Monk in 2e isnt even that bad. It just needed a few quality of life buffs but the remaster completely skipped it while buffing other martial classes (Same with the Ranger).

Minor changes
> Unarmed attacks have Parry inbuilt and you cant use shields. Stances with Parry give you a +2 bonus instead.

EXPEDITION is a ~1880s era, Jules Verne-inspired retro-futurist, underground blood soaked adventurescape.
It is a Skirmish wargame. Two players with their own expeditions, on a hexgrid map, explore & fight each other for victory and profit.

I think it could do with some tweaking, especially if you want to get humour through, but it's a good basic overview. Though, I would say that while Cunningham likes using the navy to bombard places he wants, he's one of the few to recognise that an alliance with Atlantis and everyone else who's reasonable is badly needed. The way I think of him is that he's a prepper who got put in charge of the fleet and what he's prepping for is the Napoleon/Hyperborean Deluge Extravaganza.

Also, I completely refuse to believe that Duke "Sink Atlantis Again" Cunningham wants anything to do with them. He looked at the friendliest underground power and did the ONE THING that could make them mad by contesting their layer with Beatrice Shores.
My take on the man is that he is the utter rejection of Agarthan weirdness personified. He's not going to rest until everything down there is sensible and normal, and if that means he needs to burn it all down then so be it.

I'll try for the funnywriting later when I can find the time. In the meanwhile I'll also try to finally put the Keshiq together since the blu-tak fell off.

See, the way I see it is that Cunningham knows that the Atlanteans are happy in their stagnation, a bit improved with the Revolution and the king, but they need something else to kick them into gear before something worse comes along, and Rakkad ain't gonna do it. Why else would he wave the red flag at the bull? I feel like writing him as some RVLE Britannia guy is too simple, he's someone who understands what's coming, but he's resisting the temptation of a Faustian bargain that Napoleon and Malcolm took, instead going all in on politicking and sheer industrial might.

Games were between 3,5 - 4h. I first tought we could get it sub 3, but as it turns out having some experience and knowing the rules just meant less time there but more time spent listening to the other teams discussions and trying to.counterplay them. Which is both real fun but also drags the game on for a bit more than I'd like.
It's kind of a miracle it works so well, the game really seems like it originally was a free for all doam game turned into a team game last minute

What are some interesting, original, or smooth-working elemental interaction systems in card-based games, be it TCGs or boardgames?

I'm not talking about just sorting game assets in various elements/factions that are sometimes used by card effects (like in Yu-Gi-Oh), but the way the elements themselves interact and play off eachother. For example, in Pokémon attacks of a certain type do more/less/double/halved damage to other types depending on the Type matrix.

The question might or might not be related to my shitty homebrew MtG clone game, but don't mind that.

On that note some RPGs classify ice as water for simplicity, plus ice would just melt into water and snuff the fire. But it's also fun to think of it behaving like reverse water cause I don't think ice conducts electricity very well but is melted by fire.

Water gets boiled, changes shape into AIR (no effect on fire, but actually fuels it in some cases).

Without repeating my previous 'review' of it and the mechanics: Most of my whinge about WanG holds, but it's also managed to annihilate all the equipment variety in exchange for adding in keywords that you pay extra for, make even basic mooks feel like bullet sponges (I think a basic mook takes three lasgun shots to put down? It's been a bit, can't really remember, sorry), make combat feel almost random at times and somehow make psykers even less useful. Oh, and they need an editor desperately. One who is being paid more than minimum wage and has the authority to make actual changes.

Short version, they have listened to their farseers once: To abandon the empire before the fall. After that they decided that shit was for little girls and the word of a farseer has slightly less weight than redlining your jetbike - fucking awesome, but what if you can go faster instead? They spend their time getting their cocks out to wave at Ulthwe farseers, picking fights with Necrons who are bothering exodites (or bothering literally nobody because fuck the Necrons) and going F A S T. They're sort of like buddhist biker maniacs, actually. Ascendance through wisdom, speed and violence.

Also they seriously can't stop poking Necrons. It was a big thing in.. I'm pretty sure it was one of the ynnari books?

Wild Rider, that's the book. The Ynnari wanted something, and one of the potentates of Saim Hann wanted to fuck the Wych that Yvraine had sent as a diplomat, so naturally the potentate immediately signs up the entire craftworld FOR HONOUR and also seggs.

But basically they're slightly less civilised white scars. Speed freaks and easily amused.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. I hate Foundry because it's over-complicated, clunky, and because useless things like LOS and dynamic lighting are baked into the product. But, everyone seems to love it. What am I missing? Am I truly the only GM who despises line-of-sight and sound effects and all that video game shit? I don't want to carefully curate an experience, I want to run a game.

I'm sorry some of your players are shitasses, anon. I only play that game through Foundry these days, so we just use the VTT sheets. But way back before Comp/CON I ran the game live, using paper sheets, and it wasn't bad. Maybe you can insist on going analog again, if the screens are becoming a distraction.

Sometimes, it is because saying "this thing happens" will prompt an argument about "but I should be allowed to roll!" And the GM would rather not have that argument. Maybe this isn't even railroading! Maybe the players are just babies. But it is usually about railroading or protecting some pet NPC.
Sometimes, it is because the GM's best friend has been pouring his heart and soul into the session, but the dice keep kicking him in the nuts. The GM wants to give him a win when things are at their most dire. But it is vastly less memorable, less fun, if the GM just says "nah, you hit him because you're cool."
I have never done either of these. But I can understand the temptation.
