Would love to share some YTers I like to use for inspiration. Looking for anyone you find helpful. Preferably smaller creators and not restricted to 5e. I’ll submit three that I really enjoy while I’m doing prepFirst I’ll submit is Desk and Dorks. The channel is made by a medieval historian and combines his knowledge of subjects to enhance games. I particularly like his take on Bronze Age fantasy and building better town guards
>>97228344If you're talking about the video I saw a while ago, the point was about making distinctive NPCs without having to prep or overthink. It's an important thing if you have the players interact with a lot of NPCs, for example when they are creating their keep and gather a bunch of followers in one go or if they want to interact with some powerful group like nobles or a merchant guild.

>>97281246Yeah they haven't updated Rewards of Treason
GW should have used the new weapon trait rules to add a 'Bayonet' trait so they don't have to constantly state 'any more with X can take a bayonet' in the options.Change my mind
>>97282261>bolter/pistol/ccw vetsI'm sorry, anon. Thinking it over, maybe that's workable, from a balance standpoint. Rip true grit, but look at Centurion Command squads. Maybe it's okay that a unit with proper melee cannot wield good dakka. And the one that can, pays extra because that's termies.I mean look at pistols. Limited Return Fire, don't compete against actual guns in VEQ squads, they fire yet again in Volley Fore...aren't they the most relevant they've ever been?
I want to make some red butchers now that they are a WAAC unit, but I don't love the existing resin poses. Converting sounds more fun anyway, but I can't find the right bits for the butcher chainfists. Does anybody make good dual powerfist / chainfist arms for cata termies?
>>97282479How would that help? Traits don't do anything on their own, and you have to be told to take from a wargear list, the wargear list doesn't describe who can take from it. At best you could make a bayonet wargear list and reduce the lines from 3 to 1 but A) we've established people have more trouble parsing wargear lists nested in text, see veteran tacticals and B) the only real thing you could with it is add some legion weapon to the bayonets list, and the only ones stupid rough to have non power weapon legion weapons are space wolves and world eaters.

Anyone play it yet? I like the "rustic fantasy" setting. The core rules seem interesting, it has more mechanics and gameplay than most other narrative games. I enjoy that it doesn't have moves or whatever to confine you, you can actually play your character and do whatever you want. It's got enough knobs and options in terms of resolution I feel like it's actually a real game despite having that more story focus vs simulation focus. And I like that the DM has all the traditional power of the DM and there's not like "Fate Points" or something else that gives players control to change stuff.Thinking I might try a short game for my table, just a few lower powered sessions. It also has good tools for a solo stuff which is interesting.
>>97280306I mostly wanted to see what the fuss was about. Taking a closer look at it, I take back my declaration to distribute it to my friends. I've seen better games, and I don't have the energy to dog on OP for this one.
>>97280529What systems do what this one wants to better?
>>97281603Absolutely take what I say with a grain of salt since I'm no game dev, but I'd honestly stick to a Powered by the Apocalypse game system, since it seems to want to be basically a more customizable version of that with the whole Tropes and Tags idea of character building. Though in a sense, it also reminds me a lot of Risus in that way.
>>97282455The biggest thing I struggle with for the PBTA stuff is the moves feel constricting to me. I just don't feel like I'm authentically doing what I want to when it comes to do "all actions you can take are one of these 9 moves."
>>97276085It sucks
Why were so many of the "OG" game designers insufferable faggots? It seems like the vast majority of game designers from the 70s and 80s were self-obsessed dickheads who openly hated and looked down on their customer base. There were obviously exceptions, and some like Gygax would go on to regret and apologize for it, but still, what made so many "professionals" back then such fags?Pic related: WFRP author James Wallis's response to a letter criticizing how railroaded The Enemy Within campaign was.

>>97276871Descent 1: doors at certain points. When a hero opened it a story block introduced the place in detail, that point all the enemy was placed as well in that room. Also the game used overlord (one player controls enemies and gets cards which could be used for random events). Played ages ago but stil remember the first time when in the middle of hero movement the overlord stopped it and had to roll saving roll, floor collapsed to a trap. Middara at the other hand using totems and objective tokens. During gameplay when you are at line of sight of a totem (at any distance) a hidden text is read, small description represents what heroes see or hear, new enemies, objects are placed. Objective tokens need to activate by a hero and have similar effects. Basically all of these are the fog of war elements. In middara sometimes the goal is hidden as well and these elements place those on map. In middara also sometimes there are more than one (map) exit, both introduced differently so heroes chose which route have better promise: easier route but it might be more occupied towards the hive or the harder one which might lead you closer to your goals.

Realistically what would life in a world of superheroes where your ability is defined by your bloodline be like? Would eugenics be common place in such a world? Would government affect them if the abilities could range from pointless to Homelander level at best?
Elves are hunted because >Their meat tastes better than anything>Their blood can cure illnesses>Their bones are beautiful and jewel-like>Their hair is nearly unbreakable and can be woven into unbreakable fabric>Their organs have specific propertiesAs a result, they've gone from living like well, elves to basically becoming an entire race consisting of Guts from Berserk.
>>97276203>>97278886That's Five Star Stories.
>>97281054Depending on the timeline of the powers appearance:In Ancient times: It would probably be a feudalistic society with the superheroes being treated as gods or noble with noble arranged marriages being the closest thing eugenics. In modern times: Superheroes might be encouraged to use their power for good. If they are sufficiently strong the government could legally institutionalized to closely monitor them. Probably away from others like them to prevent an uprising.
