Shadow of the Demon Lord cuts the six stats down to four, so it's just Strength, Agility, Intellect and Will. All attributes are desirable for everybody so it's a meaningful tradeoff, and it means things like being a fit and strong mage or thief are actually worthwhile and not trap options.
While it's theoretically possible for somebody to be a roid-raging jacked power lifter with horrendous cardiovascular and immune health, vs a tiny Japanese housewife who can't lift 40 pounds but will live to 106 and never gets sick, the separation between CON and STR in fantasy games is largely irrelevant because the fantasy archetypes who have a bunch of one also have the other, Conan does not get winded running half a mile and his heart is stronger than Secretariat's. Fantasy enemies that are really strong are also really tough as well, like dragons, giants, orcs, trolls, vampires, werewolves, etc.

Separating Strength from Constitution pretty much just exists as a way to make playing a martial character more difficult, since it means if they want to be strong AND tough they need twice as much ability score luck or investment, while spellcasters are fine having the strength of a commoner but the constitution of a hydra.

If I remember correctly most named characters required permission and asked for a list above 1500 points.
Since most games where played between 500 and 1500, rules wise you could not see a named character even if you had permission because you would need to play a 1501 or more game.
But then again charactes back then even the most meme ones like Celestine where hardly the mandatory mess that they are in 10th

There is some asymmetric balance to this but those that look "underdeveloped" are just as strong as others.

Basic rules are that there is an initiative roll based off of a D6 + the highest command score of an unit you field. Whomever is high roll goes first.
You roll 12 d6 (and can reroll up to 8) for what are essentially action points.
It has a simple dice system using d6, d8, d10, and d12.
Roll to hit is based on enemy defense and you roll the respective dice and number of dice per attack.
Each successful point of damage is counter-rolled based on enemy defense values. There are certain levels of offense which can physically overpower defenses (such as rolling a high 10 on a d10 and the defense is only d8).
Damage is done by either casualties for infantry or damage values on vehicles.

You're probably thinking of "Corsairs" and Reclaimers which are the games version of "quality over quantity"

For every boon they accept, maybe they take -5 to Willpower saves against one specific daemon (a surprise tool to help us later), or maybe one of their subfaction slips just a tiny bit further away from the so-named positive aspects of their god. You've got a lump of grease in that skull of yours, I'm sure you can figure out something more narratively compelling than I.
