anon I don't want to argue that point it's a dumb point but if you're trying to use real world special ops as an example of why idk what to say to you. I was just postulating that I don't imagine people would care if they did this like 15 years ago like Halo but such is the consequences of the culture war.
>>
>>97389323
Okay so you're playing dumb gender politics now and sidestepping the point.

There's no fucking way to make a female body as good as a male body at combat. That is, a body that is recognizable as female. Custodes, like space marines, and Primarchs, are all male humans as state multiple times. Like they say this. You don't say "hurr they're meta humans who don't have Le gender" when Malcador said he wished the Primarchs were women. If there was no difference and meta humans were post gender like you're implying there wouldn't a distinction. You'll say "Primarchs aren't custodes" but your the point still stands that the implication that meta humans like custodes are somehow post gender. You're relying entirely on "space magic" as an argument. In order to bring a female body up to parity with a male body you'd have to do a lot more work to it to essentially turn it male, I feel like you might be too stupid to understand this point because in your mind it seems you can say a body with permanent breasts, wider hips, less bone density, less muscle fibers, less muscle density, a narrow chest, more likely to get frostbite, is less aggressive and combat orientated, isn't as good at rotating 3D objects in their head, weighs less, is some how magically just as good as a male.

>But the custodes process gets rid of all of those things
Okay, then you don't have a female anymore. You need something to produce testosterone in equivalent levels to a male.

>Who gives a fuck if the women are slightly physically weaker originally, they're going to undergo a suite of biological enhancements that will render them unrecognizable.

Yeah, unrecognizable as women, because male bodies are objectively superior physically in every way.

>GW in kind are listening to those voices most of all these days
A lot of GW employees are shitlibs/commies themselves (Mike Brooks is a bisexual communist who pushes wokeslop), and the UK is a shitlib totalitarian state that all but forces you to be a cuck. It's a miracle the lore has held out this long without being utter wokeslop; it's just slowly heading that way. Ideally, the Warhammer IP would be taken away from them and given to some right-leaning American group to preserve it from wokification. Ironically, the corporate power structure and copyright laws are actually working in the left's favor, since it allows a small group of woke freaks who sit on the executive board to overrule the will of the consumers of their product.
>>
>>97389419
No you went there by trying to deny the real reason is social politics and tried to reorientate the argument into saying female super soldiers are completely believable. When they're just not, the reason that female guardswomen sisters of battle and even sisters of silence are all believable are because they are doing something firstly female guardswomen are grunts they're not special they're bottom of the chain just like everyone else, completely believable.
Sisters of battle are Nuns but given power armour and an intense zeoltry, completely believable, they're not better than Space marines but better than your average guardsman, very believable power scaling.
Sisters of silence are blanks, pariahs and have a special gene they're born with basically a birth defect that gives them a unique ability but tactically speaking they're not better than Space Marines or Custodes yet they are as important as a Custodes because of their abilities. Believable in the lore, in the universe, completely believable power scaling.

Femstodes now being completely the same as Malestodes out of nowhere is not believable, both in universe and in the real world women are inferior tactically in body, in power, which is why in-universe previously women were present were either completely generic or had a unique special ability or something about them that was believable which males couldn't fulfill that role of.

In the real world there hasn't been a single instance of a woman becoming part of the special forces of the British army, Navy or air-force, so you're already making something here Femstodes that would have no basis in reality is a complete fantasy not something that has a basis in reality and then is taken to the nth level but literally has no basis in reality, is a complete and utter fabrication however you're putting that complete and utter fabrication alongside something that does have a basis in reality, it's clashing in the minds eye two diametrically opposed.

>s some how magically just as good as a male.
given he's saying it's space magic he more or less is saying this, no? Also arguing over the real world biological differences to apply to 40k seems like something of a losing battle since Space Marines have a number of augmentations that make no real world practical sense like having two hearts ( there's a reason no mammals evolved for this ) and other retarded shit. i'm not sure why you guys take this autistic line of argumentation in a setting where the 8 ft tall supersoldiers also turn into werewolves and vampires when your real issue is just the politics of it. it always just looks dumb

GURPS is a modular, adaptable system, capable of running a wide range of characters, settings, and play styles, with a level of detail varying from lightweight to completely autistic.
Optional rules allow you to emulate different genres with a single system, or even switch genres within a single game.

A nearly complete archive of GURPS books can be found by using the image. Never post direct links to the archive anywhere in plain text.

If you're wondering where to start:
- The Basic Set covers everything, including a lot of optional rules you probably won't use.
- A genre guide can be found in the archive, under Unofficial/GURPSgen. It tells you what extra books and articles you may find useful for many common genres.
- How To Be a GURPS GM is a good read even for players.
- GCS (gurpscharactersheet.com) is an excellent character-builder software, with page references to all the books and the option to export to both Foundry and Fantasy Grounds.

Thread question: what's the best classic GURPS cover art?

I don't know, haven't got it in a state that's worth testing yet.
Idea is there are three different versions (light, medium, and heavy) of every weapon type (assault rifle, shotgun, smg, etc.). Medium is the baseline and light and heavy are the same gun but with different stats pushed in the corresponding direction (light usually means less damage but bigger mag size and heavy the opposite).
Then you apply the manufacturer to these bases which changes the gun's stats. For example Dahl weapons have better handling and reload, Vladof have more firerate, Torgue fires explosive gyrojets. This would also include making some stats worse.
On top of the stat changes would be the manufacturer bonus mechanic like Hyperion guns having "inverse" recoil (the longer you shoot the more accurate it is although I haven't figured out how this would work in gurps), Maliwan being always elemental, and Tediore having the throw like a grenade to reload mechanic. These are all based on BL2, and there would be a "gen 2" version of all guns that add the mechanics from BL3+4 like Jakobs ricochet on crit/headshot or Bandit weapons having a heat-up mechanic.
Here's a very old sheet I made of all the different weapon bases and manufacturer bonuses plus some other stats I cobbled together. It definitely needs more balancing plus figuring out how some of the mechanics would work. I got a few ideas down for elemental damage but nothing serious yet. Also I was working on a basic intro one-shot to go along with this but it isn't finished either.

Asking for opinion - while I cannot do much about arms length due to how it is constructed, I have a feeling that waist guard section is too big, even if shoulder guards, not present yet, will be similar in size. At the other hand, if I would try to make it smaller, I would have to make it only covering sides due to size of waist section.

What do you think?

The long and short is that it's boring, at the end of the day. Yeah it has some shock value and amusing/novel moments but eventually you realize that nothing is going to change, nothing is going to be said, the story isn't going to meaningfully progress and the series is just skin-deep edgelord misery porn for its own sake and it gets very repetitive very fast.

It also doesn't help that it's frequently babby's first x-rated comic and so people get nostalgia goggles for it and will irrationally defend it.

Well, to your credit, you probably do really believe that. But trust me, or any other adult in the room, it's quiet clear that, no, there was no way they could have done it that you'd accept. The shared outrage is just too sweet to you. It gives you a sense of belonging, a shared purpose, a shared enemy. Exactly what the little ball of teenage anxiety that passes for your soul craves. And the outrage has to feel justified, and so you convince yourself that had the peer-approved-target only done this or that you totally wouldn't shit on them, for sure.

I don't think you can even reach 100ft as a human monk even as a 20th level at all, fucking sure not permanent. Pf2e is anti cool acrobatic/athletic
>>
>>97388680
So I've actually discussed this before, and comparing 1e at its most athletic (just like with almost everything else about the system) makes 2e look like a paraplegic joke.

In the Mythic system for Pathfinder 1e, Champions have a Tier 1 ability called Aerial Assault. Basically, as a free baseline, it adds 10 ft. of height or distance per tier to ALL of your jumps, plus if you hit someone on the way down you got a bit of extra damage equal to the damage you would have normally taken from falling that height. So, when JUST taking this ability into account, a MR 10 character with this could theoretically leap up over 100 ft in a single bound for free, and if they wanted could get up to 10d6 extra damage if they jumped vertically in combat.

Now, let's compare that to the closest thing we have to its 2e equivalent: Feet that Stride the Sky. This is an Uncommon Mythic Feat 2 that has a Calling prerequisite, and says that if you SPEND A POINT, you get to make a High or Long Jump at Mythic proficiency. It tries to soften the blow by making it so that no matter what kind of jump you always use the easy flat Long Jump DC of 15, and you also get to double your movement speed, but it only lasts for one jump. It doesn't even remove the need for you to get at least a 10 ft running start first; and worse, it doesn't matter how fast your movement speed is. The most you're ever going to jump with a High Jump (even with the reduced DC) will be at most the predetermined 8 feet vertically and 10 feet horizontally listed on a crit success, so that extra movement speed I mentioned only matters for Long Jumps.
You get no bonus damage from the height, and most damningly of all? Paizo didn't even make a follow-up Mythic Feat to pair with this other than MAYBE Godspeed, which requires you to spend EVEN MORE of your limited points to get a piddly +10 to your movement speed for one whole minute.
>>
>>97388841
never thought they would nerf that instead of instances of super damage or enemy nullification wombo combos
>>
>>97389120
Most of the 2e community agree that the 2e Mythic system is very undertuned and underbaked, even for 2e standards. Though it wasn't about trying to nerf the "broken" parts of 1e so much as actually making it function as a system by not having it stuck in an AP subsystem.

>>97388841
I mostly agree with this, but I do want to acknowledge the powercurve of 2e in general. Low-level feats are just that, low-level. They are meant to be more practical or lowkey then character defining. And this applies to the Mythic system as well, you aren't going to expect a power to scale like Aerial Assault if its not a distinct spell or class power.
2e can be pretty No Fun Allowed but I think there has to be more a middleground between "oi you god a loicense to be cool tuday!?" and "free 10d6 goomba stomp every round".
>>
>>97389408
Ignoring the mythic system is still incredible feat/magic item/level intensive in 2e to come close to what you could easily do athletically/acrobatically in 1e

Are my best options. The former should be fine because it's a game about getting tangled in the local affairs of wherever you end up at, and with the latter skills are freeform and give an equivalent bonus to the one you get from your weapon, but they can stack in theory so if you really wanted you could give yourself a combat background and stack it with the weapon bonus, but I suppose that's balanced by the fact you're specialising and giving up potential versatility elsewhere.

it basically boils down to:

>the attacker rolls dice equal to its Strength
>the defender rolls dice eqaul to its Strength
>5-6 cancels are successes
>successes cancel other successes
>uncancelled successes turn into damage

most of the time, a player attacks so nothing happens
essentially wasting a turn

Gonna quibble here. Avatar is pretty blatantly 70s sci fi. It's got Gaia theory, wise and noble savage Indian aliens, eco- and corporate dystopia Earth, all hallmarks of late-70s science fiction. There was a reason why the first film was criticized as Dances with Wolves in space, the genre zeitgeist it was chasing had been out of public interest for 20 years when it was released.
>>

Reified Gaia theory; on Earth Gaia theory was posited as a way of thinking about the planet's biosphere as a whole, on Pandora not-Gaia is a literally real entity that resides in the network of the trees.
But otherwise you're 100% correct, Cameron is a based 70s sci-fi enjoyer

Anyone got any stories or experience running Tiny Supers? I was looking into running it, it looks like it strikes a nice balance between mechanics and powers without having massive lists detailing every power.

It was a superhero game, he was a space demigod with daddy issues that needed to take a short cut to another side of the galaxy through a parallel dimension, so without informing the group he went to a space colony's anti-matter core reactor and used it for his needs accidentally trapping the whole planet between planes of reality and making it look like he perished in the attempt, the rest of the group thought he died but in reality he went on an extra dimensional errant and came back later in the game.

What I meant is it's a "space superhero" game.

Have any of you ran your players through the Theater Kid Wood Chipper? How many of them tried to stick something in Acererak's mouth?

Wasnt Ravenloft, as a setting, basically created with a similar ethos?

Just make it as insufferable and unfair as possible because the designers wanted to "make their players pay."

You sound like an angry bitch

Dunno how you came up with that. Ravenloft was created because Weis & Hickman wanted to do Gothic Horror stuff, and the setting was created because the original two modules did really well and 2e-TSR wanted money from setting lines.

Like, at a glance what I think is "Balance" not "Stasis" since both of the abstract concepts (?) are in a scale. I wonder how did the artist came up with this concept and why, but it fails the purpose of indicating what the idea of the card was.

>Only stupid Redditfags do this
No, you stupid nogames, half of old fantasy settings did this back in the day. It was a very common idea in the 90s and earlier.

That's not weebshit. The thread is about weebshit.

In the game on your image, not once are these M&M scifi elements actually referenced.

In the original "Q1 - Queen the Demonweb Pits" Lloth is faced inside a giant mechanical spider ship.

>>97360797
The Might and Magic series is actually built on that idea. You also have BECMI D&D's Mystara setting where a starships core in the center of the hollow planet is making things immortal.

>Medieval fantasy setting
>Magic is nanomachine tech
>Ancient ruin is a crashed spaceship
>"The Oracle" is an AI
>Gods are original humans
>The player characters are aware of all this, but the people around them are not
>You must now navigate this superstitious medieval society without being burned as a witch for knowing how to turn the air conditioning on
Play my game, boy
