>>97364164Honestly pretty ass. It's easy and better than nothing, but the company is truly horrific. And I stopped keeping up years ago but expect it only got worse. I also got banned once because we used to have a flames general and I kept larping as battlefront satirizing how pants on head greedy and stupid their idea was to make people wait 5 years to be able to play basic armies in their new edition, so jannies were mad af that their casual game was getting heatI can't imagine bothering with it when there's just so many other half decent (not lardies) games out there. But also that is a better question for HWG who might have other answers. I also used FOW minis for alt history awg stuff
>>97365499All I remember of it is that many casual games/tournaments devolved into tankspam lists.
>>97365530Yeah it was a shitshow because it was trying to be historical 40k and fell on its ass because of it. I did like the v4 cards and thought it streamlined what was a clunky game, but honestly, it attracted the worst kind of ahisotrical bullshit. You'd see photos of tank parking lots exploiting the rules. Just shit. I only liked to play casually where I could sprinkle in awg elements and minis. Ironically the games rules being so bad are why it is more of an awg because it sure as shit aint historical
We have all experienced the coming and going so GMs, Players and games; and then left holding the bag too start all over again at Square One. You could make your own if you wanted. Get some friends tell them we are playing the scenario/module. Then run it. Usually you being the person interested you should be the one to buy and read the starter set and GM/DM the scenario. Once done if people want to keep play go buy other campaigns/scenarios/modules (a campaign is just a really long scenario/module that takes many sessions to complete) maybe pick up the "Core" rule ok for whatever system you are playing.

>>97362049>Did the first iterations develop in such a way that revealed inherent structural weaknesses?yes in the sense that there was little structural development to speak of. the actual game design didn't occur until 2024ish.>but because I suck at maths, finding the sweet spot for bonuses and balancing stats for asymmetrical point values has been very hit and miss.i started by sorting them into tiers based on much immediate card advantage effects caused. if you know the ones that are clearly the most powerful and clearly the weakest, you can start to fill in a hierarchy and then adjust cost weights from there.for example picrel is the current weighting iteration of card effects in the game (as translated into card costs)
>>97362543Seems rational.Given the nature of my project I'm gonna need to build a similar sort of matrix, so I can cross-reference the value weight of different stats and bonuses when prototyping a unit.

I am currently painting up some random fan designs. I plan to get some Ral Partha soonish.
I'm pretty new to painting and chose Warcrow as the game to invest in. Wildly fun game but the models can be a pain in the ass to paint in my limited experience. Anyways I finished her finally. I'm new and just try to mimic the color pallet from official reference photos. I need to get better at highlighting but whenever I do it I think the model ends up looking worse. Should an elven wizard be more powerful on average than a human one? Explain your answer.
>>97364652Yeah really.
>>97357409Magic is learning spells until you can cast them without making mistakes. More times means more spells learned to a reliable degree. And if innate wizardly power can increase, like a muscle, then that would lead to elves being better wizards on average. The only thing that could feasibly hold them back would be if their magic has devolved into being purely for show, with few practical applications, like some martial arts.
>>97364746If that were the case, I would expect a lot more elf mages to be specialist casters since the older you get the more you lean into ingrained habits due to relying on tricks like muscle memory and rote memorization, as well as many more elven wizards to have magic related injuries due to how pushing your body to its limits tends to give you far more wear and tear issues
In my setting, Elves age at the same rate as the other races, while still being immortal, they just all fuck off to other places in search of power and glory once they hit a certain age. If can Elf can engage in interdimensional travel, they WILL fuck off to go do realpolitik in one of the various Elven Strongholds across the Multiverse. The only Elves in the Mortal Plane are the very young, and a few odd Exiles that are sent to live in the Mortal Plane as punishment, serving Penitence for this or that reason by taking charge of the Stewardship and Education of young Elves.Rather than being cautious, in order to protect their long lives, Elves in my setting are foolhardy, because they have an almost infinite amount of time to rest and heal from there wounds. If an Elf Swordsman loses a limb, he mostly suffers a loss of face and social standing; he can just take a few decades to study magic until he regenerate that limb, and than go back to practice his Swordsmanship. And basically every Elf has mastered some form of skilled trade, so they can earn a living while healing from dangerous work. For this reason, most other Races and Cultures hate Elves, but actually stamping them out would be difficult, because at any one time, there are like a half-dozen Elf Wizards hanging around that will just Black Hole any army that tries to engage in any meaningful Elf genocide.
>>97364609Would they even be fair to be playable at that point?

>>97365071The game was designed around campaigns. If you're playing one the standard points size for most missions is 750-1000, with a few 500-pointers (basically a cruiser or two and some escorts) and 1500s (full-on fleet). Scenarios are a lot more fun than just pitched fleet battles. They will teach you very quickly about proper squadroning and planning for your ships' momentum. A 1500-point game should last a couple hours, anything above that and there are some weaknesses in the system that start to slow you down.>tipsNo matter what you want to cram into your list, if you're an Imp ALWAYS buy a LD9 Admiral. He's absolutely game-changing. You should also try for an even mix of lances, batteries, torpedoes, etc. You'll want at least 4 launch bays per 1000 points (these give you fighter coverage against enemy torpedo/assault boat spam) and it's considered kind of shitty to bring more than about one Nova Cannon per 500 points. Once you get a feel for the tactics you like, you can start to specialize moreAlso, get some actual Order Dice and like 50 blast markers. Fighter/bomber/Assault boat markers are just 20mm bases with a topper on 'em, torpedo markers you'll need to print off and cut out. The rules have only used the one with three torpedoes on it since 2002. You'll need at least 2 of the Bearing Compass/Nova Cannon Blast Marker. There are both STLs and PDFs of all the counters readily-available>did zero researchDon't stress too much about it, we tend to be a forgiving lot. Check out the Warp Rift/Specialist Arms website. They've got downloadable versions of all the rules, with links to a *very* useful G-drive. If you catch my drift. It's effectively a continuation of the old Specialist Games forums. And if you're in the South Sound, I'm usually up for a game.
>>97364271>feel like it is straightforward from the get goNot as much as you'd think. Learn the assist system, it's fundamental and yet plenty of players refuse to heed it and allow their defensive lines to get unraveled by just some mildly smart positioning. If you get the vidya it can be a good kicking off point, it does a lot of the work for you in the background though so reading the rulebook is very recommended to understand exactly what's going on. I'm in an online league that runs off BB2 myself, that's a ruleset more similar to BB2016 but legendary edition gives you all the teams and goes cheap during sales.
>>97365071>>97365252BFG is quite interesting regarding army size and game duration. You got less units, but you got alot of weapons to fire. And there is a time when a squadron splits and suddenly the movements become units.
