What are some fantasy and sci-fi movies you should watch to inspire your games and players?
>>97350230>>97350589Consider this:They cut the entire original approved movies list, just because. Took monumental edit war and eventually a DDoS to make them reconsider. So considerting the level of damage anticipated and how it ended, I say it's workable.2d4 meanwhile started out as 1:1 repository, but then the dumb fuck who set it up went with a machete across the pages, slashing whatever he felt like it, and openly saying that fuck keeping old shit, time to update.Which is why 2d4 is now run by Korean spam bots, I guess

Crusader Miniatures Byzantines are very small, more like true 25mm, so are the Old Glory 25mm range.Fireforge are actually the best, plastic of course: serviceable. They did cavalry after the Spearmen and Auxiliary Infantry (Archers, Javelinmen) boxes and the Cav boxes are better sculpts overall. You could also kit-bash the FF Mongol Lt Cav into Steppe Lt. Cav (Pechenegs, Cumans, etc.) with a bit of work; great horses in that kit. For some reason Byzantines of every period are vastly underrepresented in every scale.

Necromancy Edition>What is Trench Crusade? An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.>What Trench Crusade is notTC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic.>What's the QRD on the background? The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.>How do I get started? All the files are free online:https://www.trenchcrusade.com/rules/Comment too long. >>97362391Honestly they might be served by taking a page from Kingdom Death in campaign. It's like WW1 movies where there's a break in action only for tanks or artillery to show up, but instead it's the warband trying to rest and recover only for boss demon to show up.
>>97362391The carcass front stuff they announced sounds pretty good honestly You need to start small, otherwise it'll scare off a lot of players All I really want is fluffy stuff specific factions can do Like if you're playing again black grail, a model killed during the game joins their warband as a thrall on an injury roll of 1

>>97360221>>97360251>>97362234Fair points, I definitely felt like I was under-equipped and under-manned but I really wanted that second shrine. What's your theory for why all the talent is leaving Leder Games? What’s your worst/best board game break up story?
>>97363015Base game Root sucks too to be completely fair. The Riverfolk Company should have been the 4th faction. Also they fucked up when they removed unique game win conditions and replaced it with a race to 30 points instead.

>>97362582I like a lot of things. Most of the Exalt types are cool. I think a lot of factions are based on really cool concepts. Sorcery is dope and so is MA and Crafting (in theory). Having incredible powers is great and so is being the heir to a superhero legacy. It's just a lot of their "Elitist Jerk" stuff falls flat for me. It doesn't feel good, it just doesn't get any simpler than that. The Great Curse just doesn't feel good for instance
>>97362732I think the incessant negativity is good because it takes that energy to make the game better. Let the dissatisfaction boil over and then turn it into something better. The problem with the threads as they are is that it can't get to that part as there's always a guy saying shit like you can't dislike a part of the game because some book quote justifies it, and it becomes an argument. That part is the negativity I don't like, complaining about the game is good.
>>97362804You'd have to be outright delusional to look at /exg/ and think that the negativity here is a good thing, or that people telling other people to stop disliking the game is the problem here. Negativity can be good, sure. It can be constructive. That's not the kind of negativity we have going on, though. Negativity here is stale and pointless, with same complaints and arguments repeating ad nauseam, with few new ideas or fresh perspectives. There is neither energy nor inspiration here.
>>97337961You've sparked my curiosity. How, exactly?
>>97362770>The Great Curse just doesn't feel good for instanceThe problem is that without the Great Curse most players won't sabotage their characters like a classical hero has their tragic flaws, Achilles with his refusal to fight over a slave girl, Heracles and his cursed rages, Karna giving away his magical artifacts, Alexander and his pride, etc. And one of the points of Exalted is to make larger than life heroes with great feats and horrible flaws, but I feel like people make characters, myself included, too small in scope to properly be like those heroes. The problem lies in implementing The Great Curse in a way that makes people not resent it or forget it exists, which is difficult.
