>>97817662Every Son has access to different powers, minions, gifts, etc. Entropy Heralds, for example, are likely either very rare, or unique to the player - since True Resurrection is very rare and valuable throughout the multiverse, a Son that can summon millions (or more) of minions that can use True Resurrection is unlikely. In addition, Gifts are not only unique for the Son, but most Sons have far fewer options and total number of gifts, so they are more inclined to pick generalists. If you only had 1 GP, you'd probably pick a Falista or Alta-like gift over a Nida.Phylacteries are a decent parallel - almost every Son has access to them in some way, Liches can make them and they're relatively common in the multiverse, and they're preventative instead of a 'fix'. As a result, they're less valuable than True Resurrection, even though superficially they do the same thing (keep someone from being dead).
I'm going to put ultimate god on hold to focus on a futa-centric classic empire builder. All men in the setting will be traps be default and it will have heavy handed political undertones. The ruling class will be huge but beautiful futa women and there will be at least 3 pages dedicated to choosing your political dogma and relations.

>>97818567>>97818038It's definitely something I would like to see them revisit. I would love anything that helps slow the game down. It's just kind of boring when it's seeing who gets their combo off fastest and usually winning when you do.The Aprils Fools joke is fun

Is there ANY miniature wargame that isn't insanely expensive? I'm talking about things you can buy in a box and play immediately, not "print your own minis" bullshit or things where you're forced to use proxies cause official models don't exist.

>>97817532They already summarized all of the changes and they're a lot less than what's been changed between Compendium and now. They didn't remove an entire phase of the game, for one.Although honestly, I don't know anyone who is actually going to use this new core book thing since it only has the BSP rules for non-mechs. Everyone's going to wait for the actual full rules.
>>97816722>I have no standards: the Post
>>97816576Oh no, at 10,000 you would never be able to bring more than a Star. A Kit Fox with a green pilot (3/4) is something in the range of 1500. Five Kit Foxes will of course effortlessly crush a Freebirth assault lance, but this is to my point: Not a whole lot of miniatures. Elementals, maybe, you could round it out with Elementals.
>>97817200They demonstrably aren't technogically stagnant and that's evident in how their model kits have changed over time. Also "technology" isn't a magic incantation that can be invoked to resolve problems arbitrarily, their issues are that their existing infrastructure was scaled for a much smaller market, but the market massively expanded in the last 10 years, the fix for that is not mystical "technology" its scaling up production to meet demand, that means buying more or renting more warehouse space, buying more injection molding machines and building new factories, which they have been doing.A subset of their supply issues that actually dies relate to technology are metal and resin models. When Horus Heresy second edition came out various resin units were out of stock for 6+ months because resin casting is extremely time and labor intensive, similarly about 2 months after TOW came out GW put up a shitload of job postings for metal and resin casters, the increase in demand for resin and metal models that had previously been mostly the purview of games like necromunda and MESBG caused those games to have half their resin/metal ranges become unavailable. What are they doing to resolve this problem? Remaking models from those ranges as plastic kits, because its cheaper and faster. Why did they not do that sooner? Previously the sales of the kits in those materials wouldn't have justified the cost of making them in plastic. The whole issue is just that they need capacity Also we know what it would look like if bandai made warhammer because they made warhammer.

How the fuck are the Lord of the Rings wargame minis still getting made? Those movies were 20 years ago.
>>97811922>(still not as good as the books)After having heard that Tolkien wrote the hobby as a sort of bedime story for his son, I got the audiobooks and had a great time painting fantasy stuff with them for background. LOTR really was made to be told, not just read.
>>97805321You can't be that hard on them if you remember that they started playing the game in like 2017 (after it was ruined). They never got to experience GOOD 40k. >>97809693>They're MTG fans who pivoted for views. That makes SO much fucking sense. Their severe "old bad new good" skew with everything from sculpts to balance changes / wanting even faster rules update churn than the absurd speed we currently have speaks to a MTG mindset of "fix the current fucked meta with the new set!" of every CCG out there.
>>97817866>old bad new goodThis is why I like them though.
>Those movies were 20 years ago. They regularly sell Tolkien books at my workplace next to bibles and reprinted classics and copies of the constitution or art of war. Not just Tolkien, but Middle-Earth encyclopedias.Tolkien is unironically arguably a part of western culture at this point, or respected on a literary standard
>>9780522625* years for Fellowship. The movie trilogy is legitimately so good and in the sweet spot of coming out before Cinematic Universe slop, but after the booming rise of CGI getting good. It remains epic, influential, with legendary behind the scenes moments, and a common entry point for getting into movies, fantasy, storytelling, reading, or games in this case.It also doesn't hurt that Tolkien is almost more influential to modern books than Shakespeare. The actual game is okay. I think there is enough of a collector/player base that just buys a couple of minis every once in a while to keep things going, and the upkeeping the contract with a release like 1-4 times a year is lucrative in comparison to letting the contrast expire.

>>97817802I like the idea of presealed packs being on the line when you play against someone. That is kinda like competitive PVE, which is an itch that isn't being scratched in the current favored co-op card game design.
>>97817809Sealed is fucked because of coalition, probably makes cube a requirement to enjoy balanced limited. If you're buying a box to flesh out your collection then it all works out in the end, but the randomization is faction stacked so you get entire packs of "play this faction."

Where do I even put this on the alignmen chart? There's collectivist angle allowing "all people" to pursue their dreams, which is pretty Lawful. But also dependence on slave labor (drugged out of their mind to stay content and compliant), which seems pretty Evil.Or is ensuring the working class doesn't suffer kind enough to shift towards Neutral?Assuming high fantasy, not mudcore where the peasants make over 90% of the population.

To repost from last thread...>>97805726>>97802916>>97807836I've been digging more though feats and well, found Crossbow Expert. the 2024 version kinda stinks (Instead of the BA attack, it's free TWF fighting style with Light crossbows) and the free hand crossbow shot is kinda seen as OP... so part of me is thinking why not give it the same treatment that Polemaster had, just make the damage dice a d4 but also allow any type of crossbow to use it. It is a extra shot, but it's low damage no matter the weapon used.------Crossbow Expert (Rewritten)Ability Score Increase. Increase your Dexterity score by 1, to a maximum of 20.Ignore Loading. Well its April 1st again. I return first of all to remember one of /tg/'s finest works: Dungeons the Dragoning 40,000 7th edition. Last year I gave the game a revision, stapling both books together so it could rival a phonebook. This year I have more DtD news: 8th edition is on the way. If you want to try out 7th edition before then though the book is in the same spot as always: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/2/folders/1HTYsfwiIWlGg4UZb5Bi32PYgTxKHUIp8There's also links to a place where you can wait for updates on a playtest. Otherwise, I'll just drop it all in the folder when its done. Happy April Fools.
Hell yeah, this game has been my autistic obsession since like 2017, happy to see it getting updates
