 kg already. If you go full weight weenie as a non-pro, you better be 65 kg MAX.

lmao they are paying 2-5k more for minimal weight and aero gains, just fucking buy a bike that can support all your fat and concentrate on losing it and the gains would be 100 to 1 when compared to performance bikes.

Not to mention that there is literally a miracle drug in the market right now, just fucking give your money to the d*nish at novo. shit ain't hard.
>>
>>144025008
136 fucking kilos. why would you be sympathetic to that. the limit is for safety reasons. it's not you're are excluding 90kg slightly over weight folk.
>>

>>
>>144025060

>>
my dad said he had a fat customer who was around 140kg and he just accepted the bike will break. he'd be back every few months for blowing out spokes and just got new wheels every time. as >>144025008 said it's just another made up issue by a tabloid news site. THESE SHOULD BE IGNORED AND NOT GIVEN ATTENTION, because that is exactly what these people want.
>>
Also what do they mean by more transparent about weight limits? Do they want them to spell it out? If you weigh as much as a small car you will probably break this bike. Jesus wept

Oh I meant the rest of my post. Where I said I disagreed with this. I'm not going to seek this out. Guarantee it's either complete nonsense by some random angry fuck they found, or a real story about a manufacturer not being forthcoming with limits, blown up with a clickbait title. Either way not worth anyone's time. And yet here we are on a Congolese quilting forum talking about it.

>>
>>144025154
unironically it's a perfect little case to show how and why big tabloid is so successful by tugging on the outraged emotions of our slightly dim members of society. if I had a pound for everytime someone spoke about how outrageous it is that men pretend to be women and want to use their toilets...!
>>
>>144025154
oh yeah, I agree with your point, any gains from a 1-2k bike to a 10k+ is going to be completely negated by an extra 10kg of extra fat, let alone someone who is easily at 45+ BMI and/or 50kg+ over any healthy standard. Take that money and give it to novo, it will improve your life more than you can possibly imagine

Ben O'Connor feels no extra pressure: "Now it's up to other riders to make moves"

>Not Primoz Roglic, Enric Mas or Mikel Landa, but Ben O'Connor leads the Vuelta a España after nine stages. And after his power grab in the stage to Yunquera, his rivals are looking at a considerable gap. Does this comfortable starting position also bring extra pressure?

>It was one of the questions posed to O'Connor at an online press conference, during the first rest day of the Tour of Spain. In his own words, the Decathlon AG2R leader does not feel any extra pressure.
> "Because it's quite unexpected. I never thought about being able to wear the leader's jersey here in the Vuelta," Het Nieuwsblad quotes. "Many classification riders never get the chance to wear the leader's jersey in a big tour. So I am especially enjoying it."

>"I actually really like racing at the head of the race. Now it's up to other riders to make moves, not me anymore," said O'Connor, who did not get into trouble Sunday in the crucial mountain stage to Granada. Indeed, he managed to snatch four bonification seconds at the line.

It is, my family lives norf in a hilly city, how much more fun it is to hang out when stuff is a bit hidden and the reveals itself.
My town technically has a small hill in the centre too, and it gets healy (HEHE) once you're on the southeastern outskirts and you can freewheel for longer periods of time on a few true falsopianos.

there is big money in cycling data overlay for videos. there's the one most use which is 120 dollar one off payment, a scam but people love it. surely cannot be hard to develop an overlay for video, all you need to do is match up 1s dataplots to a video with a graphic overlay. it really cannot be hard to do, yet there are no real viable free options I know of.

Then the Chinese Coronavirus came (and age, of course), the /cyc/ office sent all home, sold our chairs to Poland. I stopped r*nning, stopped walking, started to ride a bike and my legs never recovered. I can hike still uphill 2k a day ""no problem"" but descending the same amount means I am on suicide watch for a week.
I hiked couple times this summer, it improved a little but it's far far from perfect.

first time i ever dealt with it and the volunteers at the shop were all busy so I was on my own for a bit, I actually rewatched the park tool video when I came home and I realized there was no rear wheel, the chain wasn't going on the rear sprockets. Chain did go through the chain plates though although it wasn't on the biggest one like i was doing this evening. Forgot the little details.
