>stick to your guns and get no game
Literally never been an issue for me. Every game I run, I tell everyone I stopped caring in 2010, and Black Library is gay and non-canon, and people flock to me anyway.

>>97381536
I don't actually believe this post. I'm pretty sure you're just saying this to demoralize people for some reason.

>>97383983
Okay, now I'm completely sure you're lying.

This is a pretty good summary. I want to add, however, that the Imperium has a vested interest in letting the populace know about things like Space Marines and the Inquisition (so that people fear and revere them appropriately). The sisters less so, but the fact they wear the insignias of the Ecclesiarchy and spout holy scripture all day long probably makes it clear who they are if they show up - they don't really need stories about them. Nice to see people actually care about how information dissemination works in the Imperium, though. Last Dark Heresy campaign I was in, the feral world guardsman and the arbites beat cop were happily discussing the details of Necron gauss technology, and nobody batted an eyelash when the cog polisher-tier tech priest laid out the rights and privileges of a rogue trader.

>Actual loser mentality because what's the point of playing if you're not doing it with friends.
Personally, I'd like to make some friends by trawling the web for people who share my mindset... although my experience tells me that this is impossible for some reason. People would just rather apply to game after game after game and watch them crumble, rather than come together as a group and put in effort to build something actually good. Maybe it's the effort part, that they'd rather hold out hope that some day someone else will just do everything for them, or maybe they're so afraid of disappointment that they refuse to actually get invested in anything. Oh well. I have half a mind to offer to trade services, run somebody else's dream game for him if he does the same for me, but I'd probably just get some jackass to sting me for a one-shot and then disappear.
>>
>>97389029
It's a symptom of modern times. If you don't get instant gratification from a thing, don't waste effort, just try a new one! Food, games, romantic partners! Don't waste time and effort with something that doesn't work, just swap out until you find the perfect one! There's a million out there, and all the time in the world to find it!

You want more of that? Then you gotta go back to the well.

Inspiration will come from authors like Grim, Baum, Tolkien, Lewis, Shelly and Stoker if you’re feeling a bit ambitious. As well as pulling from war stories, and not just WWII.

You just can’t take inspiration from other Star Wars authors, otherwise it becomes a copy of a copy problem

That's just this entire board.

How would you humanize enemy mooks even if the players have to put them down at the end of day? How do you make it so that players leaving piles of corpses in their wake is not a trivial matter?

They say only Good can create, whereas Evil is sterile. Tolkien certainly does, with Morgoth being unable to make things himself, so perverts Elves to Orcs for his armies. But I think this gets it entirely backwards; it’s Good that just mutates and twists, and it’s Evil that teems with fecundity.
>>
>>97388951
>They say
That's actually a specific school of thought within christianity. I forget the name of the doctrine.
>it’s Good that just mutates and twists, and it’s Evil that teems with fecundity.
If we look to Antiquity before philosemitic moralfaggery began, the Indo-European views seem to align on the gods (ie. "order", rather than "good") transforming the existing matter (think of titans like Gaia, literally the earth, who is the source of many things we might call evil if we were so inclined), and the anti-gods (giants, ettins, etc., who are certainly antagonistic to both gods and men) devouring that which the gods create and returning it to its base matter. In essence, the gods (and with them, man) domesticate the savage nature and keep the natural forces of entropy at bay.
So that's certainy pretty close.
>>
>>97384224
If I want to humanize my mooks I have them not necessarily being killed when downed. I describe them screaming in pain, begging or praying as the life slowly leaves their bodies. If the players want to kill them they have to say that they execute the fallen. Every time. Now I don't always describe the suffering of downed enemies. After the first few sessions the players get the gist of it and automatically assume what is happening after a fight. It's pretty effective.

>Cyberpunk 2020 vs. Cyberpunk RED?
Cyberpunk 2020 is the second edition of the Cyberpunk TTRPG that focuses on simulation gameplay and has a black trenchcoat aesthetic.

Cyberpunk RED is the fourth edition of the Cyberpunk TTRPG that is set after Cyberpunk 2020 following the Fourth Corporate War, focuses on more balanced gameplay and is more streamlined but has less content.

You can discuss Shadowrun here too because I also feel bad for those guys.

Absolutely blessed session 0, good job choom.
>I like the screamsheet format for adventures, they give you a story framework but leave most of the work in the GM's hands
This is pretty much what I do, I just skim a gig and get inspired for something of my own design. For example for the extremely well-written Agents of Desire I changed the Saturday Night Butt Kickers final battle to the crew infiltrating a yakuza lair (I mean come on if the idea was that Ai's engram could be cloned and copied as a free AI slave forever I feel like a bigger player would get it, not a technobarbarian gang), or for A Night at the Opera I set up the evil vampires as a huge infective presence down to even some NCPD having vampyre fangs and indoctrinated into the masquerade. And like most ref's I read Reaping the Reaper and thought that this plot point deserves a lot more love and made Reaper and his cloned AI into a more persistent threat. Also I took the various Bozo jobs and it inspired me to make an entire campaign out of it.

>>

just don't include your own personal magical realm shit, or at least put it in sparingly for variety and have the focus elsewhere

I don't think you can even reach 100ft as a human monk even as a 20th level at all, fucking sure not permanent. Pf2e is anti cool acrobatic/athletic
>>
>>97388680
So I've actually discussed this before, and comparing 1e at its most athletic (just like with almost everything else about the system) makes 2e look like a paraplegic joke.

In the Mythic system for Pathfinder 1e, Champions have a Tier 1 ability called Aerial Assault. Basically, as a free baseline, it adds 10 ft. of height or distance per tier to ALL of your jumps, plus if you hit someone on the way down you got a bit of extra damage equal to the damage you would have normally taken from falling that height. So, when JUST taking this ability into account, a MR 10 character with this could theoretically leap up over 100 ft in a single bound for free, and if they wanted could get up to 10d6 extra damage if they jumped vertically in combat.

Now, let's compare that to the closest thing we have to its 2e equivalent: Feet that Stride the Sky. This is an Uncommon Mythic Feat 2 that has a Calling prerequisite, and says that if you SPEND A POINT, you get to make a High or Long Jump at Mythic proficiency. It tries to soften the blow by making it so that no matter what kind of jump you always use the easy flat Long Jump DC of 15, and you also get to double your movement speed, but it only lasts for one jump. It doesn't even remove the need for you to get at least a 10 ft running start first; and worse, it doesn't matter how fast your movement speed is. The most you're ever going to jump with a High Jump (even with the reduced DC) will be at most the predetermined 8 feet vertically and 10 feet horizontally listed on a crit success, so that extra movement speed I mentioned only matters for Long Jumps.
You get no bonus damage from the height, and most damningly of all? Paizo didn't even make a follow-up Mythic Feat to pair with this other than MAYBE Godspeed, which requires you to spend EVEN MORE of your limited points to get a piddly +10 to your movement speed for one whole minute.

When did Magic players get so delusional? The performative outrage about UB has got to be some of the most faggy outrage ive seen in this game. If you bought/played with any secret lair cards or LotR cards then you have no room to complain about the current trajectory, this is your fault.
If you are anti UB because they dont "fit" Mtgs setting, but purchased/played Neon Dynasty, Thunder Junction, Duskmourn, Aetherdrift, or Edge then you have no media literacy because they are all basicly UB sets without an IP attached.
Stop posting like UB is the death of magic, I remember when we thought Mythic rarity was going to be the end and now look at this bullshit. Its going to keep going on until people are done playing the game and move to something else, and theres not a single TCG right now that could take its place.

GURPS is a modular, adaptable system, capable of running a wide range of characters, settings, and play styles, with a level of detail varying from lightweight to completely autistic.
Optional rules allow you to emulate different genres with a single system, or even switch genres within a single game.

A nearly complete archive of GURPS books can be found by using the image. Never post direct links to the archive anywhere in plain text.

If you're wondering where to start:
- The Basic Set covers everything, including a lot of optional rules you probably won't use.
- A genre guide can be found in the archive, under Unofficial/GURPSgen. It tells you what extra books and articles you may find useful for many common genres.
- How To Be a GURPS GM is a good read even for players.
- GCS (gurpscharactersheet.com) is an excellent character-builder software, with page references to all the books and the option to export to both Foundry and Fantasy Grounds.

Thread question: what's the best classic GURPS cover art?
