>>96590244Gundam has no legs and won't be played in five years. Original set will likely hold some value but I wouldn't bet on it for anything else.Sorcery is intentionally trying to be scalper heaven. There is no player base, it's all investors. Which means the bubble will burst and nothing will be worth anything, someone will be left holding the bag.
>>96590143Yeah theyre fine and comparable to dragon shield clear classic. I would still choose nearly any dragon shield over them for playing more than a board game occasionally though. Great value for putting in a binder or box. Wouldn't pay more than 11usd
>>96590421again where do you get this? gundam is the game people talk about in this thread more than any other, it is outselling one piece, its a bigger franchise that has been around for longer, there are numerous reasons for it to stick around. also i don't you you know anything about sorcery the city i live in has one of the biggest communities there are in person events like 4 days out of the week from the dedicated player base around here

>>96590569nta, but bandai games are infamous for burning fast and bright, and then getting dumped the second sales show even the slightest sign of slowing. you don't have to take anyone's word for it, just look at their publishing history. count how many games they've kept going past the initial hype wave.it's not really anything to do with the quality of the game or the popularity of the IP. just an inevitable side effect of getting picked up by a publisher whose MO is to milk a game as hard as possible as fast as possible and then toss it out on the roadside for the next shiny thing that comes along.

At least, last I checked. It doesn’t seem to be doing as popularly as DC hoped and Hippolyta’s involvement on Olympus as a goddess seems to be winding down, so following historical trends it’s likely going to revert in another year or so. Or maybe not. Nubia is a black woman after all.

>>96589760Oh, yeah, I asked Delta himself, said I could translate sections of his book. And yes, the italian community has a lot of NuOSR shit, but also some old school dudes, in general it was not considered much here. Regardless I released it for free to give back to the community, at least a little bit.Regarding the translation in english all this material is already there in english, I would basically just need to point people to the books and then they can do the frankenstein themselves, so I dunno the utility of that.In short is: BX core (level 1-14) + extra classes monsters and procedures from AD&D, mass combat from Delta + ACKS domain management, spell creation and item creation + spells from the Vancian Supplement. And that's it basically. If we are precise I took the magic items from LL Advanced, the classes are slightly modified and added a few house rules (tables for alternative advancement when leveling up for example), but that's it in general.I believe the english community has no need for this, but if you guys show interest I'll consider translating, sadly I'll have to leave out the Delta Book of War stuff, since I received permission only for the italian publishing.
>>96589833I really wouldn't underestimate the value of taking the best of all those sources, harmonising them, cross-referencing it all, and releasing everything in one place.I didn't take a closer look, but it seems like it's pretty much an ACKS lite, which would be a great thing to have.

Hey peeps, could someone update the version of lancer npcs rebaked on the thread post? Thanks in advance
I've done a very bad job of maintaining the list of "All Mecha Games". It's at tinyurl (dot that com) (give it a slash) allmechaAnyone notice any missing titles? Like, what's that new game by the Games Workshop veteran? ZeoFrame or something? I know there are many more that are missing. I wanna fix that.

>>96590113wrong thread. anon said "wood elves", not "Wooued Aelves (tm)".
>>96589485>>96589777aright. gonna take a few to compile in to human readable form. it's been worked on by me and my group for ages so it's spread across multiple documents, notes, hieroglyphics, a chunk of it is just shared assumptions. but I'll give some summary since every design decision you make is bound to be a red flag for somebody.>How to make a listyou start with the Commander (ie caster), who has a points/slots for stat boosts, spells, abilities, and perks (basically lores that unlock groups of abilities that need to be balled together). All the different caster types share a set of common core rules and are differentiated by what they control and how those things work. strictly speaking it doesn't even have to direct-control things or be a spellcaster, it's possible to make a commander that's just a really skilled general or something if you want.what's allowed in the commander's battlegroup is based on the options you took during design. and the you do other battlegroups led by officers who use basically the same system but have fewer points/slots, and then their battlegroups. so typically it would be B1 - warcaster + jacks + support, B2 - officer with a unit, B3 - officer with a smaller unit + couple solos. you can scale up the number of battlegroups for different size games. and the officers can also be junior casters or whatever, lots of options.>Game Flow / Structurethe way we've been doing it is alternating activation by battlegroup. technically there's nothing stopping it from flipping back to pure IGOUGO but I like this better. when a battlegroup activates, everything in it takes its move then action in an order of your choice. Everything also wants to stay in the commander/officer's command bubble except for some extended range shit, so usually shit stays together and you don't have to worry about forgetting which things are in which group.
>>96590605>One Roll for attack resolutionthis took some work, but I like it. and it does a ton to speed the game up, reducing total rolling by half or 2/3rd. basic idea when it started was usually only one of the sequential rolls matter anyway. you only need to hit infantry, you only need to damage jacks/beasts. so just focus on that part that counts.it ended up being a little more complex than that to get a good differentiation between all types of defenses and weapons, but it still ends up feeling like WMH-ish attacks. you roll 2d6 against a defense stat, it can be boosted, extra dice can be added, and every point above the defense is damage. units have typing to their defenses, chosen from a short list, and weapons that are strong against a particular defense (like a Blast weapon attacking something that is relying on Dodge) get extra dice. it's pretty simple to calc and it works better than you think. plus it lets you get rid of a lot of special rules since they're just baked in to the stat.>(Some) Zone Terrainone change I really like from after 2nd was the change to forests where it encourages you to be all the way in or all the way out. Toeing in is not incentivized. that opens the door to treating more terrain pieces as discrete small zones where you need enough move to fully enter but the precise location of a model in it is ignored. which means you can have 3d terrain again, no fucking flat tables. the rules are still there for linear and area terrain, they're not gone, but if you have a 3d terrain piece then you can use it without trouble.
Warhammer fantasy and 40K should have been grid-based wargames. None of this fucking around with rulers and debating whether something is half an inch short.
>>96590105>None of this fucking around with rulers and debating whether something is half an inch short. This isn't a problem at all in non-competitive gameplay, which miniatures wargames inherently are meant to be. It's only an issue whem "people" try to turn a game medium into something it fundamentally is not.Grid-based games are also good. They both have their place. And because someone will chime in:>OH, SO YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO TRY AND WIN?!?!? Ur supposed to hold hands with your opponent and just tell a story together??? Thaz gay and dumb, lol!!!No, within the context of the game, you are still competing, but with the understanding that the higher narrative takes priority. If this is too difficult to comprehend, I would recommend taking up something like chess, go, or backgammon instead, all of which are meant for pure competition.
>>96590161How can something be inherently non-competitive
>>96590180Miniatures wargames are a narrative endeavor. You're still commanding your army to the best of your ability in order to win (though making sub-optimal, but fun "in-character" decisions is also welcome, and often a better approach: "I wouldn't do this, because it's irrational, but the leader or my army/these dudes would"), but when it comes to things like:- Army creation/composition- unfun/illogical official rulings...you should be giving priority to what makes sense narratively, not what is "teh most l33t, lolz"Or, to problems like:- "Is this model in line-of-sight?"- Uncertain/contradictory rulebook text...you should not be a sweaty try-hard with no friends, and instead approach the game as a gentleman's activity. The reward is the gameplay and interaction. Nobody on earth is impressed if you won a toy soldier game.Pic very related. That is the world of the compfag.
>>96590180Or a shorter answer: tabletop RPGs. You can't "win" an RPG. At best, you survive. They're an inherently non-competitive game medium.
>>96590258Wargames are just bad for the narrative format 90% of the time. People interested in RPing graviate towards games where you have a single unit because they can invest themselves a person, not an army. The wargame attracts the comp types who see the event as something to win/lose and they build/play accordingly.

One year ago I made a thread about making a setting. I'm nearly done. For /tg/ does get the shit done. I want to add one more monster as a tribute to this board. Post ideas, monster art, sketches, slop, whatever. >basic setting concept:Reverse Underdark.A setting about floating islands in the sky. A magic rock, Cloudstone, made by Giants of old makes the island fly. Gold is plenty and can be created at high enough altitude by several monsters.

But realistically having an opinion by someone external can jolt you into working more.
>>96590172>I rememmber reading the first page of that one. Time to read all of it.It's good. IMO, it's one of the better currently running manga. It's not just some iseki harem slop or superhero trash but about a working crew doing a dangerous job.Another one I think you could get some inspiration from is Saturn Apartments. It's a scifi about window cleaners on a low orbit habitat. I describe it to friends as comfy cyberpunk but there's a lot about them dealing with life at altitude and working outside.

trackhand trainer works well with gogo in brawl.at worst, it's 2 mana to make an enchantment that makes creature abilities (including gogo's copy ability) 2 mana cheaper. If you copy it with gogo, that'll make future abilities 2 cheaper for each copy, which supercharges the amount of ability copies you'll be able to get with gogo. And if you can't afford to copy it multiple times, even copying the exhaust once will let you draw cards for 1 mana off of trainer's other ability. Thank you for reading my post.

>>96585171I love Hidalgo, which I believe is the closest we'll ever come to an El Borak adaptation. There were a few decent ones after that, though. Day of the Falcon, a.k.a Black Gold, came extremely close to a good old-fashioned portrayal of an exotic land of danger and adventure. Another setting I'm fond of is British-ruled India, my favorite being the novel and film The Deceivers, about a fictional officer who infiltrates the Thuggee cult. Everything from ruthless dacoits armed with khanjars and jezails in the deserts and mountains to now long-gone deadly jungles full of tigers and leopards is how I imagine India and the "stan" countries.
>>96590325>Another setting I'm fond of is British-ruled IndiaI used pic related soooo many fucking times as a premise of the campaign... and people never fucking realise they've been had
>>96590466Checked, and while the budget showed, that was a great Sharpe episode, and the same applies to Peril. Africa is also great, with authors such as Wilbur Smith and Edgar Rice Burroughs being the main inspirations. Exotic settings in general add flavor to any adventure, from books to films to tabletop. Maybe someday the world will be ready for a throwback to that in the form of a one-shot or campaign module.
