Mass Effect 1 but you have to drive rbe Mako more often, except it's not Mako but your mech.
>>97413968I would assume there is a companion function where you can highlight a target and give orders, for infantry you've recruited that could be 'occupy building'So there would be options to do that, but where's the fun? I guess what I imagine would focus on a smaller lance size mercenary unit or a bounty hunter team where the characters have in and out of mech skills

Would this work as a Star Wars ship? I'm thinking something along the line of a bulk freighter or pre-clone-war era bulk cruiser up-armored and re-jiggered into a pocket carrier for outer rim operations for corporate sector outer rim operations (and later hijacked into the Rebel Alliance)

How are Orcs in Warmaster?
Anybody ever mixed stargrave 28mm minis with the previous cadians?I want to mix some of the stargrave scavenger rifle holding arms with cadian torsos to make necromunda ex-imperial guard hangers. Are the arms able to have a flush fit on cadian torsos? Not the current cadian torsos the ones before them.I managed to not be able to find pics of such conversions when I searched online.

>>97411474not a ton of direct experience running them, but one of my opponents has been an orc general forever and he loves them. their shtick is just "Low command, so take tons of characters to make sure orders get out", which some players love and drives others up a wall.
I was diving in the archives and discovered this thing that /tg/ made a long time ago. Catgirls + an underwater world. It looks like the project withered away and everyone involved left this board ten or so years ago. So, how was it? Did it ever get off the ground?
>>97410888Well it has good stress rules and is nice for survival focused games too. Deadly combat means just fast combat to me. Either side is defeated quick on good hits. If you fluff that as gruesome death or as a catgirl getting to high on catnip is up for interpretation.
>>97411567Actually, reading the SRD, you might be onto something. If I change the stress into something more comical (like the stress explosions in MAID), then this does work. I can work with this.
>>97411583Oh, stress explosion mechanics for the game sound interesting! Yeah, focus on that.
>>97411949Yeah I was thinking, instead of having Health and Resolve, maybe there is just Stress. The stress adds dice, and it accumulates. When you roll a bane on the stress dice, you explode. This basically means you are "broken" and while you can't do anything in terms of taking actions or rolling skill checks, you can still role play your stress explosion.idk, might be too ridiculous. Since you basically get stress endlessly, situations where players have infinite dice and never roll any banes could theoretically happen... but it just sounds really really funny.
It's gonna take a while before I can finish the whole book (at least a week I think) but I can at least bump the thread with a preview cover
Is there any game on the harder end of science fiction where the players can control various aspects of a space warship in combat that isn't miserable?
>>97411770You can have:>hard science fiction with miserable space combat>soft science fiction with fun space combatYou cannot have both due to the hard limitations that... well, hard science fiction brings to the table. You have to obey physics and realistic (hypothetical) space warfare and so on and so forth.
>>97414079Skill issue. It's a matter of narrative framing. Take this example from Babylon 5: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JXDwMRb8DOAIf you notice it, they don't even see each other with the naked eye. It's through camera trickery that makes you excited when in reality they are thousands of kilometres apart.
>>97414079would it really be miserable? Seems to me it'd be no different then peer-to-peer combat with a modern littorial ship.
>>97414111>>97411770https://youtu.be/n67rhlSnKIQ
The issue that arose wasn't more or less the combat, as there's at least something to work with there that a system or game could be used to make an equivalent for, it wad the fact the setting would need to be explained why there's space war.

>>97413279Flames of War somehow hilariously manages to shoot itself in the foot nonstop but still keeps trucking along. They are purely held up by Flames of War being 1 of the 2 WW2 miniature game that sells rules and miniatures but unlike bolt action their shit is smaller scale so you can take more stuff like tanks and people like that and Team Yankee being the only Cold War era game I have seen sell rules and miniatures ironic given that the entire range is out of stock permanently yet they keep making spin off games that nobody buys (seriously has anyone ever played the Israeli wars/Vietnam/WW1 games they made?). If they had any real competition that wasn't some british boomer selling his WW2 rulebook with a bunch of really ultra specific rules that bog down the game from a website straight out of 2002 with no miniatures sold to boot or without Warlord games also shooting themselves in the foot nonstop the company would have gone under during covid or during the FOW V4 fiasco.

How do players in your groups, including yourselves if you play rather than GM, react to authority figures in your games? Are they happy to play along and do what they're told, or do you find that they try to rebel against whoever's in charge of them at any opportunity?>Traditional Games? This is a thread about how players react to authority figures in tabletop roleplaying games, a type of traditional game.>You first. When STing Vampire the Masquerade for my group (last session was about a month ago, we went on hiatus for Christmas) I find that they really chafe whenever the Prince demands anything of them and they are almost more interested in dismantling the local Camarilla so that they no longer need to follow orders than they are in the jobs that the Prince gives them.>What system? In my case, the system is Vampire the Masquerade 20th Anniversary, but the question is system neutral.>What setting? In my case, the setting is the World of Darkness, but the question is setting neutral.>Post this in a general. This is a generic topic without any focus on any specific system or setting that has a general, therefore I do not think that there is an appropriate general for this thread.
>>97407123>Straight answer, or fuck off.You fuck off. I already gave a straight answer to that stupid question when I said I agree in the post you replied to.>>Nobody is under any obligation to give OP (You)s just because he posted a thread.>I agree, and I felt no obligation while I was posting an answer. He can feel all the entitlement he wants, doesn't mean it's a genuine entitlement. It doesn't matter if starting a thread implies an expectation of replies. He can expect replies all he wants, his post certainly invited replies, his post was a proximal cause of replies to his post which is stating a pointless truism, but OP is still under no obligation to reply to any posts anyone makes in the thread he started any more than anyone was under an obligation to make a reply or than I am under an obligation to reply to your angry little posts.
>>97394717Dependent on so many factors. The most common link in this is determining if any of the individual characters are the rebellious sort by default. Usually, these rebellious sorts don't immediately try to get one over on the authority figure, but push the limits a little bit. If the limit-pushing happens without incident, the players usually stay cooperative. If the limit-pushing results in pushback from the authority figure, the party generally makes a collective decision on whether continued obedience to the authority figure is a good idea. If it is decided that disobedience is just and proper, they usually attempt an immediate attack on said authority figure.I've rarely seen them attempt a longer betrayal of an authority figure than immediately attempting to kill them, and usually the would-be traitor gets distracted from his planning long enough for the authority figure to become irrelevant to them without any input on their part.
>>97411073>deflecting againYour concession is accepted.
>>97394717As a player I despise Omnipotent OP GMPCS and I actively try to kill them. As a forever GM I never add auch filth to my games. Authority figures as in "Local Lord's" and other Law & Order types are played realistically and non intrusively. So my players always RP as if actually their characters live in the world. I do enjoy raging a long with an NPC of my own in the party from time to time. In oDnD a part is usually around 20+ characters, each player controlling a main character and a few hired hands. Never railroad the game or expect player mutany.
>>97394717Highly depends on a character currently played and the authority figure in question, but generally most of the players I regularly play with don't needlessly antagonize them without a good reason, and often work for a powerful organization or person. Or create their own/become an authority figure if strong enough.>STing Vampire the Masquerade for my groupI remember a long V20 game I played a couple of years ago. The party soon became staunch supporters of the Prince, doing dirty and sensitive jobs and cementing his hold on the Domain. In turn, the coterie was lavishly rewarded with wealth, property, status, influence, permits for Embrace, access to Disciplines, etc. We also had few reasons to assume he was going to betray us in the foreseeable future, as my PC was the only non-Tremere Blood Sorcerer in the domain, and the Prince was politically threatened by local Tremere Chantry, one of the oldest and most powerful in the world.Though many other Kindred, mostly younger and more Anarch-leaning ones, feared and despised our PCs as his loyal attack dogs.
Ah yes, the magnificat. That grand new primaris organ which not only enhanced standard space marines, but conveniently corrected that rather irritating compatibility flaw they once suffered from.Cope however you like. After the femstodes precedent, this outcome is inevitable and you know it.

>>97413037I thought I-talians were garlic eaters. I remember that being a line in "It's a Wonderful Life."
Orcs take that role in my current game, they're more like sámi tribes than the igloo dwelling stereotype. There used to be large ice sheets covering the continent and the Orc was the dominant species until the ice slowly retreated, their culture and influence declining with it. There's a few permanent settlements and some they return to seasonally, other tribes are fully nomadic. The more northern tribes that live in permanently artic conditions will be more similar to northern american natives and utilize sled dogs, hunt seals and other polar creatures, live in yurts or igloos and in have their own religious practices. Not much of this will ever be relevant in the game I'm running so I don't plan on expanding it more than that unless a player wants their character to be one of those people.
>>97414017Italians are spaghetti eaters. French are frog eaters. Garlic eaters would be more of a general term for southern Europeans from countries like Spain, Italy, Yugoslavia, Greek and Turkey who came to northern Europe after the war.
>>97414161You also have Krauts and Limeys for the German and the British, but those terms have naval origins.
