Is there any S10 gun that isn't also multiple Damage though?
>>
>>97359123
Terminators wouldn't be instakilled by any melee weapon weaker than a S10 Chainfist, anon. That is available only to other terminators, and they are also D2+. The only thing that would change would be for artificer officers, really

Which could never have been done if instant death, rather than damage, were the system. That change would have rendered terminators into unkillable monstrosities. God forbid T6 3W saturnines, what would you even shoot them with?
>Hidden Power Fist can't be a thing when casualties are decided by the controlling player
What are you on about anon? "the controlling" player is the guy who owns the models, so YOU. You pick who dies unless the opponent has a special rule to the contrary. But "plucky sgts" are certainly less of a thing this edition, between having fewer attacks and not being able to challenge without a prime advantage theres really no situation where your lucky powerfist sarge pastes the enemy praetor (not that it was happening much before either)

Travel log #4 [Seattle, Washington State]-[*7/10]
>>>>>Pros
>An actual population centre for us, first one I've really been to since Toronto and almost getting murdered in Milwaukee.
>This place is thriving with life of every kind. Even if I'm kind of a dinosaur, my companion was able to bring me into the thick of it. It should be easy for any willing to play the Camarilla line to set up shop here comfortably.
>Just about every sort of clan has some present, most of them recent. If a fledgling needed to seek out their elders on relatively equal footing, you could do worse.
>That view across the water is something.
>>>>>Cons
>Currently there are ( 4 ) competing factions vying for the title of leadership in the city as a total gongshow recently transpired. Old Money pioneers, new money Sabbat adjacent technophiles, actual Sabbat from Mexico and Anarch exiles from California. Bit of a pain in doing introductions, and the rivalry is murderous. The Trems, Kuei, and Nos are also serious issues, though at least the Nos lent us a safe place to spend the day. Good bunch, I know you keep tabs here so you won't hear a bad word out of me.
>Despite the population there is an absolute gongshow of Loups nearby, beside a thriving hunter population apparently.
>Despite recently exploding, this town is like to explode again.
>A cult of Jugalo Malks tried recruit Mèo-Mèo and when she refused they tried kidnapping her. Mèo-Mèo also explained what a 'Jugalo' is and I'm... Well I- Never liked clowns.

Outside of the awkwardness of repeated introductions, staring into the deadpan face of inhumane psychopaths (with somehow the Sword of Caine Lasombra die-hard being the least disturbing) vying for control of a whole city, and the Clown incident... Not bad. I certainly prefer the seedier side of town to whatever the wannabe princes are doing. Although I could never live here.

Getting a good routine going. Down to Oregon next to see a... Friend? Maybe? If he made it, of course.
>>
>>97358153
Hm. No doubt the Loup would be happy to do the same. Such abomination don't form unless someone tries very hard to force something against very intrinsic natures. Or worse, takes the gifts of the Loups through violence.

Mercifully, the inverse of this... 'Abomination' doesn't happen. Your childe will either be savable or will expire. A small comfort.

If you could share info on the abomination and whatever made it, I'd like to pass it along to people who'd be interested.

>>97358236

>The closest thing to some good news is that Scarlet is so furious her eyes are bright red, perhaps this first expression of Protean is another lesson that was learned tonight.
I'm mad at my weakness, the best mood to learn Disciplines. Teach me, I wanna do more to help Blue Fairy than giving her headpats.
>>97358889
>Such abomination don't form unless someone tries very hard to force something against very intrinsic natures. Or worse, takes the gifts of the Loups through violence.
Venus is busy calling her contacts, she said that when she is done "prying the wolf out of Boy Toy's brain" it will be Blue Fairy's turn, that she doesn't believe there was "much of an exchange of information between those three fools", and that she'd bet some Black Hand is involved.
An anon mentioned the NY abomination first here, I can guess why they wanted to stay anonymous.

The lupines are trespassing my land again
>>
>>97359079
If it's really the Black Hand we're dealing with - and not a random freak accident where one unfortunate lupine becomes the embodiment of everything he opposes - we're going to need an army.
Not one or three coteries dressed in SWAT gear. An army.

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere.

Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency.

If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. We also have two excellent beginner guides created by Anons with feedback from the thread that you can check for help:

>I am thinking of that room having a ladder up to a hatch right by the entrance of the dungeon - this being the lower level - to cut escaping players off.
I'm not sure I understand how a potential escape route might serve to cut the PCs off. Are you suggesting the dungeon inhabitants have reinforcements up there who will come down? Or is the idea that PCs will not find the ladder/not think to use it to flee if they do find it, and the undead will thus use it to get to the exit before the players and maul them there?

Anyway, as long as it's discoverable I can't personally see a huge issue with it as long as you're okay with the PCs using it to escape faster if they find it, instead. Multiple passages between levels is ideal.

primarily, the loot increase is only for magic items, not gold. this will give them a gold sink in having to get many items identified or scrounge up scrolls. experimentation can still be used, but a scroll or identify spell is immediate and thorough, without the risk of being cursed. that's my thought anyway. maybe I've been playing too much POWDER and shattered pixel dungeon.

PTA and PTU (which is based on PTA) are a total slog. You basically need tools, because there's so much fucking crunch. The powerscaling gets pretty insane too, since trainers can potentially learn how to use moves like Pokemon do.

You can play Pokerole instead, which is much less cumbersome, and takes inspiration from Storyteller system, but you might need to be ready to improvise and homebrew some things.
>>
>>97356918
pokerole is pretty promising, I'm not looking for a full package just a startpoint I can simplify further to introduce the concept of rpgs to 10-year-olds. PTA, PTU, Oddysee and PTR yeah they seem too complex for that.
>>
>>97357118
Part of the issue with PTA/PTU is that the math tries to resemble the video games too much. It just bogs everything down with bookkeeping, and makes generating new things laborious.

Pokerole is simple. Attribute+Stat=Dice Pool and roll for successes is the type of thing. It's meant for more fast and loose adventuring, with a style closer to the manga, and where you can control the scale of the game as a GM by using the sort of tier system for what trainers are capable of doing.

Holy fucking shit battlefronts germany dickriding is next level. Early war is already an unbalanced piece of shit.

>Germans are hit on 4+ and 3+ skill level
>British and French are hit on 3+ and 4+ skill level

The heaviest tanks in early war are the renault at 6 front armor for 10 points each or the matilda ii at 7 front armor for 17 fucking points each.

Meanwhile germany can field 88s as usual with 14 Anti tank and range 40" for 5 fucking points each. Its literally just going to be people spamming 88s because they kill anything they hit and its 8 shots across the board for cheaper than 2 heavy tanks.
>>
>>97357922
Did Germany even use 88's as Anti-Tank guns before Barbarossa?
>>
>>97358183
They used them as direct-fire guns during Fall Gelb - at the crossing of the Meuse at Sedan, XIX Korps suppressed the French fortified positions and bunkers with accurate long-range direct fire.

A Song of Ice and Fire, Argatoria, Batman Miniature Game, Carnevale, Conquest: The Last Argument of Kings,
Deadzone, Dragon Rampant, Dropfleet and Dropzone Commander, Freebooter's Fate, Frostgrave, Gaslands, HeroClix,
Kings of War, Maelstrom's Edge, Malifaux, Marvel Crisis Protocol, Masters of the Universe: Battleground, Moonstone,

>>
>>97358815

I don't think he edits his own stuff anymore. He also films like 4+ in a day for one game then releases them one a week when he does series. Probably does similar with some of the other videos.
>>
>>97355526
Rangers is pretty solid. I can chuck up some of the books in newvola for you if you want to check it out.
I also recommend looking at En Garde, that's in the osprey games trove. Fantasy stuff and campaign rules are a little simplistic. You can still game out stuff like the fight for Balin's Tomb, your average Conan fight, or samurai/swashbuckling movie really easily with it. Mechanically the game is fast, relatively simple without being brain-dead, and it has fun blind-bidding in combat.

>>97356868
>I think not being bog-standard fantasy is a cons for most of the people...
It's more that it's very expensive outside the loss-leading starter, the models don't really go with anything else because they deliberately chose a stupid scale, it doesn't encourage the kind of exciting tables that get people to make convention games, nor is it well-distributed. The rules are good. It's everything else dragging it down.
>>
>>97358457
TONNAGE don't do this, battletech is a weird game and tonnage is somehow worse than BV
Could do something with force organization charts for basic troop requirements and X number of upgrades depending on the mission or other factors. The upgrades or support elements get picked from a different list army dependent.
>>
>>97358851
Sorry, for the other anons Ash from GMG. I figure his name would be recognizable since he positioned himself at "the awg guy" for so many years.

All I'll say is that optimizing his filming schedule to maximize the capitalistic exploitation of the community that puts food on his table is VERY on brand for his assholish personality. He has truly never given a shit about awgs and it's almost impressive that people still platformed him for like a decade now

>>97358983
DW about putting them up anon, I found a huge trove and flipped through rangers. I dont think it will be a good fit for them, but I will keep it for my own collection. I was a bit wary of post frostgrave mccullugh and after reading through it this afternoon feel like I kinda was right to not actually spend money on it

>>97358983

Also to be clear the Primordials, Yozis and Neverborn do come off as massive, petty cunts. It is just that they are cunts with a sense of grandeur, wonder and genuine passion (their love for music and dance) that through the magic of White Wolf writing, is somehow completely absent from the Exalted.

Like, if you ask me who’s COOLER between the fallen titans and the Twilight who cursed an entire kingdom because Low Key stole his ho, or Raksi, I’m going to vote for the Yozi 9 times out of 10. And on the 10th time, I will at least acknowledge the Ebon Dragon is more upfront about being a villain than Desus.

So I'm currently trying to arrange 3 different decks thematically match a specific experience. Not by things like card types but by the experience playing it should provide. The end goal is to finalize the deck and then make custom art cards fitting to the theme. Im a ways into the first one but I'd like your thoughts on all three:

>A Sekiro themed deck around Ashina Castle that turtles with little tricks throughout and old dying Isshin as the commander
>A Sekiro Deck from the position of Wolf with heavy damage prevention and counters for parries and living weapons/for mirrodin/job select and other artifacts for his tools and Planeswalker for allies
>A Bloodborne Deck from the position of the Healing Church

The Ashina Castle one is being assembled now. The commander I have is Arcades the Strategist. Ashina was seized when Isshin died and people were scared to approach when he was still around so a commander that is central to a deck working fits the vibe. I can be imposing and turtle, with some tricks and removal on the side. Have a sideboard tutor that is the Mortal Blade where I can bring in some card for Sword Saint Isshin or other named characters.
(Also it's thematic to just fucking crushed eventually so I'm looking forward to just having fun with this deck)

The Wolf deck is harder to assemble. The intention is to use Raff Capashen so I can flash artifacts to counter things and have more reactive gameplay overall. Im struggling with having solid win conditions.

The Healing Church deck is the least developed. I don't know what mechanics would fit the opt-in but corrupting nature of the blood in Bloodborne. I want to lean towards goad but nothing fits it well so far.

True enough, perhaps against DoK or Gitz they'd be of more use. I think he's planning to drop them when fighting my Maggotkin and double down on VRaptors as his ranged option.

After playing both the original Shandalar and the 2016 update version I've come to the conclusion that magic was just more fun in 1995 when it was more loose and relaxed. The kinds of decks you go up against in the 2016 version are so much more ruthless about shutting down every play you make that the only way to compete is to be an even more obnoxious dickhead and make sure they never get a chance to do anything. Every victory was bitter and spiteful in a way that I never felt with the older simpler Magic cards.

Every cardgame was more fun when you could only build your deck with the cards you had. The biggest boner I ever had playing cardgames was trying to figure out ways to combo my shitty cards midgame.

Of course it's fun to have any card at your disposition online, but to me that's only fun for deckbuilding, it completely ruins the actual game because a very limited meta will always develop, while in real life the introduction of a single card could completely change the value of others.

Correct.
The game was 100% unironically at its best when threats were bad and counters to them were godlike. Every game going to 20+ turns as a matter of course meant it didn't matter if you won the coinflip or if your deck had a perfect curve. It was a marathon, not a sprint. You could literally skip your first couple turns and not die. Unthinkable now.

As a side note, the AI decks in Shandalar capture perfectly the tone of original Magic decks. They aren't made to win at any cost, but rather they each have some silly theme or gimmick and they try to execute it. This one tries to do the Basilisk-Lure, this one is just walls and pingers, this one tries to kill with Dingus Egg and LD... That's exactly the type of decks we had when the game was brand new and there was no tournament scene to speak of. We'd just try to do some cool thing and were happy if we got it to work in one game out of 10. Winning was strictly secondary, there was nothing to win anyway.

>causal play is still best
That's probably the problem I had with Shandalar 2016. It felt very much designed around optimal play where every mistake is punished with immediate failure. I hated crafting a deck that was laser focused on discards and land destruction but it was the only strategy that actually worked for me.

It's infuriating that we'll never have a proper client. MTGO codebase is from the 90s and the UI looks absolutely terrible while Arena is on par with gacha slop mobile games.
Was it that hard to invest in a mtgo amd rework it to make it look more appealing to a newer audience? I don't see why wotc wanted to make a new client from scatch when one already had every card in it.

Conversely, if a digimon gains a "End of Attack" effect while attacking, it will be applied after battling.
