Well, in which case i agree with him, not that isn't feasible but kinda unrealistic to expect. They main issue in that case is that the GM-in-the-making tackling gurps will have in his hands a bigass modular system with little to no guidance on how to build a game with, conversely something like d&d is presented as-is as already full-rounded for the specific task (that one may argue to be good or not at but still).

To be more precise it's an issue more specific of gurps 4e, the 3e basic set offered more guidance in designing games, including a full adventure and even a solo one.

I have this weird idea that Fiasco could make for a good crash-course if you hacked it together with a ruleslite system.

The structure itself is scene based, and the game only gets two scenes per player (you could mess with this number probably).
It's GMless, so the most senior player can teach by example what a player's order of operation would look like (rotating GM might be better than GMless.)
It has players taking on NPC controls when their PCs aren't present, making them get in more than one character's headspace. (you could make the players stat them as PCs as practice)
In Fiasco it's a given that PCs will have better and worse endings, teach them that their characters will just lose sometimes.
You'd want a simplish system with quick-and-smooth character creation.

Now that it's typed out I realize I'm just advocating for high-paced troupe play and low-prep systems.

It still isn't really clear about whether a PPW can be used as a normal Melee/Sidearm weapon. They are weapons as per their rules, but they have the special rule to be able to be used in addition to other weapons during close combat. This FAQ really didn't clarify any of that and just poorly conveyed that when being used as PPW for extra attacks that it is just one attack with that PPW profile. Going off the actual Power Pack trait they are still a weapon and thus eligible for normal use, but it can also be used in addition to other weapons. If this wasn't the intent then it would be 'must/only' not 'can' in regards to usage.

Linghao is very well equipped to see her for what she is. He wouldn't hold it against her, the situation is not her fault and not wanting to stand out after that is natural. Of course getting her to believe him is a different story, he is known to not be the best with words and he doesn't have the truth oath on his side unlike his father. He would try to help her if she needs, but pretending to be harmless is a valid evolutionary tactic so he thinks she's doing fine on that front. In the end they are both part of this strange family, running away from it won't work, he already tried.

Another reason I see is there's probably a pretty big correlation between people who are into the concept of deep lore (and thus want to include it in their setting) and people who are into /x/ stuff (and thus are probably aware of Gnostic stuff and think it's some extra cool secret knowledge they'll be extremely original for ripping off)

If you exclude major religions, gnosticism is usually the only real world mystic tradition that many people know of. So again it's easy to use to convey ideas without having to explain everything.

Perhaps I should have mentioned it previously, but my plan from the start was to have two suns (binary star system). The rotation of these stars would certainly cause more tidal action than our real life sun, and would generate cycles/measurements and culture for the various peoples on the planet. Would this "save" the setting in your eyes, or would you prefer more? I've been considering having a visible, but thin ring around the planet as well (too big of a ring or too many would make nights brighter than Earth due to light refraction).

That works for me. I think the main concern I was having is a setting that's far away enough from player world experience to be relatable. Humans have been deeply influenced by astrological observation so cutting out a significant part of that has challenges. I think your ideas would fill in close enough and pose some interesting effects on the game world.
