I figured the lore of my Harlies, they sneak into your planet, mount a play educating the populace on what the planet was like when it was under Eldar control, give out ayahuasca laced candy, and sneak out before anybody can catch them, sometimes bringing underhive gangers with them to party with.

This is a second OSRG, seperate from the main osrg thread, where you CAN talk about 2e, retroclones, and any osr content you want.
This is different than the regular osrg as due to rampant trolling from a handful of bad actors, discussion is impossible.

I read them. None of this soft, low engagement click play and attention drifts off business. I actually had to actively engage with the books look at the words, turn pages, even remember where I was up to since bookmarks are for sissies.

They are bad. They are Troy Denning fiction which should tell you enough already. Writing games he is good at, writing fiction is not his strength.

Most of the characters are barely likeable, thankfully Rikus is one of the tolerable ones. He splits the party only not in a good Tolkien way, not even in a not too bad Dragonlance first trilogy way. The good thing about that is it gets rid of the other characters for a while, the bad thing is it gets rid of the tolerable ones for a while. They're just not believable as people.

The action is all over the place. It jumps around with terrible pacing. Long periods of nothing then Denning remembers he's supposed to be advancing the plot and it's rushed. Challenges are pulled out of nowhere as hard as Palpatine was pulled out of the grave to replace Snoke.

The wizard woman turns into a Mary Sue even compared to the other characters. In a story already story full of Mary Sues this is something spectacular. Characters have the implausible ability to travel at the speed of plot rather than by believable means. When they're not on stage things just develop conveniently. The wizard woman's powers just develop. There's no sense of threat after the first novel, and not much in that one.

Of course, they take on the worst bad guys around, how else can they do anything else in a fantasy novel, but in doing so they make a mockery of the the Dragon, a unique monster who's supposed to the baddest bad guy around, so bad that he was created solely to be badder than and to keep in check the next baddest bad guy.

>>97257781
They are bad. You can ignore them and you can ignore every reference to the metaplot even if it might be a little convenient to have Tyr free from a sorceror king.

Kind of ironic considering how guns affect masquerade's vampires, maybe it was because of aberrant.

>Everything has changed a lot in the last 25 years in the attitudes of RPG players.
No. Gunfags still act like that.
>>
>>97262482
I still see it in Exalted. "A machine gun could wipe out solars" like bro a stream of bullets is just an AoE attack. Or the whole "Well it'll give mortals a way to attack long distances" which honestly how do you even argue.

I personally like to think of guns as first age artifacts and very magical. So no machine gun, but lasers, revolvers, canons... All working because of the prayers delicately carved into their frame. Along with gunpowder that needs to be blessed to work properly. Think about how they treat guns in the Dark Tower.
>>
What name did you give to your Alchemical? What Caste are they? Why are they called that?
>>
>>97262482
>>97262566

What I mean is that we're perfectly accustomed to Exalted being able to no-sell guns, and even having some heroic mortals managing bullet dodging by the skin of their teeth. There may always be people weird about guns, but the game is never going to support guns being an equalizer between Exalted and mortals. The guns that are impressive to Exalted are the kind of Artifact guns and blasters in Shards of the Exalted Dream, and they're only deadly because one of the Chosen, a god, etc. is committing motes to them.

Finally got around Chu Han, it's a pretty neat little 2 player take on President. Probably a bit too long for its own good, but I think it wins out over his Winter Court if only because tug of war can feel inherently pales compared to destroying/being destroyed across multiple tricks. I'm also a sucker for tempo focused card games and both of them use it well, so they'll both probably stay for now.
That said, I am consistently amazed by how much the gulag despises anything closely related to classic games that has an ounce of luck.

>What is /awg/?
A thread to talk about minis and games which fall between the cracks, or peoples' homebrew wargames.
The >>>/tg/hwg thread doesn't entertain fantasy (for good reason) and the other threads are locked to more specific games.
This thread isn't tied to a game, a publisher, or a genre, let's just talk about fun wargames. Any scale, any company, any miniatures.

>Examples of games that qualify.
A Song of Ice and Fire, Argatoria, Batman Miniature Game, Carnevale, Conquest: The Last Argument of Kings,
Deadzone, Dragon Rampant, Dropfleet and Dropzone Commander, Freebooter's Fate, Frostgrave, Gaslands, HeroClix,
Kings of War, Maelstrom's Edge, Malifaux, Marvel Crisis Protocol, Masters of the Universe: Battleground, Moonstone,
Oathmark, OnePageRules, Open Combat, RelicBlade, Rumbleslam, SAGA, StarCraft, Stargrave, Sludge, Urban War, Void,
Warcaster, Warmachine, Xenos Rampant, Xenotactics...
...and anything else that doesn't necessarily have a dedicated thread.

Bronze Age collapse

I just painted my first minis ever. I'm painting 15mm Germans and Americans. It looks meh. Besides the stupid skin tone which I will fix after buying some more paint tomorrow, what can I improve? (The base isn't primed yet, ignore that)
>>
>>97258020
>Which obscure conflict would you like to collect miniatures for and get a game going?
Dunno really, more interested in good rules rather than particular eras which tends to push me towards popular eras with more attention from rules writers. Sam Mustafa's Aurelian is on the cards down the track though, and I'd love to run Over The Hills and Far Away but that would be a big project readying it.
>>
anyone know any cults/my mini factory makers of 30yw/english civil war era miniatures? Thus far Atlantic Games has a pretty solid line of renaissance era stls, and I've found the odd miniature arquebusier character on cults, but not much else.
>>
>>97259539
Wing of Glory is pretty simplified and you need specific sets of cards for each aircraft. Expensive and limited options with aircraft. It is a "programming" game, where each player plays 3 cards with movement arrows on them, then players reveal 1 card at a time simultaneously, and their aircraft makes the move.

Blood Red Skies is also quite simplified, there is no altitude or speed, aircraft are either 'advantaged' 'disadvantaged' or 'neutral', and the flight stand tilts the aircraft forward or backward to represent this.

If you want something that actually has altitude and speed taken into account, and has pretty much every WW2 aircraft (including bombers, ground attack, night fighters) - Lacquered Coffins might be the way to go. It tracks speed and altitude with 2 dice on the base of an aircraft, and is dead simple to play, no custom cards or flight stands required.

Also how that fuck are people posting with these new Captcha's....

Lol, Empireaboo mad as per usual. Newsflash Gordo, the good guys do always win and the bad guys do always lose, it's a fairytale in space. By the way, I don't mock you because you like the Empire, the Empire are cool, I mock you because you *don't* like the Empire, you're just too much of a fucking coward to collect WW2 Nazi armies like so you obviously want to.
>>
>>97262215
I don't get your schizo rant
My point is you need the villains to be a fucking threat to make victories look important. If the Empire always loses then it makes them a total fucking joke and the OT becomes pointless cause the Rebels would have won anyways. It's why George made the Empire win various times in the OT: they take over the Tantive, they successfully kill Ben, they win all throughout ESB and both Yavin and Endor are barely victories with tons of Rebel casualties. Lucas knew how to make the Empire threatening, Henry doesn't
This is the exact same thing we all complained about with TCW, the Republic always wins and the CIS always loses which makes the war a fucking joke.
>>
>>97262208

No I'm not. I meet up with a group of men weekly, where I am directed by a rotund gentleman to mathematically determine the most likely actions of a fictional woman borne of asexual dream alchemy. I do this, not for pleasure, but because this make believe woman needs a cosmic puppeteer, dammit. I am her guardian angel, not the lace-bedecked beauty herself. Not the chocolate skinned brewer of bubbly farts (not my fetish. Hers. I am not her). I merely let her walk the streets of my hometown clad in my flesh, that is, in turn, clad in as close an approximation of her imagined outfit as I can bungle together. I am not her.

Trench Raiding With The Lads Edition

>What is Trench Crusade?
An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.

>What Trench Crusade is not
TC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic.

>What's the QRD on the background?
The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.

Which is fair enough, I’m a chud and I also didn’t want to see the spergier members of my community spilling the spaghetti everywhere.
Where Arch comes in is that he’s been on a one-handed crusade to try to destroy TC ever since. He took that shit personally, which is a petty and childish reaction, and his faggot followers have been following his lead ever since.

During my cringey HS/college Tumblr days I used to play male characters because I always said I was a gay man in a woman's body.

Now it's like a 50/50 split.
>>
>>97259127
I'm a dude but my playgroup is 4 women and 2 men, and only one of the women hasn't played a male character at one point or another. One of them has played almost exclusively male characters.

The thing they actually won't do is GM. Me and the other man have played less characters, because one of us is typically GMing, but we've both only played men also in the games we have been in, although I'm considering a female PC for an upcoming campaign (I don't like evil/scumbag characters and the next one is apparently going to work best with mercenary, money-focused PCs, so I'm leaning toward an orphanage matron who has taken up thieves guild work to fund the institution. Feels more natural for the PC to be a woman. Still a human though, I'm not a freak.).

So anyways, the women in our group run cross gender PCs way more than the men.

People call decks "Slop" when they are all about long and convoluted combo sequences mixing multiples engines that happen to have synergy together rather than all coming from a same archetype or archetypes formally related. For instance, White Forest is cannot be considered slop despite playing a fair amount of Azamina, Sinful Spoils and Diabell cards because those cards are all part of the same lore.
