>>97222225High Tide was the single best example as to why powerlevel shouldn't be the only motivator behind bans. No, I don't want to watch you have a 30 minute turn and not even be able to concede because you can still faceplant at the finish line. Your deck takes forever and it often doesn't even win lmao.

>>97222970Sincerely playing against high tide was some of the least fun I’ve ever had playing magic. At least when affinity is raping me I’m feeling some sort of emotion, even if it is indescribable rage. Going against high tide in MTGO meant either a game where nothing happens at all or a game where I pass turn for 25 minutes and wait to see if I lose.
>>97222985you also have counterplay against affinity. against high tide you either snipe a couple of them with duress or you hope the opponent bricks

>>97218754Impressive... but that guy would just be stuck in your starting zone because there is no way he can manuver through dense killteam terrain, so you would most likely lose on points
>>97221316>no way he can manoeuvre
>>97215105It’s the opposite. I don’t care that much about the lore but i likewise don’t want to play against some ballaching metafag which is the majority of people i’ve met in KT so far. To claim that you just want to “throw some dice” is absurd when metafags are the least casual players you can go against. My last game had my opponent go over the entire meta leaderboard status of the top teams and how the newest dataslate could impact the upcoming this and that other fuckin tournament. Who gives a shit. >>97216044I’ve never met the latter in my life in any game. I would find a /yourdudes/ autist pretty annoying i’m sure but i’ve yet to even meet one to make this observation. The most fun games are somewhere in the middle where it’s a good clean fun game where the rules are observed but both sides remember that we are trying to simulate dudes fighting eachother and not merely moving spreadsheets around
>>97222716>both sides remember that we are trying to simulate dudes fighting eachother and not merely moving spreadsheets aroundNot instigating anything, but what would this look like to you? And how would it impact the game or enhance the enjoyment of the battle? I ask because used to live in a place where our local spot tried to implement a sort of narrative campaign but it ended up just being limply implemented and mostly limited to a whiteboard map that got colored in depending on what faction (Chaos, Xenos, Imperium) won the most games in any given week. For me, KT has fun rules and good game design so just the act of playing is enjoyable; you could strip out the flavor of the teams and it still would be enjoyable on a mechanical level. Obviously the flavor is what adds the special spice to the game, getting to interact with the factions/setting you like and all that comes with that, but at its heart KT is still a warGAME to me.

>>97223005Small mats that function as the base for terrain, they're made by gamemat iirc. Helps to define the boundaries of area terrain like ruins. Storage space is limited, so the terrain bases don't have any base plate attached to them.
>>97223007Fuck off, none of the units that have heavy need a durability boost
>>97222943I've also played at least once a week since release, and in my experience the army that sits in a corner cowering and doing nothing but shooting generally wins. For context, we use player placed terrain (rulebook rules + allotment, so 6 impassables that we also treat as heavy, 4 6x6 medium area terrains and 2 10x10 medium area terrains)Most games end with both players at max primaries but the shooting castle scores Last Man Standing and First Strike which means they win.
I think the shoulders on tbe new termies and drwad would look cool with grave digger style art
>>97223158That sounds so much difference from my experience. How is the castling player clearing objectives and keep units on them without moving out of their corner? How do they deal with multiple units in Rhinos rushing in and charging them turn 1 or 2?Every time I've seen somebody try to do the sit in a corner and only shoot they struggle to get LOS to units in time, can't force enemy units off objectives and get their own scoring units on it in the same turn, and have one or two elite melee units that come flying into their ranks which start rolling up all the shooting units.

In your game, do you treat bows as strength- or dexterity-based weapons?
>>97223103Like all weapons in my game, the quality of the weapon, the user's technique rating associated with the weapon, and her strength rating, modified by the skill used, determines effectiveness.
>puckee spamStrength requirements, Ranged skill. You don't put more strength into your draw, that's some video games bullshit. Once you hit the strength requirements to reliably draw the bow, all that's left is hitting more precise. And that's governed by hand-eye-coordination, perception and your skill with ranged weapons.

For every 2 points of Dex above 10, add 1 to your roll to hit. For every 3 points of Dex above 10, make an additional attack per attack action at a cumulative -2 penalty. For every 4 points of Dex above 10, increase the crit range of the weapon by 1.For every 2 points of Str above 10, increase the damage of the weapon by 1. For every 3 points of Str above 10, you can reroll 1 damage die per attack. >>97218509thanks a lot! any other games you would recommend for solo play?
>>97221074Think I've already given you enough recommendations for a few dozen hours of play but oh well. For solo make sure to stay away from Card-Driven games. And again chit pull is your friend, after Reds you could play more Ted Raicer games like The Dark Sands. Ambon Burning Sun might be another good one, with the invasion mechanic you're not controlling enormous unwieldy forces which you struggle to forget which counters have moved, it's self-contained beach heads.Non-hex games I've recently enjoyed are Operation Bollebank and Habsburg Eclipse, which are dedicated solo only.I see that you are in a terrible timezone so I'm not going to offer any multiplayer with you but maybe someone else in this thread or in /bgg/ might.

BBEG should possess magic abilities >Player characters European presenting male fighters only, maximum one low level hedge wizard or shaman>Races All NPCs and PC should be human, finding a non-human village like elves should be extremely rare, unlikely, and magical experience

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere.Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency. If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. >>97222115Nah, 3E as a whole, for all its flaws, is definitely Exalted and obviously written by people who care a whole lot about Exalted. The worst parts about 3E, setting aside the mechanical issues of the core, aren't ones where the writers seem like they'd want to write something else but ones where they half-ass things due to obviously being embarrassed of something from the past editions but simultaneously too fond of that something to really let go and change things. I mean things like Raksi being sort of a cannibal monster still but kind of not, or Lilith, or Lover, or, to a lesser extent, Ipithymia.

>>97222984It would get better if you would psot your models.
>>97223139I'm poor :(
The focus on competitive tournament faggotry has made 40k one of the most bland wargames I have ever played>Do you see it getting betterNo, luckily enough older players felt the same and there's a couple classic 40k rulesets hanging around. Not to mention being able to go back and play whatever edition I want, it's just a shame I miss out on the huge player pool of mainstream 40k.
I haven't bought a model since like 2023 maybe early 2024. When I bought Dante he was like $35. What the fuck happened? This is legit robbery.
>>97222488They are all vastly different games. Blood Bowl isn’t a wargame it’s closer to chess with variance and many sets of unique pieces.
>>97222553These are British prices, Americans tend to pay at least 20 bucks extra for all Warhammer stuff.
>>97218744GW likes to cover production and design costs of new models and storage cost of older stock by increasing the cost of 40k units. This keeps the profit margins positive even if not every unit sells.
