>>97242761As I said, I meant no offense asking. Just curious because I can't say I've seen something similar before. I might be a bit too frugal honestly, I never quite feel like I can justify commissions for my PCs, want to save that money. Only one I really have is one a friend commissioned for three of our PCs from a VtM game, and it was a pricy commission. Almost felt bad about it. Have gotten a few drawthread requests filled but none recently. It's near art, always happy to see people talk about their games, just something I hadn't seen before.

Moloch's Fun Park Edition>What is Trench Crusade? An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.>What Trench Crusade is notTC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic.>What's the QRD on the background? The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.>How do I get started? All the files are free online:https://www.trenchcrusade.com/rules/Comment too long. >>97242889best I could do is either rough math via hex size but I'm kinda lazy, so in MW5/O 160 m/s is standard LRM speed... very slow, a 9mm bullet out of your normal handgun is about 360 m/s.
>>97242894Projectile speed cannot be calculated by their max range in hexes because their max range in hexes is not supposed to represent the projectiles traveling at maximum speed over 10 seconds to their maximum range.Maximum weapon range in TT was never supposed to be interpreted as the actual maximum range of weapons in-universe and that much is stated, it's an abstraction for the sake of gameplay and not requiring a gargantuan mapsheet to play the game.Range is to be assumed significantly longer and accuracy significantly hampered by in-universe ECM making most forms of automatic guidance and computerized information gathering unreliable at best.
>>97242920The hard truth in Battletech is that the tabletop game and the lore have only an aesthetic connexion and are otherwise unrelated.
>>97242963Not an acceptable answer.
>>97242963The even harder truth is that any setting with more than one writer + decades of time is just chinese whispers and re-interpretation anyway. You could ask two different official current battletech writers and they'd probably give you different answers, and they'd probably be different to what you'd get if you asked any of the original guys.

Karak Eight Peaks is a good example of how rancidly ass the writing in Warhammer is.>hyperadvanced super strong rich dwarf province fell apart and got wiped out by goblins>dwarfs fail miserably trying to retake it because uhhhhhh lol goblins are so le random and funny>army of retards who are hilarious (painfully unfunny) cockney parodies are stronger, smarter and better in battle than the dwarfs ever could be because uhhhh le epic subversion of expectations i guessPisses me off to no end how pathetic and useless Warhammer Dwarfs are written to be, it's like anti-plot-armor.
>>97242824I advise you to reread the sad history of that place.
why does no one wear skirts? Skirts are bad ass.
>>97242903>sad history>dwarves must always suck and die because the hack writers say so because they hate themDwarves, elves, and brets were the three biggest punching bags in all the fluff, dishonorable fourth mention for beastmen who probably would've been shit on just as much had they ever even been slightly more relevant. There's nothing sad about any of their stories, you know they're gonna job hard af because that's what the turdburglars in charge of the lore demanded.
So list building wise, with mortuary cults if I have a mortuary priest as my leadership- 7 general if I include a tomb prince - what happens? Do I have to make the prince the general?

On the spectrum of rubber forehead aliens to complete starfish aliens that are made out of silica and breathe methane, where are YOU specificially comfortable with. Does there come a point where an alien becomes too weird for you to "relate" to in order to include them in your games as playable races?Personally I am fond of aliens that look plausibly like they could have evolved in a different world and have no distinguishable lineage to earth life, even if they share some superficial features.
>>97241451Kinonid
>>97242244While true, they also do it because it's a cheap way of conveying an idea or a specific kind of character trait to communicate the idea of the story.Star Trek is specifically guilty of this although it can be said that at least the Ferengi got a massive glow up from being slinking monkey dudes with bulbous foreheads and dragon dildo laser whips to a respectable race who represent old world capitalism in a post scarcity "we don't use money" world.
>>97240164What are some good resources for creating alien species? Or sapient races in general?
>>97242465Sometimes things just aren't that complex. Especially when they have a big folder to dump in threads of their specific favorite alien design.

>>97242014Naturally not if you are going to be honest and upfront about which edition you'll be playingThough I have to say I had a strange case of a young couple signing up for an ItO game, and while I repeatedly told them the oneshot will not be 5e, they still sat at the table expecting 5e lolTo do them justice they were good players, quickly adapted with guidance by example from experienced osr players at the table and everyone had tons of fun

>>97241430Someone on this board was crowing about how great it was, so I thought it might be worth checking out. I then found the PDF and couldn't tell if it was a joke or not. It's almost got a FATAL-tier cover, and as dumb as it looks, its contents are worse.>What the fuck were they thinking with that initiative.I imagine it's just a complete lack of understanding of how chance works or when or how approximations should be handled, and when an idea is not worth the amount of time spent on resolving it, or the headaches created by needing to track it.

I’m running a low fantasy game, and social advancement is gonna be a thing. So the PCs are gonna be rubbing elbows with a lot of noble families as they make their way into high society. I’m just asking for NPCs and ideas. Most of the nobility are humans, but a few are half-elves and halflings.
>>97233040You can have one extra peasant-y peasant who demonstrates why the nobility really do look down on people who haven't been trained in the proper ways to talk and behave. And an impoverished noble who had to let all his house staff go and is pretending he didn't.And give them manners and airs so even if a noble became as poor as a peasant and had to sell his last estate, they'd still feel superior to people born and raised peasants.
>>97233040Probably a military officer with noble blood. That's the kind of nobility adventurers would have the most dealings with. Maybe some provincial governor or duke who either gave out the mission or is scheming something.
Take a look at Houses of the Blooded.
>>97233040Heinrich De Sandea, secret occultist.A nobleman of an old and distinguished family that has a large estate and town out in the middle of nowhere. He commands significant respect at court due to his family line and wealth, but he secretly has a fascination with banned magic and forbidden books. He believes that the kingdom/empire/whatever has foolishly forfeited a powerful advantage by "needlessly" discriminating against these topics and schools of magic, and believes that ignorance of them will not serve as protection should some competitor choose to invest in them when we have not.So he's performing horrific magical research with the "justification" that he is doing it for the good of the realm, even if the realm would have him hanged if they ever suspected he was doing it. When Sinistaar the Dark Lich rises from his thousand year slumber, De Sandea will be the one guy who knows *exactly* how a phylactery works, how it might be found and destroyed, and maybe an uncomfortable amount on how to make one if you were so inclined (which is impractical, you'd never get ahold of that many orphans without drawing attention to yourself, there HAS to be a better way...)
Beautiful Princess who is removed from everything and lives of luxury.
