>>97400350I played the shit out of the 3.5 psionics back in the day. It's definitely more balance than the core magic system, and it is way more balanced than 3.0 psionics. I agree, the attack/defense modes from 3.0 are really cool and flavorful. If you want that in your 3.5 psionics, look into Hyperconcious:Explorations into Psionics. It's by the same guy who did the 3.0 and 3.5 books, and it's basically an unofficial expansion of the 3.5 rules. It has an options to bring back psionic combat.
>>97401475>I agree, the attack/defense modes from 3.0 are really cool and flavorfulI can see threads of what they were going for>You don't know exactly what attack is coming when you pick a defense mode>So partly it's feeling out the enemy>Partly it's rewarding IC knowledge or OC mastery by knowing what attacks enemies will have>What mode they use tells you what disciplines they haveBut the guessing game / knowledge reward stuff is at odds with the attack and defense mode costs varying between 1 and 9 for attacks, 1 and 5 for defenses, and the way they key off five ability scores so you're probably just using your one attack mode forever.Either have it be a spending/bidding sort of minigame where you're guessing how big a spend the other guy risked and therefore how large a defense to use, or make them have similar costs and be a knowledge / luck check. Also the fact that all psions learn five at lv1 and have learned the rest by lv11 means there's not much decision-making to do.It's like they have several competing ideas at once.Comment too long. Presumably because of all the fucking werewolves making living here somewhat complex. If they have no reason to seek you out, you often won't notice they're even there. And if you ever find yourself on the bad end of my cousins? Avoid water and thick groves.>Easily done. The caern proper isn't quite safe to make dens in, the soil is alive and not very happy if you dig at it, but there's plenty options nearby. No doubt, all the land is alive but it usually doesn't make itself known. Then again, I'm the odd one who always asks before I 'Dig.'>Whatever compliments your Malk gave were well-appreciated.She's sweeter than she has any right to be.Come nightfall we should meet-up. Promise I won't sneak up and scare you. I'll leave the ball in your court. For reference, 'H0T_G4R0U3S' is a Koldunist with a variant of the Way of Earth, lacking offensive abilities in exchange for better utility. It was how she persisted in de-jure Garou country for decades. Also has a broad skill in native languages around the great lakes, and if she gets flustered the maratime accent comes out. Mèo-Mèo on the other hand is an open book for influences and is always low key under the influence of Haunting. Thick Hooser accent and can be pretty brutal if need be. If you need anything just ask, but the leads are yours to do with as you want.
>>97402725>No doubt, all the land is alive but it usually doesn't make itself known. God, it can't fucking stop making itself be known here. Way north from the caern there's some other abandoned or semi-active ones, weaker ones, with what seems to be a living mountain walking whenever it's foggy enough. Steer clear of that place. >Come nightfall we should meet-up. Promise I won't sneak up and scare you.Aw, and here I hoped for a true Gang experience. See you soon.Gotcha. H0T and Meo are going to be meeting Lavender and HSE as their immediate guides. Lavender's outwardly a pasty twink, ballet dancer build, looks mostly normal, discounting his still dyed, because he's yet to figure out it's a HSE ploy, hair and an a whole lot of Lichtenberg figures on his skin. HSE's a shortie freak combining goth and a witch aesthetics because she thinks it's funny, and because the huge boots and hat give her a bigger presence. Lavender's practically brimming with Levinbolt, HSE's got a hodgepodge of various seer-y enough Thaumaturgic paths, plus artifacts and rite tools. Turn her upside down and shake and it'll rain charms, bones, little blood vials and shit like that. Their auras have slight abnormal tidbits to them, not much at all, but it's faint little traces, fitting their niches; even patterns in HSE's, sharp, jagged streaks in LL's. Hard to see them, even, it's something you have to actively seek to spot. The 'chantry' compound is more or less an old, recently rebuilt manor, in no small part still fucked with bold old damage and very fresh. It's clearly meant for a lot more people than there'd be - four Tremere, counting LL and HSE, and several ghouls. Some rooms might be hidden with typical old Tremere tricks or just only accessible if you can swim through the earth. The other two Tremere are other LL/HSE siblings, with different, less fun Thaumaturgic niches. The compound's some distance away from the caern.
>>97403439H0T and Meo actually got a decent chance at figuring out what's up. On top of Meo's Malk stuff, the eyepatch can let H0T see ghosts with relative ease, and there'll also be some scattered ghosts of some exceptionally upset, recently-deceased kinfolk. They were part of a large, multi-tribe, Toreador elder-manipulated war party that attacked the manor during the Week of Nightmares and basically got slaughtered, even if they killed LL's sire and razed the manor. Their gripe is that they died in droves, got used by a leech, and don't even get to be laid to rest properly; H0T can prolly help them by getting their scattered remains out of the soil and burying them right, that might give her some info. All in all the ghosts are haunting the woods and the manor, and at least some of them will be willing to talk in Great Lake languages, being from there. Overall, the ghosts will hint towards that the caern used to be Croatan property, its patron spirits greatly miss the chosen custodians of the caern, and the ghosts are convinced the spirits are tormented by captivity vampires enforce upon them. Only, they're not actually tormented - that one will take more effort and time to figure out, but with some spirit-chatting practices and Malk tricks, H0T and Meo would be able to spot Incarnae Spirit claws deep in every Tremere in the sorta-chantry. They've all got non-Wyrm Spirits wanting something of them, being metaphysically connected to them, as a result of the dead Sire's fuckery. LL's tied-spirit is Thunderbird, hence his thunder obsession and it manifesting before him to scare the shit out of him - it's testing him the way it would a Garou. The Tremere don't notice it, having been mentally and magically conditioned out of it, and HSE's the most aware, while still denied the option to put it all together. Your call how much, and how, Meo and H0T figure out; the Tremere are mentally blocked from connecting the dots, they're of little use.

Why do elves look down on humans so much?
>>97403135Pathfinder 1e
>>97403062Hard not to look down on a species yours remembers as shit wallowing cave dwellers. Imagine if humans were in that position and IRL there was a younger sapient species trying to live for itself or even one that looked up to us. All humans would do is dunk on them for every reason under the sun or just try to exterminate them entirely. Only a few outliers would embrace them, just like elves in fiction.
>>97403497>or just try to exterminate them entirelyElves are much more classy and benevolent about this
>>97403497This is a pretty common reason in a wide variety of fantasy settings, games, and stories.>We lived for thousands of years and mastered art, music, magic, and everything else while your people were still figuring out "fire" and "pointy stick">Aren't you so cute, pretending to be our equals now that you've figured out clothing and language and metalwork?>Okay, you short-lived mud people are getting pretty uppity just because you've started "industrializing" We are not equals! It's cliched, and personally I don't like the idea that immortality, or near-immortality, means total stagnation and lazy arrogance. If anything, having people live long enough to witness the outcomes of centuries worth of mistakes and incorrect assumptions would make Elves extremely dangerous. However, lazy arrogant elves are the tried and true cliche that most fall back on.

I'm a GM looking for three to four players for a house ruled game of warhammer fantasy roleplay. The game is meant to run weekly on Saturdays at 3 p.m (GMT-3) for 3 to 4 hours with small breaks in between. The game will be hosted through Roll20 and dicord vc. You need to have a decent mic and be willing to communicate between sessions to coordinate and sort out game stuff. I don't intend this to be a pay to play game, but if people feel like helping footing the bill for a hosting service we can use Foundry as the VTT.The game takes place in the city of Ubersreik in the year 2512 of the imperial calendar during the occupation by the Reikland state army. If any of this sounds good to you leave your discord tag so I can pm you for further details and a small interview.

>>97388146If we're taking the easy way (victorian era): steampunk is a thing, while it generally is more an aesthetical small part of the whole. Per se it's a very shallow premise, mind you, is't more or less like using togas for a scifi setting. Togas are cool, but if you want to do space Rome that's... not enough. Even something like Blades in the Dark with ferocious class divide is a step in the right direction.Gothic setting proper would be both more difficult and easier. Easier: WOD is arguably already THE gothic setting of RPGs, even if the system doesn't strike me as doing good service to the core themes (interestingly, for all their trappings vampires are less gothic than shit like werewolves, changelings and of course prometheans). Harder: people would probably like 1800s and even 1700s scenery, so castles, cemeteries, innocent maidens, classical monsters and all that "basket of things that were overused when motherfucking Dracula came out". And that's probably not the hardest, mind you: gothic fiction is all about transgressing the boundaries of society. Are we gonna use THEIR boundaries (which to us now seem at very best charitably silly) or OUR boundaries?

I think the OPs only problem is that the thread is presenting this guy as a campaign main villain instead of a side villain that is still important to deal with.Otherwise, the way the OP’s premise is structured is the best way I’ve seen on /tg/ to posit a game system agnostic hypothetical that easily dodges the “my setting/game setting doesn’t do that/this is above or below my setting/system” contrarian fags that would rather complain in a thread not meant for them rather than just ignore the thread entirely.

>>97403349Cathay in the game has male and female only units, which ties into the harmony mechanic. All your regular warriors and stuff are dudes, but everything firearm related (crane gunners, the dragon shotguns, grenade throwers, ...) has female models. I think in the fluff the moon empress was involved with gunpowder or whatever, so they became associated with femininity and Yin, in-gamd (iirc). It seems like gw hasn't really bothered with all that and made both regular and firearms related units mixed gender. Although I think the new peasant might be all male I don't remember.
>>97403388>which ties into the harmony mechanic.I thought it doesnt exist.
>>97403401I'm talking about the TW games, since the op specified he didn't know how they handled cathay there

>>97402525GW also released the marauders as all European paint scheme instead of doing the regular forced diversity in their other systems. I think we will be ok, considering they have called us the historical setting. Also using AI to write questions for you is shameful.
