Tabletop RPGs tend to split up crafting into a high number of crafting subskills for every individual area of expertise. There's no question that crafting is still extremely powerful despite forcing you to go through this hassle, but what are your thoughts on which particular crafting subskills tend to be the most useful in the context of a TTRPG campaign, be it a medieval or modern or sci-fi setting?

Pic related is from Legend of the Five Rings, where I'll be playing a crafter soon, and I intend to invest heavily into crafting. But feel free to talk about any game you've had experience with.

That's how it originally was. The BL gave sacrifice and worship to the gods only because they were fucked otherwise, but personally hated the position they were in. They routinely crossed the god they were previously making offering go to be in better graces with the god they needed to get cozy next. They were also the only legion to figure out how to get out of possession, even if it left the body warped and mutated. Basically, they were the minmaxers of Chaos.

The point is, they're all wrong and deluded. The gods exist whether you believe them or not. All of the rest is cope.
The real-life explanation is that actual religious fanatics would probably come off as really disturbing. Even the Word-Bearers are very transactional in their worship, they do it to get bennies.
If they were like Muslims, that would probably be too far even by grim, dark standards.

I mostly agree with this, but I do want to acknowledge the powercurve of 2e in general. Low-level feats are just that, low-level. They are meant to be more practical or lowkey then character defining. And this applies to the Mythic system as well, you aren't going to expect a power to scale like Aerial Assault if its not a distinct spell or class power.
2e can be pretty No Fun Allowed but I think there has to be more a middleground between "oi you god a loicense to be cool tuday!?" and "free 10d6 goomba stomp every round".

That's just a true statement, I am very certain a point was to make sure you can't. By default, a "full-round action" to move in 2e is far more freeing, if less multiplicative than a full Run/Charge in 1e. But I also think neither game was ever trying to be Exalted, there are diminishing returns to high degrees of athleticism on both player and GM. You can only make a mountain so high, especially for the one person that builds for it in your campaign. And unless you houserule how move actions work to work like they do in D&D5e, you not only waste all your additional movement as you can't skirmish, you lose out on other full-round actions.

Nothing in 2e is supposed to be as easy to accomplish in 1e. Either it is meant to be more an investment to compensate for the streamlining of core systems, or not applicable at all because they are two different games and have two different balancing points.

On a normal roll, 7-9 is one success and 10 is two successes, which is to say that by default 10s are doubled. Having double 9s means that rolling a 9 or 10 counts as two successes, double 8s means that rolling 8s through to 10s counts as two successes, and double 7s means that rolling 7 through to 10 counts as two successes each.

By default, if you roll ten dice and score one of each number 1-10, you score five successes (7 8 9 = 3, 10 = 5). If you have double 7s you would score eight successes. This is also about how the averages work, so if you're assigning difficulties to an action keep in mind that by default it takes someone with twice the number of dice as the Difficulty to succeed about 60% of the time. Six dice is likely to meet Difficulty 3, ten dice has about a 60% chance of meeting Difficulty 5, and so on. With double 7s those same six dice are likely to meet Difficulty 5, and ten dice are likely to beat Difficulty 7.

After playing both the original Shandalar and the 2016 update version I've come to the conclusion that magic was just more fun in 1995 when it was more loose and relaxed. The kinds of decks you go up against in the 2016 version are so much more ruthless about shutting down every play you make that the only way to compete is to be an even more obnoxious dickhead and make sure they never get a chance to do anything. Every victory was bitter and spiteful in a way that I never felt with the older simpler Magic cards.

Power creep on cards isn't the problem, as other Anons have pointed out there have always been powerful cards and combos. There are cards that are banned in every format for being too powerful, and they tend to be incredibly old ones. A powerful card is negligible, on its own. There will always be other cards that completely wall it, or prevent it from being played in the first place. The problem is that it isn't just a powerful card thrown in to a deck full of janky rubbish, like it was in the old days, it's a carefully optimised and streamlined deck where every card is powerful, versatile, and synergistic. This problem doesn't even really have anything to do with how powerful the individual cards are, it's a result of vastly increased availability of information. As soon as a set releases, the community knows every card in it. The best minds in the community come up with the best decks, and then everyone else plays those decks. There's no room for an individual player to discover something original, or for a localised metagame to develop based on the cards you and your friends discovered in your limited amount of pack opening. The way we as gamers approach games of all kinds has fundamentally changed since those times, and the only way to properly recapture the feeling of early MtG would be to make a new game that couldn't be datamined or theorycrafted to oblivion.

If you'd allow it for yourself, purchase dogs or wardogs. The main problem you're going to face early on is action economy, so if you can use dogs to soak up damage and make multiple attacks from your side each turn, that would help. Just be mindful of morale.
