>>96464221>A Quiet Place settingDoes anyone find that the movie had good a premise in the beginning, but really fucked it up in the end and makes the whole world look stupid. Really no one thought to use a sonic-based weapon on creatures whose only mode of perception was hearing? Especially that the said weapon is like made from common radio-parts and a hearing aid? >>96467022I want it to be a two month affair like Christmas is. Also trying to get my friends to celebrate Walpurgis Night so we can have a 2nd Halloween each Spring.
So /tg/ I did two games with different settings and systems, but using the same ideas. They were Delta Green and Chronicles of Darkess (which we later changed to Hunter the Vigil and Vampire). The concept was to make a chronicle inspired by Twin Peaks but using that "Mandela Effect" conspiracy theory. I'll try to summarize months of sessions. The players had to go to a small town in Maine called Honeyville and discover who killed the daughter of the CEO of a mega-corporation. They discover that not only does a cult that worships a spiritual creature with Lovecratian elements, called "Mr. Nobody," control the town, but also the corporation (something like Pentex from Werewolf: The Apocalypse). The cult is having a "civil war," and one of the factions sacrificed the CEO's daughter without the approval of all the members. Where does the Mandela Effect come in? Well, both players and cultists learn to enter a shadow world, a temporary reality far less detailed than ours, but similar to the Umbra or the otherworld in Silent Hill. Every time someone enters this world and interacts with anything there (even opening a door counts), it affects our reality. The world's history changes, people disappear or are replaced, and the memories of those who didn't enter this world also change. People who manage to enter this world are called "jumpers." So, both players and NPCs caused changes and only realized it when it was too late. It was amusing to see the confused faces every time they returned to town and realized something had changed. In the end, the players prevented the cult from sacrificing an albino girl with Rh-null blood, the rarest blood type in the world. The ritual would have made the spirit become a full-fledged god. Oh yeah, and the NPC that summoned the player characters was basically David Lynch, so I had to constantly imitate him.

>>96469874To add on to this, the setting pretty much is the old world, and is currently in the 1780-1800's ish in terms of progress. The industrial revolution in this setting has introduced things like the steam engine, early bolt action rifles, and other inventions of this time. Pretty much this industral revolution gave the human states of the time (mostly elf vassal states or fringe kingdoms) a economic and technological advantage over the elderkin (elves) who where still fighting with swords and magic and where too arrogant to adapt to anything. When some of the vassal states started to step out of line, the elves (currently in a succession crisis) decided that nothing would legitimise the new dynasty like a quick war against the savages. This turned out to be a big mistake (elven society had grown decadent and arrogant) and the elves got absolutely butchered and the conflict quickly devolved into trench warfare. Eventually the elves adapted and with the help of several elven states and dwarf clans, where able to defeat most of the upstart human states. However they quickly found that technology had spread across the world and now even more of their vassals where in revolution, and even other races, like the orcs had started to get their hands on it. Now the elves have lost most of their empire, are no longer the major players and are pretty much hated by everyone.
Have an idea for a fantasy rpg world that I've been working on for a while. Basically just filling out a text doc with ideas. I have it in my head, I've tried using free map making things, but they're very jank and not really to the scale I want to explore. I want to make a fully explorable planet, but also have places of dense interest with sub themes, (weird wild west, far east inspired places, steam punk victorian flavored places, wild jungle tree top dwelling places, etc). I'm basically just ripping ideas directly from all of my favorite fantasy franchises and blatantly mashing them together, but also blending them and remixing them into an original setting. I would like to find someone smarter than me to help me condense this into a more cohesive idea, but I also don't want to get ripped off. I also want it to be an extremely slow reveal of the world as its explored. I would like to make it compatable with DnD and PF and other popular ttrpg systems, and maybe adapt it to novels and stuff. I want to include a pokemon style element type theme to everything, but boiled down to various combinations of earth, wind, fire, water, and everything be based off of a variation of these base elements. I also have a source of the strangeness and magic in the world that makes logical sense in a scifi fantasy sort of way. Like a kernel of origin for all the weirdness to act as the mcguffin and the driving force of the world.
>>96460954NTA, but why would the builders make it so large?
>>96460954The point of my suggestion was to offer a reason for mecha (logical in-universe siloing of mass combat and dungeon crawling); letting the mecha enter the dungeon obviates that and collapses back to "what do they add".
