>>97404001>>97404062I've been thinking about this, and I think I've come up with a pretty good list of the worst classic boardgames.I want to be clear about my definition of a classic boardgame: it is a game that is published, widely played and considered a classic in the hobby, at least at the time of writing. The game does not have to be a bestseller or anything like that. The list includes games I own and games I've played. My criteria for judging a game are:1. It has to be a real classic boardgame.2. It has to be fun and entertaining to play.Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>97403924I wouldn't recommend it, but just say the setting is comedy, and every part of it is harping on some tropes of classic popular fiction. There's an ironic fairy tales country, a spoopy horror country, an autistic asian country, and so on. The central city-state is struck somewhere between high fantasy and noir fiction - but it's all a bunch of jokes in the end. It's not -quite- what you would call kitchen sink, though, there has to be a point to everything. You know the character you wanted to play in another game, but you thought the joke was too embarassing? A nun with nun-chucks? She fits right in - and she is really embarassed about herself.>>97403987You could have raised a legitimate point, like how the anglican-atheist opinions of the author influence the world and the tone, which is easy to have a problem with, but no, you resort to buzzwords.
>>97405197>creative works are influenced by the author's viewpoints and experiencesUnbelievable insight.
>>97403924The problem with running a Discworld game is that it requires you to actually be funny. And actually being funny is hard.
Post examples of real world dungeons, labyrinths, caves, and sewers.
>>97404832>>97405096@grok, populate these images with goblins (stabby little murder dude kind, not fat green porn elf kind)
>>97404832Unsure of the sauce of picrel but look up the stepwells in India, Paris catacombs, and the Knossos palace in Greece.
I haven't found a group to try this idea with yet but I thought it'd be neat to do a kind of Vietnam War dungeon crawl in a VC tunnel complex using The Fall of Delta Green. It'd start out as a normal tunnel rats clearance and get stranger and more cthulu-horrifying the deeper the tunnel rats got into the tunnel

>>97405212it's mostly some small details like the stitching on the skin and tubing, and probably some bits under the armor i need to double-check, but thanks anon!
>>97403971This, there's way more people that like normal dwarves and also fyreslayers than people that like fyreslayers but not normal dwarves. Khazalid holds will let existing fyreslayer players run their armys while bringing in way more new people. They'll keep them in the battle tome for another 2-5 years, slowly dropping unit after unit from the tome until only the magmadroth and maybe the vulkites remain. >>97404036KO is reasonably popular and is far and away too different to work with a low tech faction like fyreslayers.Khazalid holds will be the simpler fantasy dwarves+gyrocopters and KO will remain distinct as the steampunk faction.

Necromancy Edition>What is Trench Crusade? An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.>What Trench Crusade is notTC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic.>What's the QRD on the background? The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.>How do I get started? All the files are free online:https://www.trenchcrusade.com/rules/Comment too long. >>97403988I would capitalize on alchemical ammo if you can find the points.I've had stupidly good luck with alch ammo on my captain, and azebs can make for a powerful, cheap shooting core with it.Drop the armor from the alchemist, and use regular grenades because he can make err'thing fire. Why the mountain kits on azebs, rather than the alchemist or captain?
>>97404035I was experimenting with painting my azebs in groups of two and painted each different colors. So i mainly wanted some reason to differentiate them. I assumed shrapnel stacked with fire, if not why is incendiary grenades their signature weapon to begin with?
Stats on Zutt infantry?
>>97404913The Sultanate simply cannot stop them from penetrating their rear defenses
>>97404256Shrapnel can stack with fire. But fire grenades don't have either the shrapnel or blast keywords, making them worse than normal grenades or gas grenades except in niche cases. They're overcosted to disincentivize crit fishing against units that have a ton of armor.

>>97404427>that Katia from PREQUELThat's an Elder Scrolls series, she's a Khajiit.
>>97403925They're fun to play, but yeah, they don't really get a lot of love from WotC.They tend to focus more on major Wizards and high rank Drow in most of their content when you really look at it.
>>97404985My character concepts amplifying on either of the class options went a bit like this. You guys can maybe say again which do you prefer based on them:>If SorcererPC has been born with just about every advantage you could imagine short of being royalty. The family is not quite nobility, but at some point an ancestor got into bed with a Brass dragon (I'm particularly a fan of Brass ones since they're so personable and social), and the next generations used the magic gift to start a small fortune which then grew through careful investing and starting a trading company. With time, the family stopped bothering with these arcane gifts, focusing instead more on the mercantile world and forming a trade empire, where their magic is little more than a small trick to subtly "entice" hesitating clients and partners and possibly defend themselves if the bodyguards fail. They enrolled the PC into university with full expectations that he'd pursue a career that'd help expand the family business into other ventures (his older brother is already taking after the main branch). But PC is actually much more interested in exploring his arcane potential and just living carefree. He didn't just fail at university, he tried several times with different classes before finally concluding he doesn't really get motivated for anything his family will actually pay for. In the end he falls off, ashamed of having failed his family, and one day in trying to make up for it by manipulating a mysterious client with magic, gets entangled into the aforementioned espionage plot, messes with the wrong people, and only manages to protect his family by hiding his connection to them and leaving town.PC's motivation becomes to protect his family, find his place in the world either following in family's footsteps or going his own way, and clear his name.
>>97405256>If BardBasically the same story up to enrolling in university minus the Brass dragon backstory. He was actually doing perfectly fine at university. However, he got into trouble when he started a dispute with another student, which spiraled out of control until it resulted in an accidental death. His salvation came from one of the teachers, who revealed to him that he was secretly part of the city's intelligence service, taking the position of teacher to scout potential recruits. He explains it'd be a shame if such a talented young man threw his future away over a hotheaded mistake and offers him a trial run to become a spy for the city. I have to admit the "fall off uni because he accidentally killed another student" point was lifted wholesale off Gotrek and Felix, I had no idea what other excuse justified getting expelled if he was a good student that a spy would consider recruiting. The mission is successful in the end, however, it went wrong regardless. Everyone else in the group died in action, except for PC. PC reports back, but has his own suspicions, as this was a very shady situation and he's on a need to know basis. The agency more or less tells him to go take a hike with those suspicions, literally. His next task will be to get into a traveling group (the party) and going over to a bordering rival nation. This is equal parts a more free form mission to allow him recovery from the stress of losing every partner in the previous mission, to have him keep refining his abilities, and to gather information on this rival nation by ingratiating himself with local notables by whatever means necessary (aka. doing quests).PC's motivation becomes to get over the recently acquired trauma of being a murderer and losing a whole squad, deciding whether he wants to become a full fledged secret agent, and if not then figure out how to avoid the dirt they have on him affecting his family.
>the next BBEG in your campaign is a coomer that goes around kidnapping and mind controlling women for his harem, and literally that’s it.Does your party even care? Does your setting/game system even care? Assume that the BBEG is an adequate challenge and difficulty for your setting and party (whether it’s Exalted or DND or Rogue Trader or whatever, and the villain is always the right difficulty level for your party whether you’re lvl 1 or lvl 20 or a weenie or a Solar, the scale is perfect).Basically is this guy a problem you and your crew would want to fix in whatever game you’re playing. If he isn’t, what would it take to make him be a problem? A bigger bounty or reward? A personal friend that got turned into a harem slave?
>>97402169You could flavor it however you want. Use Radiant Idol as the template. A good one might not go after women of influence and instead save the doomed and incorporate them: sick wives, damsels in distress, lame beggars and whores. His charming aura might be making them compliant, but his intention is improving their lives and humanity in general. An evil one might take those he deems as the best stock, using flat out domination magic to enrapture them and purloin them for his self centered utopia.
>>97402719have you considered that we could use less system agnostic survey threads
>>97403318Maybe, but those other guys format theirs in a stupid way that invite criticism or teardown. The only thing that can be criticized in this OP is the actual taste of the faggot original poster with his shitty magical realm. The way he asked people to engage it is actually pretty cool.
>>97392676>the next BBEG in your campaign is a coomer that goes around kidnapping and mind controlling women for his harem, and literally that’s it.This takes me back. I once did a game where the Dark Lord won and the world was this futuristic Samurai Jack kind of thing with the party being heroes stranded in the future. Only he wasn't just a mind control fetishist, he actually conquered known space and drove all the fantasy races to extinction so 'Earth' was now full of ayys. It was a pretty fun campaign, with the PCs having to take on fallen heroes and cannibalistic redshirts with paladins having to face off against battle mecha. >>97392705Yeah, this is a fetish thread.

>>97403439H0T and Meo actually got a decent chance at figuring out what's up. On top of Meo's Malk stuff, the eyepatch can let H0T see ghosts with relative ease, and there'll also be some scattered ghosts of some exceptionally upset, recently-deceased kinfolk. They were part of a large, multi-tribe, Toreador elder-manipulated war party that attacked the manor during the Week of Nightmares and basically got slaughtered, even if they killed LL's sire and razed the manor. Their gripe is that they died in droves, got used by a leech, and don't even get to be laid to rest properly; H0T can prolly help them by getting their scattered remains out of the soil and burying them right, that might give her some info. All in all the ghosts are haunting the woods and the manor, and at least some of them will be willing to talk in Great Lake languages, being from there. Overall, the ghosts will hint towards that the caern used to be Croatan property, its patron spirits greatly miss the chosen custodians of the caern, and the ghosts are convinced the spirits are tormented by captivity vampires enforce upon them. Only, they're not actually tormented - that one will take more effort and time to figure out, but with some spirit-chatting practices and Malk tricks, H0T and Meo would be able to spot Incarnae Spirit claws deep in every Tremere in the sorta-chantry. They've all got non-Wyrm Spirits wanting something of them, being metaphysically connected to them, as a result of the dead Sire's fuckery. LL's tied-spirit is Thunderbird, hence his thunder obsession and it manifesting before him to scare the shit out of him - it's testing him the way it would a Garou. The Tremere don't notice it, having been mentally and magically conditioned out of it, and HSE's the most aware, while still denied the option to put it all together. Your call how much, and how, Meo and H0T figure out; the Tremere are mentally blocked from connecting the dots, they're of little use.
