Without thinking about it, entirely subconsciously, you are trained by Pathfinder and D&D to safeguard your players. You are taught to coddle them! And when does this subconscious teaching happen? Not in ANY dungeon master resource. It happens before your first adventure, before your very first D20 roll.

It happens when you create characters.

In Pathfinder, character creation takes a ridiculous amount of time. I ran it for about six years, and I saw it take well over an hour, sometimes going up to two for new players. As a GM who understood the system inside and out, I could get it done in about a half hour.

Losing a character in a game with such a painstaking character creation process is absolutely devastating. As a GM, you wonder if that person will bother to make a new character, or if they will just leave, and if they do, who will go with them? Will you even have a game afterwards?

And enemy statblocks are the same way. You look at these massive text blocks that include three different saving throws, the type of hit dice, types and sub-types of creature, and perhaps most hilariously unnecessary, ALL SIX STATS. Who on earth looks at all that and dares think “I’ll make some monsters of my own!”

Please understand, I’m not saying nobody makes their own monsters. I’m saying that it is an undertaking to make a monster with a statblock like that. Figuring out saves, stats, and heaven forbid you want to get CR correct, good luck with testing out that garbage.

Wrong, character creation can take less than 5min including writing it in a character sheet, it's the character design process that is time consuming in those games. Nothing prevents the GM to prepare ahead of time multiple character templates with pre-packaged options (and equipment) ready to go if the game in question is made to be a grinder of sort.

In short you're making an intellectual dishonest argument for your case and, by such, i can safely discard it as whole. Nigger.

Do you have a group that insists on playing D&D, but can't agree on any other edition? Then 5e works fine.
It's also ideal if you want hundreds of homebrew splatbooks to sift through, because it's very easy to homebrew for.
>>
>>97216366
>>97216620
The ability to generate shitposts was greatly aided by one of the players making these little icons for most of the characters that showed up in the campaign. He'd just dash them off on his drawing tablet after I described the character.

>>
>>97216604
It's at least as easy to homebrew for as 3.5, with a core system that's slightly less prone to snapping in half. That's not to say it's as well-balanced a game as it could be, nor that it can't be broken if you set your mind to it, but it's at least a bit less of a headache.
>>
>>97216604
5e has amazing third party support because it’s so popular. 5.5e is generally better although worse in some ways like ability scores being tied to background.

My city's first Premodern monthly ran today with 10 players. I went 2-2 with this hastily assembled UW Flippi list - I was running late hence some numbers look weird
0-2 Moneyball black
2-0 Flinker
0-2 FEB - I misplayed because of format knowledge, naming wrong with Meddling Mage, in G1 then mulled a 7 and 6 that I probably could've kept in game 2
2-1 Sligh
My losses were to 1st and 2nd place respectively so I scammed my way into 3rd place.

Wasn't meant to help make it more acceptable. I was actually trying to point out something the writer of Shield Hero likely noticed about one of the genre's tropes. Slavery in Isekai is often treated more as adopting a pet you could potentially have sex with rather than a serious social injustice.

>>97215784

Which is why the Shield Hero web novel is identifiable as a deconstruction while the manga and anime verge more toward standard isekais with an edgy protagonist. Most "fans" of the series don't really get as far as the New Seven Deadly Sins arc which shows just how messed up the MC's actions are.

One of the most prominent ones is the Silver Hand. Started as a "revange plot" against the ruling noble family of the biggest kingdom in the world, with a desire to kill the major members and their supporters. Over time, its members have found some shady shit that is connected to stuff like godhood and also the nature of other world and demons. Nowadays, it has several different 'sects' that have various goals and try to work together, somewhat.
They are also very prominent in alchemical and technological fields. One of their most infamous sub-organizations are alchemically-infused elite murderhobos that have little to no restraint. Other than that, their main power is them having a lot of money and influence.
Named after a punishment performed against thieves and bandits.

Moloch's Fun Park Edition

>What is Trench Crusade?
An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.

>What Trench Crusade is not
TC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic.

>What's the QRD on the background?
The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.

Not really when the shovel is more expensive than the basic melee weapons and you can't mix it with a shield since shields always take up 1 hand thus not allowing you to make a 2-handed melee attack with the shovel.

Where is my state-mandated DMG?
>>
>>97216469
I think there's no reason not to play into them, ending your turn early is a guaranteed loss, trying to make your full board at least has a chance of winning anyway depending on what they draw.
If it's game 1 and you don't know what your opponent's on they might be on some really jank deck that could draw 30 cards and still not break your board. Some decks don't even benefit from resolving one all that much and still run them because their opponent will fumble and misplay the instant a mulcharmy activates, which is to say that in a lot of cases there's nothing for them to even draw into, they're just bluffing that letting them draw is dangerous.
>>
>>97215775
Hope you found em cheap, good luck.
>>
>>97216469
Since the Mulcharmies are area specific, you generally have two strats:
>Play around the zones that let them draw cards
Some decks are able to put up a decent partial board while giving the opponent few to no draws.

>Full Send
If they draw enough cards, they are going to have to randomly shuffle some back. Get some Nibiru protection up in case they draw into it, and then just go all in.
>>
>>97216469
Play combo lines that end on 1-3 draws and 2-4 interactions and supplement with your non-engine.
There's some decks that can just blatantly disrespect the Mulcharmy like Lunalight because most decks can't out 2 Liger Dancers + Bagooska with their entire deck in their hand before sideboarding.

So, this is my current draft of the standard Githwarrior, the basic trooper for the Githyanki Raiders army. What price in terms of points per model would you feel is fair for this? Are there any scores you would adjust?

Githwarrior (Fighter)
Points: 15
Movement: 4
Weapon Skill: 4
Ballistic Skill: 2
Strength: 3
Toughness: 4
Wounds: 1
Initiative: 4
Attacks: 1
Leadership: 9

BS of two seems unnecessarily low even if they don't have a ranged attack, usually only untrained morons have that

Heavy armor is +5, but otherwise seems appropriate

Silver Swords are usually reserved for knights and leaders only

Githwarriors are usually shown carrying a basic two handed sword (great weapon)

Too lazy right now to math out whether the points cost makes complete sense, if it ends up being too low I would either give them a second attack and/or bump WS to 5. The Old World version of the Chaos Warrior seems to be the closest equivalent to what I outlined above and they are 15 points with a great weapon
