▶What is Kingdom Death?
Kingdom Death is a tabletop miniature brand stared by Adam Poots and operated by himself and his Team that later spun off into a miniature based bored game funded by two very successful Kickstarter campaigns.

▶What is Kingdom Death: Monster?
Monster is a Nightmare Horror cooperative boss battler/miniature hobby game for 1-4 players about hope in a strange world of bizarre monstrosities and perpetually darkness. Players take on the role of survivors that band together to form a settlement, fighting monsters, crafting weapons and gear, and developing their civilization to ensure survival from generation to generation.

Prologue Narration: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNLc8dHv0Ac

The Game is broken up into 3 phases:
1. During your Hunt Phase your band of survivors traverse the world of KD in pursuit of their quarry.
2. After successfully tracking your quarry you will begin the Showdown Phase, where you must fell these horrific creatures in order to acquire precious resources.
3. After the battle, your survivors wander home with loot in hand to begin the Settlement Phase. Arm yourself by developing new weapons and bizarre structures to prepare for next year's hunt.

>I never really saw the need to hunt for lv2
more risk = more fun

It's not rocket science. Even if the rewards weren't commensurate, it's still nice having a more engaging fight.
>>
>>97404299
Also proper armour set for EACH survivor feels like a bit overkill. They don't all have to survive. A few deaths after you get the society principle is fine if they are redshirts.
>>
>>97404310
Not him, but I personally dont do it because it makes exp growth 2x faster, meaning less use out of a good survivor (barring immortal, flower, ect). If they just kept the 1 fight = 1 age exp, id go after 2s and 3s way more. As it stands, 2 random resources you may not need, for half the life span of all survivors present is not a good trade
>>
>>97404652
Well I mean you're always more likely to be using current survivors less than future children, simply because of innovations that power up future survivors. And it's not like weapon proficiencies are super rare later once you are able to pass that down to children too.

It can’t just be about the money because during the TSR era they shoved all the artists like Brom into one room and made them work for peanuts.
24 replies and 5 images omitted. Click here to view.
>>
>>97404222
I liked 4e era art and 5e era isn't terrible when it's not being turbo-gay, but they never reach the heights of OP. And there was a lot of TSR era stuff that was just jank and garbage.
>>
>>97402122
No, it's about the money. Back in the day they were prepared to pay Elmore and Parkinson for full scale oil paintings to photoduplicate onto modules, calendars, Dragon covers, you name it. That costs massive money, but they made it back (initially, before they fucked up the 2e release schedule) with a broad margin because the economics of publishing were like that in those days. The money they pay artists for some digital sloppa nowadays isn't even close, I'd be surprised if it were even within two orders of magnitude for each individual piece.
>>
>>97402926
AD&D2e was before I was born but I like the art way more. Even the shitty art was more interesting.
>b-but you must have seen AD&D stuff when young
no, I grew up playing D&D3e, and only saw earlier editions once I was disgusted with 4e.
And I bet most here will agree that 2e art is generally more interesting of all editions.
>>
>>97404544
Sure the big names got money, but DiTerlizzi was given Planescape when he could barely afford art supplies. I doubt they paid him close to what Elmore was getting.
>>
>>97402328
What I disliked most about 4e art was that 90% of the images were of characters brandishing a weapon or engaged in combat.

Wraith-of-the-Woods (Blessed Isle forest god)
unknown lifespan, has lived 4 centuries; unknown incarnation
Sovereign Exigents
unknown centuries. the first 1 was murdered 6 months before CURRENT YEAR and lived at least 330yrs. tend to age faster than other exalts but slower than mortals; ends in death. new exalts from those who can withstand the fount of glories and emerge unscathed/unbroken. the royals of uluiru strictly limit who has access but so far no limit has been found
>Koan Bee Grand Champion Tier
Chosen of Silken Vesper (Divine Visions)
unknown centuries, age is hard to pinpoint; in death can speak a riddle that reincarnates exaltation into the first solver
>How's that for a Cleanser Tier
Thousand Venoms Mistress Exigent
several centuries; koro bana can distill exalt's remains into a poison that reincarnates exaltation into first survivor. fate unspecified if koro bana dies

Honestly, it's the fault of naming the whole gameline after Exalts. Now there's no real way to sell any splat without it being some kind of Exalt, thus continuously diminishing the wonder and uniqueness of Exaltation.

It's kinda like Cultivationslop where it's said that every major stage above Mortal is "one-in-ten-thousand", but that never matters because every named character needs to be of that rare quality or they're irrelevant background chaff.
>>
>>97404650

Hafllings and Gnomes are a mistake. Hobbits were great in Tolkien and trash everywhere else.
Replace both races with all-purpose "beastfolk" (just small and cute) and it all works out.
