/cyc/ should make their own bike brand called Van Bert with the top tier bike called the Squeak. Bertaczek would be responsible for the bottom brackets to make sure that the bike stands for its name. We will hire Puck Moonen to shill for our bikes. The contract with her would include a clause that she has to finish the races she starts or she won't be paid.

Yeah, it's relatively common actually, but most often we get some snow, then it melts into slush after a few days or weeks, then some new snow again etc. A good continuous winter with a decent amount of snow and mostly minus degrees from december to march is much rarer here compared to the Northern and more central parts of the country.

A Subaru, potentially a crosstrek, If not, a RAV4 or a CRV.

Changed the old plastic pedals on my commuter bike with metal bmx pedals. I didn't end up hurting myself or bleeding, but man is it awkward trying to find that flat part of the nut with the pedal wrench and then putting yourself in a position with good leverage. Calvin Jones from Park Tool TM made it look so easy.

Did my first proper rape session. It was enthusiastic, vigorous, prolonged, and athletic.

The app is so shit they force this colour coded bullshit. Just show the numbers. It's hard to concentrate the whole time. I start daydreaming and go way off pace without noticing. Fitness seems reasonable anyway. 291W avg for 20 minutes including warm up and down. Should be well over 300 in a month.

Your messages are way too obnoxious so I'll answer only once.

Just ride your bike, forget about power training zones, etc. Just ride your bike as much as you can, sometimes hard, sometimes long and slow, but fucking ride. Do 10hours a week for a year and then you can start thinking about power.

in the 9th current year, what does it even mean for a bike to be a "beater"/"winter beater"?
>ultralightweight and fragile is no longer a mainstream marketing goal, if you don't deliberately seek out drillium or carbon that flexes when you squeeze it you're not gonna get it
>everything has discs and can fit 32s
>carbon these days is as durable as aluminum (I think?) and about the same price in most markets (I think????) and neither one is going to rust if you ride it in the rain
related: if you try to combine training and transport, what does your setup look like? road race bike with a saddle bag, sensible cheap grabbelbike with SPDs, flat pedal Dutch meme, other?

Real talk now; I know for a fact that you're getting outperformed by my 61 year old mother who is completely sedentary and you're getting outperformed by 11 year olds and not just by a bit, neither of which should be possible. They have stronger muscles than you and they could probably take you out 1 vs 1 - the only logical conclusion at this point: Euthanasia

beater/winter beater is a bike you don't mind locking outside when you go do something. Something that can be used for commuting without washing it after every rainy ride. Something thta can take fenders if you live in a wet area.
>>
>>145631520
Now that I think of it my rather tiny, unathletic mom has an FTP in the 100 W range.
>>
>>145631465
beater is for going to the shops or whatever. Not for training or long rides
winter bike is your old road bike that you don't mind getting destroyed in the rain
>>
>>145631465
You need another bike for commuting, can't do it without fenders, even in south of france
>>
>>145631654
>fenders
>>145631694
>fenders
okay, fair point, but clip-ons/ass saver type will pretty much fit on anything
>>145631668
>without washing it after every rainy ride
i mean, that's any bike, unless you have something that's gonna rust. right?
>>145631673
>getting destroyed in the rain
but again what does this actually entail? like a $100 80s paramount or whatever is gonna do way worse in the wet than a 2024 tcr. frame rust, exposed cabling, probably worse weather sealing on rotating parts, rim wear from braking in road grit, ....
>>
>>145631752
Real full length fenders. It's for going about town, commuting and doing things that aren't training. That means you'll be at least at times be wearing normal clothes that you don't want all dirty. And they protect your bike. If you have a nice bike you want to wash it after rainy rides, maybe not for the rust but road grime sticks on there and piles on if you don't wash it.
>>
>rim breaks
jog on la
this general is firmly established member of the disc/paypig alliance
>>
>>145631752
Realistically what's going to wear more in shit weather is chain, bearings, brake pads and discs and potentially spokes and nipples if they get fused to one another through corrosion which I've had before.
If you want to get a new bike for bad weather riding of any kind just go for it, people just use old/cheaper stuff for bad weather riding to save money and without feeling bad about it being all dirty and crusty all the time

>Meanwhile, Bonnamour maintained his innocence. The driver wrote on X that he had ‘always respected the rules’. He said he had not used any banned substances and wanted to prove this with the help of his lawyers. However, he has now decided to give up the fight. “The defence is becoming too expensive”, he said in an interview with Ouest-France.

all the group rides in my area are always 3-7 hours long
is this abnormal?
they do a 'short ride' and it's 3 hours
is that normal or are they all try hards?

>>
>>145680510
depends, here no one rides in groups on weekends for a ride shorter than 4h, this is 100 to 120km depending on the amount of climbing
big ride is usually above 4 to 6h usually
most groups usually do a big stop for a beer or coffee and talk about crap for a while tho
>>
what is the demographics of people that do group rides in your areas?
its almost all smart people with high paying jobs around me, like doctor or people in heathcare research, mech/electrical/comp engineering, lawyers, real estate, well to do business owners...some people in BS but high paying tech jobs like UX

i feel real weird
>>
>>145680447
I would say 3-7 hrs is common range for weekend rides for my local club. The "short ride, home before breakfast ride" starts at 6am and I think is like 70-80km

For weekday rides, there's plenty of 1-1.5 hr before/after work rides
>>
>>145680698
>its almost all smart people with high paying jobs around me, like doctor or people in heathcare research, mech/electrical/comp engineering, lawyers, real estate, well to do business owners...some people in BS but high paying tech jobs like UX

>Egan Bernal can count on the leadership of INEOS Grenadiers in the Giro d'Italia next season. This is reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport in the weekend newspaper. It would mean a return for Bernal in the Giro d'Italia, which he immediately won in his first and only participation in 2021.
