How would you humanize enemy mooks even if the players have to put them down at the end of day? How do you make it so that players leaving piles of corpses in their wake is not a trivial matter?

I don't mean to imply that WW1 disproves christian theological doctrine (which is largely irrelevant to the average person's understanding of christianity anyway), I'm just pointing out what historically happened in Europe at the time. WW1 was largely the final nail in the coffin of christianity at a societally relevant scale.

go back in time 100 years, murder 20 people, and see how many were carrying tearjerking letters from their children in their pockets

I like to establish human and demihuman enemies as at least being as smart as the PCs and will use all the tools in their repertoire as any party might while more monstrous encounters will more stringently adhere to their statblock and descriptor for their behavior. It sells the idea you're fighting a person.

Would Valar-aligned Orcs even be considered Orcs, or cursed elves?

Ah classic. Christianity is not relevant because bad things happen in the world even though the religion itself rose precisely because of all the bad shit happening to them. Christianity becomes more and more relevant, the worse things get.

▶What is Kingdom Death?
Kingdom Death is a tabletop miniature brand stared by Adam Poots and operated by himself and his Team that later spun off into a miniature based bored game funded by two very successful Kickstarter campaigns.

▶What is Kingdom Death: Monster?
Monster is a Nightmare Horror cooperative boss battler/miniature hobby game for 1-4 players about hope in a strange world of bizarre monstrosities and perpetually darkness. Players take on the role of survivors that band together to form a settlement, fighting monsters, crafting weapons and gear, and developing their civilization to ensure survival from generation to generation.

Prologue Narration: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNLc8dHv0Ac

The Game is broken up into 3 phases:
1. During your Hunt Phase your band of survivors traverse the world of KD in pursuit of their quarry.
2. After successfully tracking your quarry you will begin the Showdown Phase, where you must fell these horrific creatures in order to acquire precious resources.
3. After the battle, your survivors wander home with loot in hand to begin the Settlement Phase. Arm yourself by developing new weapons and bizarre structures to prepare for next year's hunt.

>Instructions mainly tell you what goes where; they don't necessarily give you the proper order for what you want to do
Yes, in retard fucking world, your world, perhaps it works like that sure
In this world, if your paper doesn't have the correct assembly order, that's just schematics
INSTRUCTION on normal world INSTRUCT you the way of doing something, and obviously DO NOT leave stuff to the interpretation of the nigger that needs the instructions
Well maybe in your word, the retard word, "instructions" are like that, sure that's a possibility
>>
>>97392774
Nta, but i have seen a few of the survivor builds on thw site not updated for some survivors that got more/less parts. I think it's can remember lion knight girls and some of the parts in 10 year survivors. Also, let's not forget the absolute peak of customer assistance that is showing the peices going on the back of the model, but not show a single image of the back of the model and where it goes. Pic related is one example, and its a peice with specific grooved part on it, but dose not fit easily anywhere I can see. Dung beetle is another example with the eye stalks or whatever on the back.

>nemesis fights desu
Look you absolute knuckle dragging simian; if you put two subpar items into a core set and then put an instant-kill that's associated with those two items, you are telling your average player to not bring those. I don't think calling me a pussy and then bringing up nemesis fights is a good argument. Nemesis hunts account for 7 on average in a campaign, and even then, you probably have better things to do with your gear 99% of the time. I am saying that the game is pushing even mid-experienced players away from bringing these items on a core game experience, but this doesn't even account for all the expansions that focus on this gear (smoggos).
Generate an actual argument next time instead of just wiping your ass with your bare hand and then reading the shit streaks to generate your response.

So this boils down to one of two issues from either side of the table, player and DM

Player: they are new and have not/can not/will not move past the fact that game is in the title. A gamer is looking for every advantage, every resource, every edge they can have against the enemy (the gm). They are too used to extraneous npc dialogue, sidequests that can be completed in 5 minutes, every character having intimate knowledge of the situation at hand to some degree. It takes some experience to divine when the DM is describing the scene in order to help the imagination and when a description is a key to a puzzle or a clue to the story.

DM: The worldbuilding has taken place of actual prep. The world around is too much. My players know that my motto is that anything I say, no matter how inane, random or small, has meaning to the campaign. They know that if it doesn't matter, I won't say anything. Conversely, if they want to deviate into a back alley or shop and create a dialogue or interaction, I will easily blend it into the story in a meaningful way. A lot of times when describing places or areas, to avoid word salad that might confuse, I will say to imagine several things combined like the party at one point ventured up into one of the Three High Cities which I described as a combination of the layout of Edoras, terrain of Skypeia and the building styles of Sanghelios. Visuals achieved, no word salad, no getting hung up on details that can be misconstrued as something important.

Use one of the Dan Coleman adventures. Bad Apples is a good one because it's 3rd level, the recommended starting level. It's basically just going around a spooky orchard. Some puzzles, exploration, combat. Some RPing in the village at the start if you're into that sort of thing.

I enjoyed a wild sheep chase as well. Depends on how much your party will enjoy terrible puns.

Not sure where to ask this question but this seems to be the best place since you can't ask meta questions on /qst/.
Would daggerheart lend itself well to a quest? My idea was to start a worldbuiling project where I run both an irl game and a quest, and I want to use the same system and setting for both, with them occasionally interacting. At the same time I'm kinda interested in daggerheart as a system and want to try it, so that's why I landed on that.
Can I get some inputs and ideas?
I'm aware this thread is likely to be either ignored or incendiary but I like to fuck around and find out
>>
>>97399973
I don't have an answer to your question OP but
>you can't ask meta questions on /qst/.
Damn, they really set that place up to fail. They should have just made it a /tg/ 2.0 for the generals and quests. The fags from the generals could at least help populate the quests.

>Therefore, only those people willing to put in the effort to be a quest author should post threads. If you do not intend to run a collaborative story, do not post a thread here! This includes meta-threads
I can't
>>
>>97399973
As someone who ran a few quests way back in the day, I'd say no system that exists is really made for quests. You need to make a system that suits your particular quest and is easily understood by whoever is coming and going at any given time you are running things.

From what I understand of Daggerheart, you have two meta-currencies to juggle. Hope, for player characters to use many of their abilities and fudge rolls, which would be a pain in the ass to resolve in a thread format. Imagine every action players asking to perform needing to then go through whether or not to use tags or activate abilities or whatever.

Then there's Fear, which is the GM's meta-currency for making things more dangerous, escalating problems, giving baddies extra attacks, or whatever. Again, everything that happens in the quest needing you to decide if and when you're going to activate an interrupting interjection while you are already juggling one or more player characters being controlled by several random assholes.

This would be a bad way to try the system and a not especially successful quest, in my estimation.
>>
>>97400042
Thanks for the input, what systems were you using back then? Has anyone ever shared a system made for quests specifically?

A term used by idiots. Basically the game was initially planned as complete from the kickstarter. When it proved to have legs, they decided to release additional (optional) units in plastics rather than STLs.
Some morons interpreted the kickstarter terms (STL releases) as applying to all future releases and are butthurt about it.

Given a good majority of people here are Archfags and havent kept up with dick about TC im going to explain why this map is almost completely fine
1. In multiple interviews they have mentioned they plan on expanding the narrative of TC through events. Unlike Warhammer, this world is not purposely stagnant with zero consequences to plot updates. They mention they want to do frequent Cadia level events.
2. This map opens up several possiblities for new factions and interesting ideas, if Hell just owned the world there wouldnt be anything else to explore. We see shit like a Baba Yaga cabin, Levithans, theres Mythical Factions heavily hinted at here.
3. You just want warhammer, you just want the eye of terror and ultramar or some shit. Not everything is a stagnant big world where Chaos owns 80% of the world yet losses every battle and never makes any ground. You would think Le Good Guy enjoyers would like a world where Good Guys are visually holding their own against Hell. Doesnt that live up to your fantasies?
4. Hell basically owns the oceans, if you add the ocean as the Hell owned territory you would be a lot more scared of them

I know this is a spam thread, but it's funny this gets brought up now of all times, since I'm in a game where this applies. As a member of the city watch outriders (which is something my GM made up for our game who venture beyond the thin slice of civilization that are the walled cities), I constantly get myself into trouble after trouble, mistake after mistake. Often times, I fully know that this is a retarded decision, but also know that my character is a reckless adrenaline junkie that only got into the city guard in the first place because he is really good at hiding it.

Sexy prostitute in the middle of the woods? Probably a succubus, but there's a 1% chance she's real. Suspiciously large chest of gold in a dungeon? Probably a fake, but the rewards are worth it. Nigerian prince in the mail? Likely a scam, but the rewards outweigh the risks.

Run phandelver, you pretty much just have to read the chapter a day in advance and you're set. More advanced GMing concepts are something you can look into, but for a complete beginner your best bet is to minimize prep and get premade dungeons, which is where the premade modules shine

As GM, present a situation with an obstacle in it, then players try something and you describe the reaction to that, using the rules as your guide for resolving things.
Thats 70% of GM'ing and once you (mostly) learn the rules its all flows fairly simply.
Try to know and apply the rules, but its better to make a quick ruling, write down what it was and correct it after the session is done then to slow the game down mid session with book reading.
(When presenting your situation, Be open too many possible solutions, your players WILL fail if you need them to read your mind and succeed on a singular specific solution)
As to not blot this post further, even though others may disagree, Your recommended reading will be looking up Deficient Master, The Alexandrian and Seth Skorkowsky for further fundamentals on GMing.

Is Warhammer 40,000 actually a misandrist/female supremacist setting? I'm just thinking about how every apparent accomplishment of the setting's major male players was actually done by a woman behind them e.g. the Emperor and Erda, Vect and Lady Malys, Angron and Lotara Sarrin, the High Lords of Terra and Morven Vahl, etc. etc.

Did you know that in 1999 Dan Abnett did a comic that was basically a wholesale rip-off of 40k except the main character was this vampire lady that he had all the other characters constantly talk about how sexy she was.

It had a feudal space Catholic empire that oppressed mutants, and even had elite warriors with implanted organs and cybernetics using weapons called bolters. Later Dan Abnett had the MC tame a bolter warrior with her vampire pussy.

>Isn't Wells a guy from the XIX century? I think war of the worlds predate 40k
Nope, 40k is the ur-myth that all sci-fi is based upon. Some other common examples are Star Trek and Star Wars, which are both heavily flawed attempts to borrow some of the concepts of 40k and change from grimdark to something more optimistic.
>>

Star Wars isn't directly ripping off WH40K, it's only ripping off classic fantasy like Dragonbone Chair or Belgariad, which in themselves are all direct copies of 40K.
>>
It's slightly annoying to have this smug fake conversation about all sci-fi and fantasy ever being based on Warhammer 40,000 when the timeline here is pretty provably 2000AD > Warhammer > 1999 Durham Red and the latter is absolutely ripping off Warhammer more than anything else. But it's a pretty obscure pull so I'm not surprised anons haven't read it and enjoy being smug and feeling in the right more.

Like this guy >>97398000 who didn't read shit in the thread and has no idea that 1987 Durham Red is enormously different from 1999 Durham Red, no way he's read either, but won't let that stop him from all caps'ing his opinion and certainty of being in the right.

Frankly, I'm not a fan of every white deck starting with authority of the consuls on turn one, every time. With dorks there are at least several redundant cards that can play each other's role. Here it's just conveniently 1 in 99 card in their opening hand every time

I need a new GOOD fantasy race to base a campaign region around.

Never saw a game that actually had the balls to include blemmies as a playable race

This, it's a shame nobody does anything more with the Cynocephaleans. I mean beyond bog standard wolffolk or dogfolk. There seems to be a decent amount of medieval literature on them that it seems puzzling that nothing major has been done with them.

Rabbitfolk are also based.

I just hate how including either would automatically get you labeled as a furry.

Reminds me of those old /tg/ threads where /tg/ invented a game/campaign scenario where a wizard made a spell/disease that caused people to turn into short, perpetually happy rabbit folk. The spell/disease spread by hugs.

And? So what? Are you an autistic special snowflake that wants to insert his special sparkledog donutsteel into the game?
No? Then why should you care? Why should you let other people dictate what is and isn't appropriate in YOUR game?

If any mention of animal features gives someone a conniption fit, it's their fucking problem.
People like that are usually annoying cunts that were already poised to blow a gasket at any moment, over some other detail they didn't like.
And if someone, rather than throwing a tard tantrum, simply asks what's up with it, like a fucking adult?
Just tell him you think wolf-headed people are cool, and as if they're cool with it being a thing in the campaign.
Y'know, discussing things in a civilized manner. A revolutionary concept for some people, apparently.
