I did , and that wasn't a zinger, that was me explaining the joke in >>97392957 because it seemed like you needed it.
>>
>>97405793
>I did
That's a little worrying, since you seem to have completely misunderstood the conversation. Or maybe you just don't know Ciaphas Cain's deal, which is fair. He's like a Harry Flashman type set in the Warhammer universe. While widely acclaimed as being a bold hero, he is an inveterate coward who accidentally saves the day in the process of trying to weasel out of or outright flee his current circumstances.
>>
>>97405877
>spoiler
Yeah, I'll readily admit I'm a 40k secondary, my man, I only know bits and pieces and silly memes
>>
>>97405364
>>97405877
That's kind of an exaggeration too. He's not the total selfless perfect hero he's made out to be in the Imperial propaganda but he's also not the spineless coward he thinks he is either, he's a genuine badass who more than anything just has a complex about not living up to the unrealistic expectations of what a hero is supposed to be. The stories are also all private memoirs written way after the fact (as much as 70+ years) and not accurate tellings of events, and they're notably being written after he wrote a glossed up propaganda version so there's a good chance he's overcompensating.

Anyway, going back to the thing that started it, he shoots at the enemies in pretty much every encounter, unless doing so would be genuinely retarded and suicidal. He often claims it's just so he looks like he's doing something but that's open to a lot of interpretation.

Chosen of Masks (Shalrina)
most greater masks are timeless/immortal. mask of Herself ages/dies normally, so shalrina will attempt to keep it away from exalt; when dead, shalrina can reclaim the mask Exaltation & offer it to a mortal in exchange for a mask of their identity, "Her/His/whateverself". fate unspecified if she dies
Bleak Warden Exigent
The-Darkness-that-Binds claims he'll live forever but he's got gray streaks prematurely; when he dies the exaltation returns to the nameless prison, & goes to the mortal that solves it's seal trials

Liminals
Lifespan varies widely. physically they need to drown in running water or be decapitated/head destroyed to permanently die. but not having their touchstone human also leads to rapid rot.; ends with death

damn, those trees must be gigantic to have the space to grow food to feed more than a million people.
>>
>>97405766
Chanta, the capital, is composed of hundreds of redwoods, and each of them are, at least, 30ft in diameter which makes all of close as big or bigger than biggest one we recorded on Earth. And they stretch wooden platforms between them, so they have the vertical and horizontal space for the population.
>>
>>97404159
I'd disagree. Exigents are the only ones of the new Exalts that feel like Exalted and can actually fit the setting pretty painlessly. Getimians and Liminals are the real problems.

1. What system are you running where AoE roll to hit?
2. Why does a trained warrior only have 1 hp?

>what do I do?
You can literally give him whatever stats you want along with a knighthood by the King and his own lands to go with the title. It's impossible to suggest how to tie him into the story when we don't know the story.

Probably the cold doesn’t help, get a heat belt for your vat. Also don’t trust the stock Trench Crusade supports, they aren’t very good. Use your unsupported versions and watch this video:

>NEET / work part-time for years
>run multiple games and constantly have ideas for new ones
>become full-time wagie
>rapidly lose energy and enthusiasm for running games
>turn 30, become NEET again
>think that I will recover my creative drive
>4 months in and I still feel like it's empty inside my mind
It's like I was born with a set amount of soulful creative energy and I used it all up. I don't know what to do anymore. I'm going back to school and the local game store will actually pay you to be a DM, so I was thinking of running an open-table west marches game there but I just don't have energy or creativity to do that. I'm already running a couple of campaigns but only maybe once a month.

Is this how it's gonna be for the rest of my life? How do I break out of this?

much better to get really good at something specific and disappear into a WFH job. I've probably made $20k over the years doing session prep when I was technically supposed to be working
>>
>>97404559
Any time someone talks about "wagecucking," they are depressed. Work on your diet, read books, work out, go on walks, stick to a schedule, make sure you're getting enough sleep. You aren't a super special snowflake, there are plenty of people who work full time or more and still manage to come up with shit and run games.
>>
>>97405158
Indeed, I would argue that even thinking about it in terms of 'wagecucking' is setting yourself up for depression, because you've inherently treated having a job as some kind of defeat state.
I've been doing my job at various companies for 16 years, but I have high satisfaction with it because I like what I do. If you can find a job that you don't just tolerate, but find comfortable or satisfying to do? You'll have a much happier life.

For example, resteraunt workers almost always report low job satisfaction. Its a high stress, high turnover job where you have to get it right every time but nothing you make lasts. You can make and serve the dish 99 time in a row perfectly and never get thanked, but if you mes it up once you'll never hear the end of it and at the end of the day you're just exhausted from trying to keep everyone else happy but you don't have anything tangible to show for it.
Meanwhile, construction workers tend to report high job satisfaction. Because they take pride in being able to point to the building they made and say "I did that". Even if its hard worker, the tangible results of it make it feel more worth it.
>>
>>97405082
Correct post here, OP. Pay attention to this man.
>>
>>97404745
>You just constantly had new ideas? Didn't pluck them from anywhere or get inspiration from anything?
I did get inspiration but often I couldn't tell where it was from. I still go on hikes, walks, still look at new art and watch things. But there was this spark inside me and 5 years of 5 hours a night sleep and factory wagecucking feels like it demolished what creative talent I used to have. Not "talent" like it was anything special, but sufficient to be a good GM and come up with original campaigns that weren't just rehashing some video game or movie.

>>97404868
>What you are asking for and what you are saying you want to do with it are on opposite ends you can't have both without serious work ethic which you clearly lack.
What do you mean? In terms of the games, I used to run that amount of sessions all the time. I would run 2 different campaigns in the same day, back to back. We'd play one in the early afternoon, then switch to another when our friend got off work in the evening. One was superheroes, the other was D&D-esque. I did this for years.

>>97404945
I live with my parents now.

>>97405082
>Especially if you consider NEET-dom to be a step up.
It absolutely is, compared to where I was before. I'm changing to a new career hopefully that will be better.

Welcome to /un0/, an RP thread for playing a World of Darkness/Chronicles of Darkness Hunter. For any OOC questions about WoD/CofD, check the official general. >>97224887

Rules:
>We are acephale. There is no storyteller, we are not a quest.
>This thread is based primarily but not exclusively in the nWoD/CofD game Hunter: the Vigil. However, Vigil is defined by being highly setting agnostic, with a system for creating entirely custom monsters that do not exist in other WoD/CofD games. Thus, you have significant freedom in what you want to play and what you want to hunt. Feel free to play a member of the Society of Leopold, or a member of the Lucifuge hot on the tail of a Lasombra.
>Namefagging is encouraged but by no means mandatory.
>Keep in mind that even highly experienced Hunters typically only have fractured pieces of the puzzle, and every table has their own canon. The night is dark and full of misinformation.
>/un0/ is conceived of as an experimental end to end encrypted program that is very hard to compromise, retains very little data and purges that data regularly. Please play an actual Hunter.
>Spoiler any OOC discussion.

Happy hunting.
Unless this thread somehow takes off like a rocket, this will be the last un0 thread for the foreseeable future. Towards the end of the thread, please give your feedback in regard to these shorter, limited run RP threads.

Smart philosophy. Better than most.
>>
>>97401355
Define "proper precautions". Am I going to hand a loaded gun to someone I just met while trying to exorcise a poltergeist? No. Am I going to make a potential future hunter sit in a cell for a month just to make sure he isn't a ghoul? Also no. You have to be good at reading people, but there's this... I don't know what to call it. Look people get in their eye when they have what it takes. When you've rushed to the scene of an attack and see someone bloodied, holding on to a tire iron, ready to keep swinging until they die. When you're looking into the death of a local and you find their spouse with that sleepless look hitting up all the leads you are. You can just tell when someone is hunter material. Lastly, we take risks by the very virtue of being a hunter. I am not going to let the valid fear of infiltrators prevent me from taking a chance on a fresh hunter. Because, let's be honest here, a rookie hunter with no prior experience and no back-up is gonna wind up dead nine times out of ten.

As for misunderstanding, that's simple. It's thinking vampires are just risen corpses, without a soul and maybe piloted by a demon. Lotta hunters like to think in that "I can't kill a corpse" kind of way because it's convenient. But the ugly truth is, they're still the same person they were before someone turned them. Same memories, same personality, albeit a little warped by the hunger. Now at the end of the day they still need to suck our blood to sustain themselves, so they have to be dealt with, because you can't exactly put a bloodsucker on trial. But don't let convenient lies make you forget that sometimes, what you're hunting is or was a person.

I return with another monster folklore inquiry for you all. Giants.

Nearly every, if not every culture I am aware of has some sort of Giant myth. How closely they resemble humans is... variable. Though they show a concerning throughline of eating human beings for food. Another interesting and perhaps validating bit of mythology is the common trait of red hair. Now, one must note this is hardly exclusive, but it very curiously appears in native North American, specifically the United States and Canada primarily, folklore. Despite those peoples not having red hair. Tales of red-headed cannibal giants were as far afield as modern-day California, meaning that this could not simply be a game of telephone concerning Leif Erikson's ill-fated Vinland colony.

What do you believe the truth to be concerning giants, historical and current? For while I would believe their size, dietary habits, and seeming lack of supernatural powers beyond impossible stature and strength to all but demand their extinction, there are claims of their existence as recent as 2002, during the United States occupation of Afghanistan. A picture depicting which I have used for the attached image.

holy shit there is so much AI generated Giant/Nephilim art. Relative to the other monsters it was shocking.
>>
>>97405173
I'd leave enchanced interrogation for all the freaks out there, God knows most of them deserve it. I wouldn't approach someone with an offer to join us without watching them for a while, seeing how they're conducting themselves, who they meet, who they know, looking into their past and stuff like that. It gives you a good idea of what kind of person they are and helps with avoiding unwanted guests. Once that's done you'd reveal yourself to the target, making sure they think it's only you. You tell them how it is and see if they're willing to come with you. Proper security is key to staying around and continuing the fight. I'm no seasoned mentor, it ain't easy. I'm the one responsible for making sure my trainee doesn't get killed in the near future while also having to keep a close eye on them. There's a couple of things I still need to look into. Training rookies is a noble thing and I'm glad someone is out there doing that. Still, we need to remember that not everyone has the makings of a worthy hunter. Sometimes your fellow man can be the worst enemy you'll ever face.
>>
>>97405284
I'd reckon that there might be a handful of them hiding out in the middle of nowhere backwaters like the aforementioned Afghanistan. If they really were engaging cannibalism, what we did to them was deserved. I'd be curious to know more specifics. Are they really just big, hungry people? If so why eat us, there's better meat a giant'd have an easier time getting.

>>97405301
When someone's world comes crashing down, I can't see them taking being shadowed well. Hard to build the sort of trust hunters need that way, you're liable to get shot out of justified paranoia. Maybe you and I live in places with very different cultures, but the Morpheus routine would just cause distrust among people around where I live.

Make no mistake, I'm not dropping my guard around random people. Not enough caution will get you killed. Too much caution keeps us divided and unable to tackle the big problems. We really need that numbers advantage. My lineage has long prided itself with being a sort of "go-between" for local hunters. Not just recruiting new people but serving as a well-established neutral party for hunters that have, shall we say, differences in philosophies.

Eskimo isn't strictly a slur, nor is it a specific tribe, it was the european term for all the various natives in and around the arctic. It derives from Cree ayashkimew, which via french turned to esquimaux. Most of those peoples today prefer to be called Inuit, as it just means people in the eskaleut languages. It's an exonym vs endonym conversation.

Do we already know how fixed the loadout of the sororitaas are? 10 operative team? i really like the shield/sword but wish they also had polearms like the Celestia Sacresantis. 40k has to little nice polearms overall, i really like the spear of the leader in particular.

>Black Legion no longer hard into Chaos worship, Abaddon sees himself as not a slave and is disdainful of the religious
>Iron Warriors see relying on the Dark Gods as a weakness
>Night Lords are edgy atheists
>Emperor's Children don't care about Slaanesh specifically really, are just concerned with pleasuring themselves and being freaky. Fabius actively hates Chaos
>Thousand Sons hate Tzeentch for fucking them and try to fuck him over when they can
>Alpha Legion retconned to basically never having been religious at all
>World Eaters are crazy and barely verbal anymore
>Red Corsairs see relying on Dark Gods as weak and now have a whole cadre of troops that are "free" of Chaos influence
>Only Word Bearers and Death Guard seem to actually venerate the Chaos Gods
Why are so few CSM actually religious anymore? Back in the day even your average Alpha Legion boy would be all FOR THE DARK GODS

The mental retardation that led them to doing so is really just more fun imo. Remember this is a setting where everyone is a complete dumbass with the exception of a few stand outs.

none of the chaos gods want anything good for you though
most religions irl teach that if bad shit happens to you it's just a test or something and ultimately you will be rewarded
the ultimate reward for 99% of chaos worshipers is getting tortured forever in super hell until your soul is snuffed out

Seeing what gnomes are like in Dungeonsoup's universe. I'm curious what he did to get them to bukkake his sword.

They probably did it for shits and grins.

Chair guy ruined Wormdahl's chance at impressing the Succubus, but he still brought him outta the basement. He's not so bad.

Welcome to /wbg/, the official thread for the discussion of in-progress settings for traditional games.

Here is where you go to present and develop the details of your worlds such as lore, factions, magic and ecosystems. You can also post maps for your settings, as well as any relevant art (either created by you or used as inspiration for your work). Please remember that dialogue is what keeps the thread alive, so don't be afraid of giving someone feedback or post whatever relevant input you might have!

Kessler Syndrome only applies for orbit, and you're making the mistake of assuming any political leaders that are willing to send thousands of men to their deaths will care about future threats to satellites.

Nothing can stop war. It's a universal phenomenon.

>Kessler Syndrome only applies for orbit
Yes, but there isn't strategic or practical value in militarizing past orbit. Resources from space aren't economically practical to bring to Earth and militarizing further away doesn't confer strategic benefit to combat on Earth. The most you would maybe see is combat on Mars between Martians if we ever got permanent colonization going there and that's not really space warfare.
>you're making the mistake of assuming any political leaders that are willing to send thousands of men to their deaths will care about future threats to satellites.
To the contrary, I am assuming future political leaders will absolutely fuck up our satellites in the future. Hopefully after I'm dead.

>Even today we're dealing with a slow but steady population collapse, and safe, convient, cheap, easily avaible contraception turning having a kid into a choice surely played a big part in that.
For most of the world for most of human history, having children was an investment in your business and a retirement plan. Still is in a lot of places. Also, I fucking assure your plenty of populations have had knowledge of both contraception and abortifactients while still maintaining population growth.

The shit driving down birth rates are women's rights, child labor laws, high cost of childcare/living, social atomization, socialized retirement plans, destigmatization of childlessness, etc.

This is what planet-mania does to your brain. The real resources aren't in planets, they're in asteroids.

It's that which nations will fight over, not mere planets.
