Here’s why the Baneblade poster wants a raw 3D scan with no edits for 3D modeling and conversion:

>1. It keeps the real-world scale and proportions intact. Every component, from the cannon to the tracks, is >accurately represented in terms of size and placement. Many reworked models mess with these proportions, >changing how parts like the engine stacks or sponsons fit together, which can throw off the overall feel.
>2. The scan captures all the fine details, like wiring, guards, and gunners, that are easy to lose in a reworked >model. When you mess with a model, you risk changing small but important features that affect the look and >function of the build. With a raw scan, all those minute details are preserved, giving you a solid foundation to >build from.
>3. Starting with a raw scan means you’ve got the freedom to tweak things as you want without screwing up the >proportions or important details. A process model from someone else can change those details, mess with >scale, or throw off proportions without you even knowing. Plus, a lot of proxy models mess with the proportions >of components, altering the general shape and size, and throwing off the overall look.

I think Artificers would feel better if they didn’t have verbal components for their spells. Somatic and Material make sense- but verbal less so.
>>
I'm playing a rogue in a 2014 5e game. This game has some homebrew stuff, racial bonuses are changed around a bit, some spells are changed, e.g. Silvery Barbs and Goodberry are level 2 spells, and so on. It's a relatively punishing game, and dying as a player if you or your team as a whole fuck up can happen easily and has happened before during the course of the game. And death is permanent, as regular resurrection spells don't work, only very high level stuff like wish that we don't have yet.

I'm an elf rogue. Originally, when we started the game, I picked swashbuckler subclass. Elf racials are one wizard cantrip, I picked Booming Blade, 60 feet darkvision, 35 movement speed, and longbow proficiency. I originally wanted to play the character as a melee rogue, but due to difficulty of the game, it was simply not viable. So I've been more and more ranged as time went on. I've taken Elven Accuracy at level 4 and will soon be taking Sharpshooter at level 8. I have 20 DEX and 15 CON, other stats are mid, +1 or 0. We rolled for stats.

We're about to hit level 8 and I've been given the opportunity due to in-game happenings to switch my subclass to Arcane Trickster, and decided to take it. Now, I just have to decide which spells to take. As a level 8 Arcane Trickster, I'll be able to get three cantrips, and six spells, up to four of which can be level 2 and rest level 1. Four of those six spells have to be either illusion or enchantment school. What spells would you all recommend? Here's what I'm thinking (continued in next post):
>>
>>96498414
3 cantrips: Mage Hand (required), Light, Dancing Lights
This campaign spends a lot of time fighting in darkness, either at night, or underground. We have one character with Light cantrip in the party, but getting a second source of light can't hurt. Dancing Lights is for my benefit, it has 120 feet range so I can set it up way ahead of me and snipe at incoming enemies that I usually cannot see with my own 60 feet of darkvision.

2 level 1 spells: Shield (any), Tasha's Hideous Laughter (enchantment/illusion)
Shield is a great spell, but I wonder if I could do better? I can already halve damage from one attack as a reaction, Shield can outright stop damage and is incredibly potent if the enemy multi attacks. I only have 11 INT so any spell that requires a damage roll or a saving throw is a waste, but since my options for enchantment/illusion level 1 spells are so bad, I figured I could pick Tasha's Hideous Laughter in a freak chance I succeed at CCing the boss we're running away from.

4 level 2 spells: Invisibility (enchantment/illusion), Mirror Image (enchantment/illusion), Blur (enchantment/illusion), Misty step (any).
Mirror Image + Blur feels like an insane combo for survival, as only one requires concentration so I can have both up at the same time. Invisibility is also great for escaping or even scouting ahead in case stealth isn't enough. Misty Step seems like a great spell, but I wonder, should I get something else instead? As a rogue, I can already use disengage and dash as action + reaction and run away 70 feet (35 speed racial), so maybe I should get something else? Kinetic Jaunt might be outright superior to Misty Step, Enlarge/Reduce can give me +1d4 extra damage for ten turns as I'm sniping away at enemies at max range, or maybe even a level 1 spell that can also be cast at level 2 like False Life that gives me extra hit points to reduce the chance of getting killed in one unlucky round of rolls?

Mirror image and Blur seem good on paper, but considering most fights last 3 rounds tops, spending one of them to just defensively buff up when you are a ranged character ie already out of harms way and could sneak around with your bonus action instead it's not great pick. Blur is just straight up worse than Mirror image imo. Shield can be done on reaction at any time you get swarmed by enemies to give you a freakish ac just when you need it, without using any of your precious few actions.

Your reasoning on misty step is sound, it's nice to have, but with your limited slots and your cunning action you can probably do without it.

As someone who seems very preoccupied with defensive stuff in a deadly game, consider Fog cloud. An often forgotten trait of these spells that obscure vision is that attacks of opportunity cannot be made on targets that cannot be seen. Meaning you could bail a fellow player out if they're getting attacked by putting a fog cloud on them, allowing them to run out of there as if they had disengaged. Invisibility can achieve the same thing, but is only touch range, so more for yourself in most situations, and then you can just bonus action disengage.

If you have access to a feat, and you get to use Tasha's cauldron for everything, consider picking up the Metamagic Adept feat. Subtle and Quicken. Casting spells completely silently while sneaking around or in plain sight when talking to npcs without any indication it was you could really up the trickery feel of your character and would probably be really fun. With quicken you could also potentially pick up something like Hold person and fish for an auto-crit where you bonus cast the hold person and sneak attack crit them on the same turn if it lands. You could only do it once per long rest and it's not the best, but would feel really cool.

Palladium Games and Rifts General! /PGaRG/

The world is a broken, post-apocalyptic wasteland destroyed by the eruption of inter-dimensional portals, rifts in the fabric of space-time and ley lines which crisscross the world. Demon & alien invaders have poured out of the rifts to destroy human civilization and claim the Earth. Now the wasteland has had 300 years to partially recover, and civilization has returned to the world; but not just human civilization: alien empires, monster kingdoms, lost time travellers, lands of mutants, demonic overlords and wizards have arisen from the ashes, all trying to rebuild the world in their own image!

RIFTS! The science fantasy world of post-apoc cyborgs, wizards, dragons, ninjas, giant mecha, super-nazis, robot ninjas, vampires, underwater kingdoms, remnant human supertech civilizations and everything you can imagine all rolled into one setting where interdimensional RIFTS have pierced Earth's fabric and turned it into a playground for aliens and monsters!

Plus other Palladium Games about superheroes, zombies, classic fantasy, supernaturals investigation and more.

I've only briefly played Palladium games, and the system struck me as clunky as hell, but something about the insanity of Rifts has always been appealing to me. Unfortunately it's hard to really convey this in an appealing way to the uninitiated.
How do you do it?
>>
>>96492861
>How do you do it?
1. Convince them to disregard any preconceived notion about the system, whatever they've read is wrong
2. If they're mechanically oriented give them a combat rundown of a SAMAS Vs. Glitter Boy scenario starting at 3km
3. If they're roleplay/social oriented explain the CS Dog Boy and ISS-Citizen dynamic.

Well you're right, the system IS clunky as hell, but the best way to introduce people is to show them the world (preferably Rifts Earth, but Splicers or Heroes Unlimited is good too) and let them make characters. When they see how many cool options there are to play they'll get invested.

The system... use it sparingly and ignore large chunks of it for best effect.

Am I missing anything or do Free/Far Traders flying off a C or D starport really always have a 25% chance or so of misjumping? In Traveller Classic, that is, the 1977 rules.
> Throw 12+ for a misjump to occur, DM+5 if within 100 planetary diameters, +3 if using unrefined fuel (except military and scout ships), -1 if using refined fuel, +2 if operating beyond the required date for annual maintenance.
Meaning as I said, on a 9+ on 2d6, misjump. And then class C and D starports, offering only unrefined fuel, are like 42% of all randomly generated starports? And then 50% chance the hex they pop up in has nothing by raw.
That all sounds fucking painful, unless you somehow stick to A and B ports. I guess that explains all those low population planets.
Are there other modifiers I missed somewhere? Something like, god the gas giant presence roll that's just a random line in book 2 instead of being in book 3. The 1981 rules are so much kinder about it, damn.

Traveller thread I guess.

What's the results of a misjump?

I think it's working as intended. The idea is that you want to beg, barter and steal for consumable tapes, or take known routes. The entire idea is that you're in sort of the unexplored wilds of space, especially in the 77 edition, at least to my understanding. The implied setting is a lot different than what they eventually settled on.

Why are some people so afraid to run games?
I bought a beginners box for Star Wars: Edge of the Empire, on a whim when I was visiting a comic shop around 2012 or 2013 and had my first ttrpg Experience the following weekend as a GM.
Since then, my players and I had a great time and most of them started running games on their own.
So why the fuck do I see so many idiots online, mystifying the job of a GM? It should be easier than ever to run games today (yes even online three out of four games are totally fine, if you filter out the obvious morons).

14(16.94) STR (+21%), 10(8) DEX, 11(15.66) CON (+6%), 10(10.6) HLT (+6%), 10 INT, 10(10.3) WIS (+3%), 10(11.3) LUK (+3%), 10(12.3) RES (+3%), 10(10.3) MND (+3%)
>Male (+6% STR, +3% WIS)
For once going Futa isn't the most optimal path for my build, thank god for that.
>Tall (+6% STR, -3% DEX)
>Fit (+6% STR, +3% CON, +3% HLT, -3% INT, -3% WIS)
Stronger and tankier. WIS evens out and the INT/DEX hits aren't significant enough to matter until I'm shooting myself at Level 90+ for the 3+ INT/DEX I'm missing out on.
>Classes, Profession x2, Titles, Guild Master
Doubled Profession is like becoming the ultimate support character. Heals, buffs, debuffs, contracts, scrolls, enchants, weapons, armor, clothing, all in one package. Topped with Classes and Titles for further specialization and I can make damn near anything. Plus since these interfaces make crafting a breeze the relevant skills will increase far faster than someone without them could hope for.
>Basic Crafting Boost, Minor Reinforcement, Minor Repair, Minor Pyromancy
The bread and butter skills of any half-decent System crafter. Crafting Boost is obvious. Minor Repair gives me immediate utility value to everyone since I'm probably the only guy around that can repair magical equipment (and all the other non-magical stuff destroyed by the literal apocalypse). Minor Reinforcement can make a lot of things endure where they would otherwise fail, like preventing gun barrel explosion from super-overpressure ammunition, or blocking an attack with your weapon that would otherwise go right through. Minor Pyromancy is just useful and magical, precise heat control could be very useful for working with metal.

>Pendant, Heavy Chestplate, Hammer
More STR/RES, armor, and a good multipurpose tool. I'm starting with the Hammer since currently monsters are "highly resistant" to firearms for unknown reasons, but a big goal of mine will be overcoming this limitation and switching back to guns ASAP. In the CYOAs scenario Crafters are by far the most equipped to effectively use guns, so this could result in interesting class/skill options.
>Advanced System
>Initial Craftsmen Guild, Initial Scholar Guild
+3% to most stats, +8% bonus to crafting quality, and +8% skill XP. All great boons, the stuff I craft is 12% better right out the gate. Ideally as a Guild we would all specialize in different areas of craftsmanship to make up for each others weaknesses, but finding other people with crafting-oriented Systems (or manually teaching someone the skills I have) could take awhile. In the meantime I plan for this to be a pro-humanity guild focused on rebuilding society and saving as many people as possible through heroism and the proliferation of magical arms. If a regular gun can't kill the monsters, a magical gun should suffice. As this is a great Endeavor, I name my guild the Endeavor Guild, with our banner being a burning hammer.

What is best for a Sentinel along with Strength and Agility, Precision or Clarity, one make you better with your weapon but the other help you know what is going on in a melee.

1. you're wrong
2. it objectively cannot beat paulbonner (80s-90s) or karl Kopsiniski (00s) or even Adrian smith (80-10s)
that's like ignoring the myriad of others, if your thing is (current art is better than blanche) you're a fucking retard.
blanche is a concept artist

It really does. So much art looks unappealing now that you know ai can do it and you get this instant association, even if it isn't ai. Looking at art online is just a lot less enjoyable now for that reason. Shit's fugged.

Whatever this low-res smeared texture look is can artists please stop, it looks so digital and bad. Adding the purple and some color could be cool, but keep the grimdark artstyle please.

I like smith but cmon, use another of his work besides this one. The backgrounds fine but the goblins themselves are bad.

8th edition effectively killed this setting and franchise. The setting progression destroyed it all man. How would we fix Warhammer?

oh, also,
>P-people on both sides innovate
obviously not according to your previous posts
>Yes they were liberals, but they count as conservative now
Yeah, this is known by everyone, and has no real purpose in this conversation. Shit gets more liberal over time in general, as it's very hard to prevent the future from happening.
Conservative stasis is almost impossible in any kind of developed economy.

Yeah, to be a child, and to grow up as an adult with a functioning brain and be able to separate the real life from the fiction and realise the former does not matter in the latter.
>obviously not
I like to give the old left, the ones that where not dragged into the insane rainbow purity cult, the benefit of still being left, inspite of them now being rejected and called "rightoids" now.
>shit gets more liberal over time
Actually it sort of sways back and forth, and for the most part politics like to stay in the middle, with both sides making fun of the extremists.
You also need to read a dictionary, "liberal" does not mean what you think it means.

Imagine being this butt hurt about primaris.
>>96479214
I like "wherever the fuck the Nids are invading" it's fine to see primaris gave non Ork xenos more of a spotlight.

We could use more Orks vs Tyranids though.

No you idiot, you have just infiltrated all the larger creative institutions. Institutions that were created by people you would now call evil white men.
Everything you do create seems to be hated. The evidence is so consistent we have names for it.
All the new things made outside this system by people you hate is just small scale because they dont have institutions.
The creatives of the past didnt have their puritans working next to them, thats our new environment and so naturally you wierdly religious leftyists mistake yourselves for actual creatives.

Rightists do try to make cool things its just everytime they attempt they have people threaten to murder them and their entire family for doing wrongthink, see Scott Cawthon for example.

I have been playing and running Draw Steel's playtest since August of last year, and have since moved on to the release version. I recently ran a brief level 5 game. This is my play report: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Be1a7GJ1gjK7SqYQWZmxA2Tx_nIF6vRcTNqOKuUUQ3g/edit

The full version is above, but to summarize:

• I had four players. One had already played the system a fair bit, and had experience with grid-based tactical games like D&D 4e and ICON. The other three were new, but also had experience with tactical games.

• I set this in the timescape's space-fantasy upper worlds, in a UNISOL-aligned manifold. The story began with a counterattack on the fleet of Lord Syuul, and culminated in delving into the minds of two Space Gods to save a planetary system.

• I kept basic numerical statistics transparent, but enemy traits and abilities opaque.

• Negotiations were received poorly by the players. They felt too rote (uncover, appeal, uncover, appeal, repeat), and it quickly became evident that some PCs should just step back and let the characters with relevant perma-edges (e.g. High Elf Glamor) handle everything.

• Montages had a somewhat better reception, but the players still were not too warm on them. They just do not like 4e-style skill challenges.

• Combat was the most well-received facet of the system. The consensus seemed to be "decent, would definitely play again, but nothing special compared to other grid-based tactical games we have already played."

Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.

seems like alotta hoops to jump through when better games exits

The troubadour's player is writing up their own post-adventure report. It will be ready when it is ready, maybe in a day or so as of the time of this message.

>>96497926

I think that Draw Steel is decent enough for a grid-based tactical RPG. I would not discount it.
>>
>>96497917
Edna, have you considered just starting a touhoufag general so you aren't constantly shitting up the board with your autism across several threads? You've got like three up right now.
>>
>>96497917
Nice. Been wanting to hear more from this system.
>>96497926
>but nothing special compared to other grid-based tactical games
What games do they consider better?
>>
>>96497917

>• Another pain point was the sheer complexity, leading to slowdown. Maybe it was because three of the players were new, but mid-level combat felt significantly more complex than mid-level 4e combat, in large part due to the constantly fluctuating Heroic Resource pools.
And this is before we get into tracking surges on each PC, and on each attack...

>Nice. Been wanting to hear more from this system.
Thank you. I am genuinely invested in Draw Steel, but I am not going to ignore its shortcomings.

>What games do they consider better?
In my case, the shadow's player seems to like D&D 4e more than Draw Steel, while the troubadour's player looks to prefer Tom Abbadon's ICON 2.0 (or at least the current pre-pre-pre-alpha of it, anyway).
