Dedicated Drizzt Do'Urden EditionDiscuss and post elves. Elf lore, gameplay, and art are all appreciated.QOTT: What drove you to elves specifically?
>>97217575No but its common in fantasyslop that there is no real difference between fantasy races beyond superficial features. Unfortunately 99.99% of post-1991 fantasy is fantasyslop including whatever garbage you're consuming.
>>97221880>they're not common street walkers to be oogled at by their lessers.

So, not elves.
ITT: secret knowledge your party would kill for, either to get it, protect it, destroy it, hide it, whatevermaybe just playing delta green would scratch that hitch but I'd like to avoid intergalactic reality warping monsters and keep things tech noir / cyberpunk related because the setting is eclipse phase with nechronica and cowboy bebop shoehorned in but anything goes reallybtw the twist for my players is that they don't know they're onboard a generation ship but I'm looking for ideas to get them on a shitload of false leads kthxbye xoxoxoxo merryxmas & hppy new yr btwfuck this new captcha so much wtf
>>97222287Really?
>>97222329No, that's not how stem cells work, it's not as simple as just eating it.
>>97222334not with that attitude, in any case
>>97222260>they have no idea and it's of no relevanceThen why would you expect them to care? Why would they kill for this knowledge if it's of no relevance to them or anyone they've ever interacted with? It doesn't affect them and they can't do anything about it.
>>97223124I don't expect them to careIt's just something in the background for extra flavor that will probably lead to an 'oh shit' moment further down the road but what I'm asking here is for ways to divert their attention elsewhere for a little longer

>>97222999This is true, and I did this (>>97223303 And I would recommend it over 3d printing, there is a reason the actual product for this is also made the same way and not a plastic product). However I would genuinely just buy one if I had to get one again. They're like 10 dollars and it isn't worth the fuss of making one unless you're really trying to penny pinch.

How do you run an all dwarf campaign
>>97210535As in too tall?
>>97199654>I think I might run a short dwarf campaign>short
If scottish it too overplayed, what is a good accent for dwarves to have?
>>97223015scottish probably.
>>97223015I kind of like the thought of northern Italian dwarves. Think renaissance Italy but instead of city states you have dwarf holds. Medicis banking system is just the interhold banking clan now expanding to accept human deposits/accounts and this break in traditional exclusion causes a chain of events that leads to dwarfs now being in every major city across the continent. Or some crazy dwarf inventor goes too far and invents something destabilizing, like an automatic hammer which threatens the junior smithing and smelting guild positions leading to social unrest. Maybe the dwarf hold that mimics Venice just does Venetian things and therefore drives the entire campaign itself?I really like Italian renaissance dwarves.

Magic should be rare, mysterious, superstitious. It should take time to use and be exhausting to cast When did fantasy magic and wizards turn in Avatar the Last Airbender shooting fire and lightning out their assholes?
>>97217677Doesn't work well for tabletop RPGs, or rather requires tremendous effort on GMs side of things.Because for magic to actually deliver on the "mysterious" side of things it should be exceedingly weird and confusing. You, as a GM, would have to construct an exceedingly complex system of metaphysics and obfuscate it from the players. For there to be genuine mystery, there has to be substance, glimpses of larger workings, a feeling that there is some semblance to alien law/reason that still would completely elude the players minds. You as a DM basically have to make some odd Cultist Simulator magic system and keep it 90% hidden from the players, good fucking luck.So no, just making magic rare doesn't fucking cut it.
>>97217677If magic exists, and it's a natural phenomena, it should be common, spellcasting should be rare because it will be restricted by those in power having access to the knowledge. Spellcasting should take more time based on complexity and power of the formulae, any physical activity consumes energy based on intensity but training should mitigate the effects for a time. Ignoring your limits should be dangerous and magical, the corruption of self be it physically, mentally or spiritually. Now you have crazy magicians, deformed magicians or weir magicians caused by power hungry, not so clever or people skilled on hindsight.
If you want magic as a combat resource then fireballs etc are going to lose any sense of mystery pretty quickly. If you make casting times a lot longer then you can have magic as a background feature where the scenario is to stop or enable a ritual that opens a portal, summons or bnishes a demon... similar to Call of Cthulhu. If you drop the hermetic casting approach and have magic being gifted by infernal powers you also get a lot more flavour.
>>97217677>I hate it when something written by someone else decades ago did not perfectly conform to what I want it to be in every way!!>Things should only be what I want them to be!!!!
>>97217677>>97217788Could be worse, at least it's not Sabrina/Bewitched/I Dream of Jeannie shit where there is no limits or rules, anything goes no matter how stupid because we don't need to have rules.

>>97223367If Horus waged an actual war instead of beelining for Terra to try and shank the emps
>>97223411We place objective markers before deployment map, yes. We just also place objectives where there's not going to be any instant-victories if the right deployment map is rolled (early on we had too many games end immediately because we place 2 objectives in immediate range of where a DZ ended up being, and only 1 in the other with another 1 in no man's land). The center point of the objective can't be in the Deployment zone but the 3" area that you score within can. So yes, they are technically in no man's land but not in a meaningful way.To me it sounds like you're not really playing against shooting lists? if land raiders are "far from guaranteed" from getting killed. I'm losing a Spartan and half or more of the cataphractii inside turn 1 any time I deploy it in view/get 1st turn and move it forward. I've lost a Spartan and Typhon in turn 1 before.
>>97223446>In the old lore the traitors had a genuine chance at winning the heresylol
>>97223577How do you envision him doing that? He was in a worse position. Even their own legions weren't 100% on board with their plans and required culling. A lot of rebellions were just local forces desiring independence or smaller warlords taking the opportunity to forge their own little empires, rather than being loyal to Horus. Him taking out the one thing that held the Imperium together was better. Considering the Emperor is both keeping Terra from becoming a daemon world and protecting humanity from becoming daemon spawns, taking Him out would've been way better for Chaos than a systematic war of conquest on all fronts. Without the Emperor and Terra, the Imperium would fracture and whatever empires rose to take its place would not be as unified.

>>97223001>but the limit is 100 and even in a long deathwatch campaign, it will take forever for it to matterThat's a good point actually, Maybe I just don't give them out often enough, but even in the longest 40k campaigns I've ever run or played not a single character ever acculumated enough insanity or corruption points for them to actually become an issue
>>97223001>WPTbf, they were all in the 40s-50s with one 38. Basically, coin flips
>>97222774>picrelMan I got no memes from my games, I wonder if I'm too boring of a GM.
>>97223001You say that, but I went from 0 to 38 in twelve sessions. Granted, some of that was the librarian not keeping a lid on their shit, but still. I'd like to maybe keep a character a little longer rather than feed marines into a fucking grist mill.

>>97220915Maybe you should stop installing mods without knowing what they do, Visas' class is jedi sentinel and will stay that way. Sith assassin is one of the player only prestige classes.
I want to be owned and bullied by a pureblood sith woman.
Thinking of starting with Shatterpoint. A friend already has the core set, so can I just grab one box and start playing, or is the core set necessary? I want to play, but I want to avoid another dead-end buy-in like Legions.
>>97217875What we REALLY need are some of those giant blaster-proof alien monsters that appear in almost every other episode of Bat Batch, Mandalorian, Rebels, and Ahsoka. Sends some of those giant crabs, dogs, and salamanders that for some reason no blaster can pierce the skin of at the Imperial ships.
>>97221870It was prequels if done by someone that thinks Star Wars sucked, aliens are stupid, space ships are dumb, and the series should just be a thinly veiled vehicle ton complain about politics. Also couldn't help but notice the show just dropped the whole looking for his sister thing, and forgot all about it while expecting the viewer to forget too. And we never did learn why no one can know about the Lord of the Flies planet Andor came from or why it was significant.
This is a second OSRG, seperate from the main osrg thread, where you CAN talk about 2e, retroclones, and any osr content you want. This is different than the regular osrg as due to rampant trolling from a handful of bad actors, discussion is impossible.
>>97223415It's almost entirely bullshit and relies on "sources" that are even more bullshit. It's so fundamentally wrong on so many basic points that it's almost laughable how you think it could trick anyone who even is vaguely aware of the genesis of the OSR. You'd genuinely have to be a complete idiot to think it's even moderately convincing.I've seen Flat Earthers come up with more believable documents, complete with dozens of official looking citations, and all just because they think it would be really funny to try and dupe gullible people and to demonstrate how easy it is for people to believe what they want to believe. And, here you are, being even worse than them, because you're not doing it for laughs, you're just a dumb cunt.
