>>97457043To add to this, just the lore that's been written is being used, not the old (and also incomplete) game rules that've been recovered. The new game runs on the Year Zero Engine because it's fairly rules light and narrative focused, and also already has light resource gathering/management and survival game elements in place since that's also part of the esthetic of the setting.
>>97457340Nice! NGL, I was a teen when the first go around on this happened and I was very excited for it, seeing it go down in flames like that sucked. I really hope you guys pull it off!But probably would be best if the project moved off 4chan. Not only because it would concentrate actually committed people in one place and limit trolls and drive bys, but also the internet has changed a lot and I think a lot of the people who would love this game would be very put off if it was a modern 4chan project

You ever feel that some players have a weird obsession with - basically - upending a setting's status quo and otherwise making 'big changes'? I'm not sure I'm phrasing it correctly, but let me give it an example. The party's Warlock really, really resents being under a pact and really resents the Gods. He feels that they're all tyrants and shouldn't be worshipped. As the party's Cleric, and a devout Cleric, I think I annoy the shit out of him just by actually LIKING the Gods and the current system. Which can't be changed anyway, because it's fundamental to how the game is played. It's like they're projecting some kind of iconoclastic tendencies onto the campaign world, even when it's explicitly not Christian morality. I'm playing to have adventures in the setting, not change it drastically.
>>97455291>I just become the new power, that's all.And unless you're planning on acting exactly like the old power did you're enacting change.>So obviously I'm not a fan of the latter.I got that, but it doesn't justify you being surprised enough to make a thread about people liking it, especially in a game where murderhoboing your way into changing the world is so much more feasible than IRL.>changes the setting on a level that it can't accomodate.Anything can be accomodated if your GM deems it possible. I think you want a kind of permanence that's incompatible, not only with history, but with the expectations that bring a lot of people to the hobby.>>97455320Cleric and Warlock relate to DnD though, where a guy named Vacna became one of the fucking "gods" you so desperately want to worship from distance without touching. Shit, if we keep to Warhammer, didn't Sigmar start as a human?I'm not saying you're wrong in liking things the way you do, but your surprised at differing tastes is weird.
>>97455349To be honest, I mainly dislike the Warlock for trying to get us off-track and annoying me. I'm perfectly happy to play this completely conventionally, and there's this guy who is trying to take us off on a weird tangent. I've already resolved to stop healing him whenever possible.
>>97455378If that's the case then don't pose the thread as questioning anyone who generically has his worldview IC, it's kinda misleading. If the player's antics keep you from the part you like about the game then sure, not engaging is the quickest way to end it and get back on track, but he can likewise pose himself against parts he doesn't like (like helping gods, even the good ones). Without more specific info I can't give much more input than this, I just find it weird if it keeps happening repeatedly, as a GM I would make whatever bullshit reasons to keep the game moving if a player interrupted too much because of ideology (unless it played in an interesting way into the game's plot). If he's consistent with his hatred of outer entities then not healing him is a good call, though as a GM I'd pay attention to it if you were breaking your god's ideals by doing it.Maybe give me further context, storytime even, as of now I can't say he's wrong and you're right.

I mean it's a perfect game and easily modifiedable. Why should i learn an entirely new system when this stuff just works. what makes it worthwhile to play another game? If there any recommendations, feel free to tell me what's a good game. >d20 system. literally the perfect mechanics>want to do scifi? change the melee weapons to lightsabers etc.>want do do horror? curse of stradh is already there. just copy the vibes>like 5e is insanely hombrewable and easy to play
We are using the quick start rules
>>97432489current state of the game is shit, but 5e in itself is not a bad system, just needs to be polished. it heavyly rely on homebrew/community stuff to have good and more content but also that's it main strenght. there's so many players and so much content about it, so many groups available and willing to teach each other how to play, one can learn to play by social osmosis, but it's not even near to being one of the easiest games and it's also one of the most expensive if you want to DM and have an experience above "whiteboard marker on a grided plastic sheet and paper minis"
>>97455210We are trying dcc. Let see how it goes down the line

It says a lot about /exg/ that arguing if a bus is a building is one of the most sensible arguments I've seen here.
>>97457637The line between building and vehicles, can be very blurry at times
>>97457661I think buses are edge case mostly because there's a fairly wide range in what would be considered a bus. London's double deckers like picrel I'd lean more towards a manse, and most other kinds of bus with multiple compartments I'd probably think the same. On the other hand, I could see an argument for the Magic School Bus with a pretty straightforward power and idea of what it can do leaning more towards being an artifact.
>>97457698I'd definitely not handle a bus of any size, or, say, a train, or a ship, as a Manse. Not necessarily even all magical buildings - if you have, like, a seed of green jade that'll sprout into a comfy hut when planted, with the hut then withering to nothing and leaving behind only that same seed when you tap a specific part of it, well, that sounds like an Artifact to me.
>>97457733Even if you can live in an artifact bus/train/ship and count it as a home, it's probably not going to have all the bells and whistles that a powerful manse provides you

>>97457463You think you're being clever but historical wargaming is a very different world than your Wehlre Lucerda whatever stuff is jerked off lately. The big companies very much have a roster of designers for decades and when they freelance or are allowed to take a design elsewhere it is considered a big deal. When volkos (I think) pirate game got pulled from GMTs p500 2 years ago they made sure when it got picked up again they advertised the competitor on their newsletter that he was going to release under.Or tldr, most boardgaming is like golf or racing sports team for personnel importance, wargaming is like the nba or nhl.
