Moloch's Fun Park Edition>What is Trench Crusade? An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.>What Trench Crusade is notTC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic.>What's the QRD on the background? The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.>How do I get started? All the files are free online:https://www.trenchcrusade.com/rules/Comment too long. Hey /TCG/My partner and i have gotten heavily into the lore and models. We just arent too sure where to start? We have the rules and what not but on the website ive noticed not all have STL links. Also i habe a 3d printer but with no idea how to use it yet
Which of the Armies are recommended for the newest players? I've been excited to start my own warband part of the New Antioch. Yet is that the best way to go?
>>97231838>Also [I have] a 3d printer but with no idea how to use it yetLearn to use that first.
>>97231914I'm trying anon. I really am.
>>97231387To steal from another wargame I've played, one of the factions can 'Evolve'.Each unit has two things they can 'evolve' into. By default the player can evolve one unit a turn, but some abilities let them try to evolve more. For example, their chaff unit has two evolutions- Kill self and turn into a bunch of resource for the rest of the warband- turn into another unit type, but keep the same hpand another unit has these evolutions- gain 1 HP and armour, attack deals significant extra damage under some conditions- gain 2 HP, their other ability increases the damage and push distance a bit.
>>97231781It's a Clasp of Protection from Evil
>>97231781>it's an anti-evil bonus damage aura or something?Close, Protection against Evil. He bought it after noticing he kept getting dominated mid-fight (and out of fight due to Vampire Durkon)
>>97231807I guess he's still Evil then, despite all the apparent change latelyI suppose it's not so easy to switch alignment
>>97231867I expect he'll switch to neutral right before he dies. Some heroic sacrifice to save a teammate, or the like.
>>97231867Use of the clasp being literal penance in preparation for an alignment shift might seem a little on-the-nose... Then you remember who's writing this.
MECTech is my system for mech-based combat. Link to the rules that I'm about 80-90% finished with.>https://docs.google.com/document/d/18TSQCp5eVKER3ziEDW5p9t2OZtmEmE6v6lquue5elAg/edit?usp=sharingWhy make an entire thread?>Have enough content and questions to warrant it>Hope to get enough criticism/feedback to gain the inspiration to finish it within the next day or so>Main goal is just to talk about design philosophy with people>The board is slow Feel free to participate with questions or additions to any element of my system, or answers to questions that I ask. If you have your own design questions for TTRPGs, I'd be happy to give my 2 cents as well.First topic presented for review will be my take on general actions and action economy which I think is moderately unique
I don't really have any mecha based pictures so I'll just be using whateverPlayer Turns>Player turns consist of Full Actions, Quick Actions, Reactions, Free Actions>Full/Quick/Free actions are about what you'd expect.Reactions>Pick your reaction, roll a d20 to see if it's successful, perform the reaction and roll any additional dice required(example, if you need to make an attack roll)>Further separated into Delayed and Instant reactions>Can be performed by anyone involved in the current Sequence(of events) as long as there's a triggering action>Instant reactions happen BEFORE the triggering event concludes, while delayed reactions happen AFTER the triggering event>Each additional reaction in the same Sequence has a +2 to the number you have to roll in order for it to be successful>Only 1 of 5 pilot classes eventually gain the ability to have 2 reactions per turn instead of one>Multiple Reaction options can be taken at once and performed simultaneously, but ALL options need to be successful or none areComment too long. Flow of gameplayOne of the big goals I wanted to achieve was to make the player's pilot character, and the player's mech feel like 2 halves of a single unit. Which leads me to my idea for the general flow of the game, as far as I'm concerned.Out of MEC activity>sessions or missions or however else you'd want to separate gameplay would start with out of MEC activity>While out of combat, gameplay is more freeform with less rules>Pilot character 'health' is measured in Fate points>Fate points are used to perform activities, and you can lose more if you fail any attempts at something>Losing all fate points means your pilot character is contextually 'unable to fight' (which could mean they're unconscious, wounded trapped, etc)>The player can still participate in the MEC combat, but they'd have to play as some NPC substitute pilot with no bonuses>The general goal of out of mec activity is to gather data or otherwise make the upcoming MEC battle easierPilot and MEC abilities>MEC construction and loadout naturally determines what your MEC is capable of doingComment too long. >>97232219Inconclusive if you mean broken in the sense that they're game breaking, not enough games have been played since the book came out for anyone to confidently make that claim. If you mean broken as in "there is no reason to ever not take this upgrade on everything that can possibly take it", then yes. People are even abusing a loophole to take UF on chaos lords/exalted champions. One guy did that (and took it on marauders and marauder horsemen) and came second at a 2500 point event. A T7 chaos lord with the armour of meteoric iron and the ogre blade riding a dragon is nasty. What we can conclude is that chaos warriors are no longer a viable unit for building a CR-brick, which mean they now only have one role in competitive play, which is being a sorcerer bunker. Go figure, a new chaos book comes out and makes chaos warriors worse. Fun.Semi-related, I wonder if 2500 or 3000 point games will become the standard going forward.

To preface, I'm an MTG veteran. My first Precon was Coven Counters in 2021 and I've been an EDH player ever since. After years of playing, I think the WUBRG elemental may just do me in. Gimmick synergy, tribal, a real throw in anything somewhat related type of commander potential. It also has the most forced WUBRG ability to date: being able to pay WUBRG in order to keep an Elemental you Evoked is utter bullshit. It completely defeats the purpose of Evoke and is just a continuation of "drop a set, put whatever you want under 1 commander."I hate it, you hate it, and it's just a slap in the face of previous WUBRG Legendaries that tried to be something more than tribal or gimmick synergy, or just cram some WUBRG ability in last second, such as [[Atogatog]] [[General Tazri]] [[Golos, Tireless Pilgrim]] [[Jodah, the Unifier]] [[Jenson Carthalion, Druid Exile]] [[Morophon, the Boundless]] [[Najeela, Blade Blossom]] and [[Ramos, Dragon Engine]] . And I'm missing a shitton of other WUBRG Legendaries that could be Commanders. But let's look at the new WUBRG Legendaries that could be Commanders (hint: they're all tribal, gimmick synergy, or cram in a WUBRG ability last second): [[Avatar Aang]] [[Cosmic Spider-Man]] [[Hei Bai, Forest Guardian]] [[Heroes in a Half Shell]] and [[Infinite Guideline Station]] .As long as WotC keeps dropping cards like [[Horde of Notions]] , MTG will die very soon and for real this time.

Thus far, it seems to be a fairly minimalist system. Now, we shall make our first setting for this system. If your proposed idea gets doubles, it is canonized. >>97190377 Maybe you could fashion a tool out of a paperclip. Chisel end it or wrap it with a little bit of fine sandpaper. Secure the sandpaper with a rubberband or super glue, secure the paperclip with a hobby knife handle if you have the right socket for it (a set if sockets are handy so you can fix a variety of tools to it)
>>97210457 I'm a little new to FDM, coming from MSLA, but there are some things you can tweak. If you're using Orca Slicer, under the Quality tab, try reducing the Slice Gap Closing Radius and the Resolution values. Some things still won't print for me though, and I think I need to change the extrusion width --I'm also running .4mm so that probably doesn't help
>>97231460Had a look, couldn't find anything.
Brand new to this whole thing but I have myself >ELEGOO Resin 3D Printer Mars 2 Pro MonoFor a starting. I hope I didn't make a mistake with it? All brand new and what not.
>>97232281Get a couple of silicon pads, preferably with raised sides. Put the printer on one, do processing on the other, including cleaning. If you run one of those wash units, maybe a third for that, but I wash by hand so can only guess. Aside from that, I put a thin film of ptfe oil on surfaces around the printer unit to help protect it some from spills and splashes. Just wipe on and wipe off, so there's a barely perceptible film on the surface. If you need to tape the edges of the screen, do that before though. Stuff won't stick well to surfaces once the ptfe oil is applied. Mars 2 is a little dated but can be a decent printer. Has a mono LCD and collimated light. If I remember right, the collimation lenses sometimes had some offset problems. A lot of printer designs moved from an array of lenses to a fresnel I think.

I would like to run a Rifts game. I created a shoddy system for Foundry to play Palladium Fantasy, but the core book was so badly written that I would not want to touch coding Rifts with a 10' pole. Are there any ways other than taking the SW pill to play rifts online?

Why is it that so many fantasy writers make their evil cults unjoinable by anyone with a functioning brain cell? Like why would you worship Orcus, whose goal is omnicide? Why would you worship Tzeentch if he’s probably gonna screw YOU over as part of his grand plan? What makes it so bizarre to me is that, firstly, it’s not like they need to be so off-putting to be evil. Orcus is a demon of undeath, his followers want to turn their enemies into the undead. Tzeentch wants the world to be in a constant cycle of chaos, his followers are gonna be masterminding world wars.Secondly, it’s not like we don’t have plenty of examples of real-world evil cults. A lot of cults in the West don’t follow Super-Duper-Mega-Murder Satan, but are fucked-up offshoots of Christianity. Historically, goetia was practiced by people who would’ve still called themselves Christians, while committing rituals to summon and get boons from demons. Plenty of human cultures used to sacrifice humans to their gods, not to summon them to kill everyone or some shit, but to honor and/or appease them.Like to use another example from Warhammer, I think Nurgle and Khorne present more “approachable” evil cults. Nurgle is toxic positivity, and his love will take all the pain away. Khorne is wrapped up in enough language about honor to lure people in.Like to rework an evil deity, let’s pick Lamashtu. Instead of “We love ugliness and miscarriages and also you get to die in childbirth”, the cult targets vulnerable young women and lures them in with divine feminine language (“You have the power to bear and raise great beasts”), while promising the young men of monstrous races frustrated living among humans that what they’re scorned for is what makes them powerful (and also they get to have sex with pretty girls).
>>97207451>Reasonable Cultists>worship Chaos Undivided as the heart of mankind's virtue>worship Khorne as a god of honor and justice>worship Slaanesh as a god of love and beauty>worship Nurgle as a god of life and empathy>worship Tzeentch as a god of hope and creativity>manage to summon daemons aligned with those aspects of the gods>Imperium comes to purge their homeworld, is confronted with Bloodthirsters laying their lives down to protect the helpless, Daemonettes inspiring men to fight for their families, Plaguebearers delivering emergency medical aid, and Horrors keeping everyone's morale up>Exterminatus is called>this is worse than a normal demon incursion by far
